BOVADA – Warning: $168k VIP Account Locked Over 1 Month

Hello everyone,

I’ve had an account with Bovada for almost 3 years. At first I didn’t play much, then I took a break, and about 6 months ago I came back and started playing more seriously.

During that time:
  • I had significant losses
  • I reached VIP status
  • But through consistent betting (no bonuses abuse, no tricks), I managed to recover and eventually go into profit

At one point, my account balance reached around $168,000.

Because I trusted Bovada as a reliable sportsbook, I didn’t rush to withdraw everything.

Everything was fine until one withdrawal:
  • It started taking longer than usual
  • Then I was asked to complete verification
  • Immediately after that, my account was locked

I submitted everything they requested.

Now the issue:

It’s been over a month
My account is still not verified
The “investigation” is still ongoing
I’m not getting any real or specific answers

What bothers me the most is this:

If I had lost $150,000 on my account, would I have the right to lock my account and deny Bovada access to that money?

Of course not.

So how is it fair that when a player wins money in a legitimate way, the account gets locked and access to funds is blocked?

I understand that verification and checks are part of the process, especially for large amounts. That’s not the problem.

The problem is:
  • the complete lack of transparency
  • the extremely long delay
  • and no clear timeline or explanation

I’m posting this to:
  • share my experience
  • see if anyone else went through something similar
  • and to bring attention to cases like this

Because if situations like this become normal, then what is the point of this industry?

Are we agreeing, by signing up, that we can only lose money — but if we win, our funds can be frozen indefinitely?

I will continue to update this case publicly.

If anyone has advice or similar experiences, I’d really appreciate your input.

If you are losing money they do not need to reconcile your account as closely ; only on a withdrawal will they make sure you adhere to all the terms and conditions.

If your profile is correct you may or may not be screwed, I notice it says you are in Illinois and looking on Bovada site they state they don’t allow players from your state, you might want to review their T&C . And getting mixed responses from google searches , that might be the road block , First withdrawal from site ?
This is a rule they maybe don’t care about when less than $1000 but strictly enforced for +$150K withdrawals maybe ?

When the house has to pay they find anyway to Lee in the money in-house ; This has has been the way casinos, gaming houses , websites etc have worked for the last few hundred years (not websites!) They are a business and care is taken when the house loses

You can open a complaint on here and the site will represent you , has a very particular set of conditions so ready those before you go down that route @maxd is the point man on that.

Only other thing would be that you are actually playing at the real site ? And not a scam my dark copied site ?
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.
is where you play ?

Had a similar PAB elsewhere recently where the casino actually paid me 3 x 5k withdrawals and then after so many reversals which in the past ended up as losses I had $103,300 pending and the casino literally closed my account lieing about me breaking bonus terms (I recorded my sessions) and would not respond to any emails of mine or provide me any claimed evidence.

They didn't even bother responding to the PAB and it was unsuccessful so unfortunately when playing at anywhere that isnt goverened by a legit gaming authority you are at their mercy and as soon as you no longer become profitable for winning too much they just pull these sorts of dodgy tricks.

I honestly am starting to believe that half these casinos are broke and cannot afford to pay out any high roller but love taking the high rollers money until the high roller hits too big.

UPDATE:

I wanted to update everyone regarding my situation with Bovada.

After a very long investigation and an extremely stressful process, I can confirm that I have now received all of my funds in full.

My account has been permanently closed by Bovada, but all withdrawals were ultimately processed and paid.

I still believe the entire process took far too long and lacked transparency. Having a VIP account locked for such an extended period, with limited information and no clear timeline, created a huge amount of stress and uncertainty.

That being said, I am relieved that the situation was eventually resolved and that I received the full balance owed to me.

I also want to thank everyone who followed the case, shared advice, and especially the complaint teams that helped keep pressure on the situation and assisted throughout the process.

Hopefully this update can help others who may go through something similar in the future.

Best of luck to everyone.
