New Slot Announcement Bonanza by Big Time Gaming

There's nothing 'wrong' with them as such, their 96% games pay out 96% over time, they don't cheat, they're not rigged or compensated, but once you get your head around how their game design and maths models work, they can become quite unpalatable.
That post is very interesting. BTG must have got lazy with some of their slots because as much as I like beef lightning the second reel is stacked with only 10s and Qs to balance it out!

I think the quoted bit is why I'm a bit bored of them now. I started completely skeptical so spent a lot of time looking into slot design and 'rigged' stuff while I was playing.

I disproved the rigged stuff myself just from playing but the design 'gimmicks' bothered me right from the start.

I think my problem is that looking for those things has become part of my slot play and once I notice something it puts me off the slot.

Bonanza is so well designed that it will hypnotize in a way that I don't think any other slot does if you try to bonus or bust it. Just end up spinning away and get lost in it until the 'not enough balance' pops up!

It's why the only way I could play it was to set a strict max. 20x loss limit and leave if nothing happened.

Read our BTG review and find out where to play BTG slots
I just gave DoA2 a spin and hit a first spin bonus for the second time last few days, thought ha bonanza never does that for me. I then hit another one so 2 bonuses in ~4 mins for 40x return. Not impressive but better than nothing.

After reading @ChopleyIOM interesting post I thought to use 20x just to see the 'teases' now I know the symbols are actually on the reels and not programmed to drop in as it's quite impressive.

It played really well with no 'teases' for 5 mins and dropped in a bonus for 112x!

I then played on for 20 spins or so but it wouldn't tease so I left!

Don't know how I feel about it tbh

I made a video about one of them, Megaways Gold I think it was, it was on my old YT channel but I've never reuploaded it to my new channel.

From memory I got it up to over 300,000 Megaways in the bonus for multiple spins, but it can do one million Megaways or something, and you can see the reels extended out in the game, at which point it becomes very obvious how they're designed to miss stuff all the time.

The most blatant one is alternating symbols, so reels 1 and 3 will be heavy with certain symbols, but reel 2 will have practically none of them, but then other symbols will be heavy on 2 and 4, but missing on 1, that sort of thing. So on Bonanza when you think you've 'just missed' a diamond or whatever to connect a big win, the reel that missed might have one diamond on it and be god knows how many symbols long. (BTG games have famously long reel strips.)

They do it with the premium symbols as well, so you'll get loads of enticing looking premium symbols on a number of the reels, even stacks of them, but when the reels are extended out a long way, you can really see how they are almost completely missing from a critical reel that means you almost never get them participating in a win.

There was a thread here a few years ago doing a statistical analysis of the BTG game Danger High Voltage, that isn't a Megaways game but the same design principles held true, with really long reel strips and symbol distribution designed to keep the game in check - because at the end of the day all these things are running with a house edge of around 4% (or often a lot more these days), and without that symbol distribution you'd end up with a game paying 150% or whatever.

If you can find Gold Megaways on demo play somewhere, just lump away at it until you get a bonus that properly gets going on the insane number of Megaways, and watch how something like 330,000 Megaways either misses completely for multiple spins, or manages a 3OAK on fucking 9s or something.

I had a proper extended play around loads of BTG games a few years ago, and documented it here at CM in the appropriate threads, the conclusion I reached at the end of my endeavours was never to play BTG slots again :D

I don't know if you will remember this Chops, but I seem to remember an old classic slot from the "good old days" that was quite guilty of this behaviour, but on a much smaller layout ie the standard 5 x 3 layout....

Pure Platinum

It's been quite a while since I played that game, but IIRC reels 1 and 3 would be heavy on AQ10 while reel 2 would be heavy with KJ9.
It was either that or KJ9 on reels 1 and 3, with AQ10 on reel 2.

Basically, you were always praying for a wild on reel 2

I can't say I ever noticed a similar pattern with the premium symbols on that game though.

But it does go to show that this kind of....uhm..."housery" (?) was a thing long before BTG came along to rewrite the "visually tilting programming" rulebook.

The bonanza retirement lasted a long time eh? :D
I was debating that when I was thinking to try it

Was expecting it to give me maybe 10 dead spins I'd see the teases and leave.

Edit: JATB just threw in a first spin bonus too for 40x. I think bonanza won't be sucking me back in (again lol) just yet. Strange evening so far!

are you setting a strict 20x loss limit per day for Bonanza or can you do more than one session it if you play other slots between a session? in a good sessiion Bonanza won't even drop down 10x and keep increasing the balance.

I rotate slots so bonanza was recently getting around 60x through the evening as all the other slots were quite dead.

Usually it would probably be 20x/40x as I would try bonanza at the start of the session and then at the end if everything else is dead.

I would freeroll too if the base played well enough as I like to try and bonus a slot with whatever I'm up by and then leave if I hit zero. Occasionally I might leave up as the base played well enough but I get bored after a while.

Well I also decided to throw £100 at Bonanza. Failed

Put in another £100 and got GOLD+5. As fucking usual my GOLD+5 flops...

It's just so stupid.

I dunno what @ChopleyIOM was getting at, but he hit over 800x on an aces tumble the first time he played Bonanza and about 5,500x the first time he played Final Countdown. For beginner's luck he was unrivalled in spawn.

I had some similar luck on BTG slots too. Every one played really well when I first gave them a go then normal or completely dead (except Opal Fruits it's didn't ever wake up so I never hit a bonus on it over probably near 1000x).

First couple times I played Donuts when I joined here I hit a 440x purples and a couple of decent bonuses.

Beef Lightning I hit 2500x+ very early on plus so many 100x+ bonuses I thought that was how it worked.

Both are completely dead for me now!

Wasn't like that on bonanza though as you're hogging all the luck and @thediro mops up most of the remaining bonuses so the rest of us are left with the scraps

the Dazza Gee spawny juggernaut rolls on. As soon as he said he is down to his last deposit we all knew what was coming.

if we just exclude the 6 Christmas Bonanza session (6 x -£250)

then it's +£19.5k new profit peak.
86 sessions on Bonanza
average starting balance £413
average winning session £1099 (33 wins)
average losing session £399 (42 losses)
11 break evens.
192 bonanza bonuses. avg of 2.23 per session.
average of £227 profit per session.

BTG is possibly the only slots provider I'm in overall positive territory with, The Final Countdown spawn in particular was absolutely outrageous. And considering I'm now an ex-gambler, I'm most likely one of the very few people who can legitimately claim that BTG has given me money, and not the other way around :D

First ever real money session on the game, just 24 spins for a feature, and it paid 5698x.

This is one of my few online slots videos that I did actually reupload to my new channel.

Yes you're quite right, reel design trickery such as this has always been a thing but IMO it never felt wildly unfair on the older, simpler games - I think we instinctively understood that the higher paying symbols needed to be rarer on the reels for the games to make RTP, and any weighting of distributions across the reels didn't necessarily feel too bad either.

The thing with Megaways is it promises so much, you see 1000 ways, 2000 ways and so on all the way up to 117K on Bonanza or one million on Gold Megaways and all the rest of it, and the devious design becomes far more blatant.

That's what surprised me about Gold Megaways and the other games that used that sort of design so much, in that BTG really do show you, and very clearly at that once the reels get expanded out, exactly what the trickery is.

I remember when the 243-wayers first came out and my (stupid!) instinctive thought was '243 ways, how can you lose!' and then you get 3OAK on a card symbol and you 'win' 10% of your stake back or something :D

My weekly wager limit reset on Midnite. After getting wrecked for £200 last time I went back for revenge.

13th spin, while I was a little above my initial deposit.

Sure only got back what I lost at the start of the week but still better than not getting it back at all.View attachment 226003View attachment 226004View attachment 226005
@dunover must really be running dead to put an angry face on @lukey141 200x+. That's usually just one bonus on his way to 1000x+ through a session!

Also stop bumping the fkn thread guys...fkn newbies

Meanwhile my session consisted of £300 in, 1 tease in about 800 spins. 3 max ways (0x, 0x, 0x). Best base hit 17x.

Finally a bonus with £8 left.

Followed by £200 in, nothing still. £100 more in to finally get a second bonus and it's even worse.

why not try sessions where you put a 100 in and if you don't win then you stop for the day.

The slots in general today are playing absolutely fucking horrific

Literally feels like someone has just turned the switch *off* on absolutely everything

Bad enough that 22 spin fucked me over - every single fucking bonus ive hit today on Bonanza, Le bandit, just anything has performed at the worse possible result you can imagine.

Ive had 0 withdrawls today, just went another £20 in bonanza and it took it in less than 10min.

Stay fucking clear of Casinos today.

Bank holiday weekend AND at the end of the month to boot mate.

I was going to have a punt last night/this morning and I ended up talking myself out of it.

At the risk of sounding like Edith Piaf....JE NE REGRETTE RIEN.

I should have thought about that, fuck. I started yesterday up £200 and then in the evening I got this promo code for a bunch of spins for a deposit and £5 cash back for £50 wagered. I did this and was down £6.50 at the end. Was doing 60p bets. All I had to do was say it will do and leave.

Instead no next thing I know it's gone, and so are multiple more deposits and the day goes from +£200 to -£500.

Almost entirely off the back of £600 yielding a 15x and 14x bonus on Bonanza over the course of 3 or 4 hours.

The worst part is I went below my bottom line as well. Now I'm in a hole that no amount of freebies will recover and I've basically blown the September gambling budget before it's even begun.

Looks like I'll be at the poker tables next month instead :(. I hope the competition for september isn't a slog that needs a lot of balance lol.

Speaking of freebies, does anyone have an account on any of the entain websites?

Party Casino, Ladbrokes, Coral, Foxy Bingo, Gala Casino or Gala Spins?

I just noticed all my daily offers have disappeared on all the sites. Is that the same for you too or have they nuked my account of freebies? Even though I lost like £700 on their sites this month!

How did the game feel? You hit those on their nerfed 94% RTP version. Seems it treated you well enough regardless.
it felt right was hitting frequently 25x and bonuses,i know mr vegas, videoslots and megariches have dropped the rtp to 94% but if its paying its paying, update just been on videoslots lost £100 in about 15 minutes so there you go

Apparently I triggered an automatic block that prevents me getting any bonuses or promos for a week to try to decrease my play time.

Even though I've only deposited £50 in the last 2 weeks and nothing in the last 9 days. I've also not increased play time. Who knows how the system has come to that BS decision. Not spun Bonanza on any of their sites in the last 2 weeks so my 'play time' is maybe 15 minutes a day at most entering the free daily stuff.

'We want you to play less so we won't let you do the free stuff and the only things you can do are with real money'.

Insane!

Can't seem to catch a break anywhere at the moment. Maybe time to dust off the PS5 instead.

Amazing aint it, Casinos get you hooked and addicted then punish you for getting addicted lol.

Joke industry, always has been always will be.

This entire thread is living testament to it.

Well it's worse than that. They are literally blocking me entering the FREE stuff while allowing me to play with real money still, because apparently that is to encourage me to play and spend less....?

In which case if that was actually true it should be the other way around!

The funny thing is I came 2nd in a free tournament on 1 of the sites yesterday and won £25 (which is still on my account I didn't withdraw). Then suddenly I'm blocked hmm.

Want to see a fucking disgrace?>

16 dead spins

16 fucking dead spins

Joke company

Ill stick to hacksaw, fuck it.
That one doesn't even matter about the time to bonus or p/l. Proper stinker!

After realiazing how engineered bonanza is in terms of the reels it just started to feel like a 'ball in the bag' slot, which is why I got a bit put off it. Impressive and evil genius how they did it but I wonder if those types of slot were developed after bonanza because other companies thought f that we can just do it this easy way.

Today? Considering I probably play closest to you in terms of deposit and stake I've been on a dead run most of the month!

I was going to have a punt last night/this morning and I ended up talking myself out of it.
I really need to start doing this. My bankroll is positive so I make a deposit a day regardless atm.

I'm tending to ignore my instinct to give it a miss and whenever I do that I always end up thinking I should have done what I felt and given that first week of the month a miss as I just lost 7 deposits.

Same thing this last week tbh lol

Think it will be easier going forward as I'm just playing the DoAs mostly at the moment so I don't have a roster of slots to think one of them might hit so give them all a go.

I think I finally found a few places I can play this.

Kinda want to now, see what all the fuss is about.
The novelty for me is that every spin is different and it's reel based. Big grid games do the same but they are 'ball in the bag' whereas it turns out BTG actually designed the reels so that all the near misses and decent things that land are actually natural cascades.

BTG went to a lot of effort to make sure every spin feels like something should/could have happened so it drives people mad when nothing happens like on every other slot.

Also bonus that has a 1/450 spin average to land but a 200x feels like you won the lottery

This annoyed me more than any slot could when I first started playing.

Go on a hot streak not losing money and I'd eventually get messages about how long I've been playing then all the offers would be removed.

Dead runs where I lost a deposit a day in less than an hour and had a losing month....nothing!

Well when I spoke on the phone I was told it was due to excessive play and losses, recommended I set a deposit limit (already have £100/week set). Also recommended I have a max loss limit which applies across all their sites (already have £500/month set).

He then cited the 8th of July when I was playing for 11.5 hours. Not sure why I'd get whacked with automated limits nearly 2 months later but there we go. I didn't want to admit I was using an auto clicker on another laptop so I was actually working in another room and checking in every 30 minutes to see if I had a bonus. Probably breaks some sort of rules. Guess I'll need to keep the session times down even if I'm not playing them myself lol.
