For some reason people expect to hit big and win all the time on Bonanza, perhaps a tribute to what a cleverly designed slot it is, that it lures everyone into that way of thinking. Yet people will quite happily play other atrocities and never mention that they eat your deposit in 2 minutes flat without a single hit because they expect it, despite the game having the same rtp.
Name another game that consistently produces 200x in the base and a fair chance of x1000 in the bonus. I have played lots of Netent and NEVER hit x 200 in the base and DOA aside, NEVER hit x1,000 in a bonus round. Same on Quickspin, Yggdrasil etc.
Lets put the question out there. You have 250 x stake as a starting balance. Your objective is to hit a x 500 bonus round or a x 200 base hit before you bust out. Which slot are you choosing if your life depends on it?
I really like this question, thanks to the amounts you chose. Very clever.
That said, based on my own play history, the answer is NOT Bonanza.
As for the games I would pick ahead of Bonanza, well here goes...
Immortal Romance
Jurassic Park
I would also give the following some serious consideration....
The Finer Reels of Life
Creature From the Black Lagoon
DHV
Game Of Thrones 15 lines
And if these two games still existed, I wouldn't hesitate to put them ahead of Bonanza...
The Dark Knight
Raging Rhino (the old pre-nerfed Flash version that is)
For me, the key to answering your question is bonus frequency.
Bonanza is clearly lacking in this regard when compared to my examples.
If my life is at stake, then you can bet your life that I am picking a game with a far better bonus triggering frequency. Simply because Bonanza's ability to spit out 200x in the base game comes nowhere near making up for the shortfall in its bonus frequency.
In fact, now that I think about it, I promote DHV to the same tier as IR and JP.
