I am missing some money and it's out of my visa debit (greendot card) balance, but it's not in my casino account either. I deposited $45 tonight + $2.21 fee at Bodog. The transaction in the casino cashier says it was successful and that same amount was deducted from my available debit card balance. Problem is that the money is gone. Chat rep says transaction was not successful but I have never had an non authorized transaction go missing from my balance.

My transaction history in my greendot account shows as follows:
    03/09/2011
    Pltpay.com/needthis

    +18662700998
    Purchase Date: 03/09/11
    Category: Retail Stores
    Pending -$47.21

I'm baffled and frustrated, as that was my playing money and I cannot access it. Any ideas, people?

That sucks if this was ment to be your playing money for today.

Anyway, there has most likely been some kind of a error. It can happens, and the amount will probably be posted back to your bank account. But this usually takes a couple of days while the amount is pending. It has happened to me once.

It is probably useless to contact the bank. They can not do anything about this before the pending period is over, and the amount is either transfered to the casino or back to your account.

I have had this happen to me numerous times in the past. not only at bodog, but a lot of MG sites. The only time it ever happened was when i was using prepaid debit cards and of course I never saw the money because I could not get a bank statement to try and recover the money. This happens sometimes when the process times out or takes longer than expected. I would recommend staying away from using debit cards to play online and look for a way to transfer the money from something like quicktender, moneybrokers, or even echeck. Paying the nominal fee to make sure you receive your deposit is way worth it. And from my experience with Bodog it will be very difficult to recover your money. When it happened to me they stated that they never received the money even though it had been removed from the gift card. Good luck

Since it still says pending, there is a chance that this is just the first time YOU have seen this on your card, so wait to see what happens when the money moves from pending. It'll either drop back into the account, or end up somewhere with Bodog.

This is the kind of bullshit rogue practice they get away with because they are dealing with US players, and they know they are not going to press their banks too much on the issue in case they get "found out" as gamblers, and suffer even worse problems.

Maybe players should exert more pressure on operators once they can confirm the money really has gone, and make it clear that although they will be patient and understanding, they will NOT let the matter drop, and after a more than reasonable period of time has passed, they WILL make a formal complaint to the US banking authorities, or "better business bureau".
Bear in mind this is the LAST thing the operators want, because they would risk losing an entire processor over an unresolved dispute over a few tens of dollars, and quite likely the seizure of any "in transit" funds. This should ensure they conduct a PROPER investigation, because the money has NOT just "gone", SOMEONE has got it, and is ILLEGALLY keeping it.

If money from online purchases really DID simply vanish like this because of "timeouts", a COMMON feature of the internet, there would be a HUGE outcry, not just from customers, but RETAILERS who would have faith in eCommerce completely wrecked.

It seems the problem is SPECIFIC to casinos, so as I said, SOMEONE has the money, and it isn't just "lost". This "someone" is NOT doing their job, but illegally pilfering these sums of money that fall foul of technical glitches, rather than forwarding them, or returning them to source.

This happend to me before when trying to make an iDEAL deposit using my local bankaccount. It should be an instant deposit, but the bank screwes up if i use after 12pm... The money is gone from my account, but i becomes visible about 3 days later at the casino. It always get's credited though.

Now i only use NETELLER and never any "pending" problems anymore.

Thanks Becky for yours and all the other helpful replies. I was just a bit freaked out because normally I either get an approval or a denial. Even though the casino cashier dialogue said the deposit had been successful, the casino people on their end show the deposit was not able to be captured. This was explained to me by the manager who called me. The money still shows debited and pending, so I guess we will see what happens. With greendot they will hold out your funds until the last moment of 10 business days. I've been thru this before with a rental car deposit, that went 10 days from the time the rental car company released the funds back. This is not the rental car company's fault, but an example of where business will use our money as long as they can get away with. Quicktender needs to be a deposit option at Bodog, as I never use a Visa debit card, if I can help it and after this, probably will not do so again for a casino transaction.

Yes, I do know how this works. Thanks

Generally it is not the casino that has benefited from this situation. If the money is not credited to your account, the casino has not received the money. However as you stated, someone has the money! Even if the money did indeed vanish, why should you be the person to suffer. If bodog has no other way for you to play or deposit besides using a debit card and it timed out, they should go ahead and credit you the funds, because they had no other option for you to use to make your deposit. I personally will never play on Bodog ever again for another reason which has been posted in a different post.

Good luck, I hope you receive your funds. And if you are using a prepaid visa do not throw away the card after you deposit because without being able to send them a bank statement or a photocopy of the card they will rip you off and not pay you. My situation occurred when I had won around 600.00 and attempted to cash out and they would not pay me because I no longer had an old credit card I used to deposit 6 months prior to this transaction. I had lost that original card and it was my bank card. It was a check card which I had to replace since it was lost. without giving them a bank statement or photo copy of that card which was lost I could not cash out. Obviously I could not photocopy a card I no longer had, and the bank statement which I got a copy of and sent them they would not approve. Even though the bank statement showed every single deposit for the exact times, dates, and amounts of transfers for every single transaction that coincided with the lost card. Obviously the bank statement did not have the card number written on it because it was a check card. The whole situation was outrageous and I never was paid.

I will wait and see what happens to the funds, but if it takes 10 days to get my money back, it sure will feel unnatural and wrong that it was in this casino's cashier that I was put in this predicament and inconvenienced, especially since this was my only way to deposit and this was my budget for playing this week. Not happy about the situation at all, but what can I do? Not much, it seems.

I still don't get how it said deposit was successful, the money left my available debit card balance, then nothing. It should have said declined and the money would still have been available to me. Now I question whether to even trust Bodog's cashier to try again, if the money does reappear. What if it happens again?

    Same here.
I've used iDEAL once at RichReels, thought it would be faster than uploading the money to my Neteller first.
    Wrong.
The money didn't show in my account and stayed in limbo for a week.
Had to send bankstatements that the money was indeed deducted.
It was also my last gamblingmoney, support told me I could play in funmode..

Takethemoney, I guess you'll see your money in the end, but it might take a while.
    Frustrating really!

Completely outrageous. If they got the money, they should NOT have a problem. After 6 months there is surely NO chance of it "not going through" after they pay out the $600.

Casinos consider players who "charge back" after losing as frauds and thieves, but this is a case of the CASINO being a "thief", by first saying they will pay, but then placing an IMPOSSIBLE set of conditions on the payment.

Short of borrowing the Doctor's TARDIS, how is one expected to comply.

If casinos are going to behave like this, they will INCREASE the risk of chargebacks, because not ALL players will just "take this BS", they will COMPLAIN, and to the BANKS, who CAN do something about it.

This kind of thing also provides another excuse to the prohibitionists, who can argue that citizens are routinely being scammed by offshore casinos, thus they need to be banned to protect consumers from being victims of such scams. This gives them a far more credible argument for protectionism than the earlier moral and "funding terrorists" ones they first tried.

They can argue that US based casinos can offer online products, and assure players that they CANNOT be scammed through ridiculous terms and conditions, nor face impossible procedures to get paid winnings. Legalisation would also give players someone to complain to without the fear that their gambling will be curtailed by their banks. With this in place, players would have no further need for the rogues and the "rip-offs", and will be far more willing to complain when they DO get ripped off, because they will STILL be able to play at the internally regulated portals, rather than face the complete curtailment of their hobby.

Refer this to Bryan - there seems to be a problem with the PM service.

Make sure the PM is shown under "sent", as if not, it didn't actually GET sent. If it is more than 5000 characters, you can press "send", but it will be REJECTED with an error message, and this might not always be noticed.

I will, Becky. On a side note, I logged in last night to check on things and noticed the UseMyWallet option is now available to me. I hadn't noticed it before or that would have been my deposit method.
