Make yourself a list of what needs to be done and when so that you can relax-you still have plenty of time! As I recall-9 year olds are easy to please without spending too much money.

Don't worry you will be fine (have a drink Mom):)

From one mom to another, let's get organized. OK we have 20 kids coming over, are ya cooking or ordering food. If you cook do kids food the crap the other parents wont let them eat they will love it. If ordering keep it simple. 2nd theme of party? If its all girls, go buy some cheap make up, spa and nail polish kits and let the fun begin in a room that they cant ruin if they spill. Make sure you pick up some wipes they can use to clean themselves. If its a mixed party video games and board games card games ask your daughter she will know the simple things they like. Decorations I would do in one room and go off on that room, this is the room you want the kids to stay in. Make sure you get the numbers of parents cause there's always gonna be one that doesn't come back and get their kid on time or at all and yes I had one that had to spend the night one time. Use and abuse hubby or other kids as helpers... Hope this helps

Thank you so much, I have been sitting the past week trying to think of things like 'party games' lol, duh to me lol I never even thought of make up and nail polish, I'll pick some cheap stuff up from the chemist tomorrow,:) I was thinking of like a minature disco for them, so thanks, this is much more quiet , it will keep them quiet too :D

One of the funnest things I did with my roomie's 2 daughters was a virtual makeover, we got them scrubbed up and hair tied back, took digital photos and had some software that let them try on all these different hairstyles and makeup and shades - we laughed until we all had headaches.

Another quick and easy thiing is to grab a couple movies (something their age group enjoys) or a scavenger hunt or some kind of puzzle/riddle game with prizes. The prizes don't need to be anything fancy - maybe an extra piece of cake or a goofy hat or something.

Main thing is not to stress about it. Check out this:

The mummy wrap game looks fun! Provided it's in someone else's house, that is. ;)

P.s. Buy toilet paper!

LOL I miss those days! Girls are much easier than the boys. I can remember once I had the "smart" idea to combine the two birthdays, thinking it would be easier. Boy was I wrong!!! Our local bowling ally had free bowling, you only had to pay for the shoes. The kids got to bowl 2 free games each. I had 50 kids there LMAO Thank God the kids were well behaved, the staff thought it was hysterical. I can tell you, I NEVER did that again!!!! Learned my lesson LMAOOOOOO

Anyways, sorry for the derail...
You've been given some really good ideas. If you haven't run low on funds, you can almost, maybe, let them make hair decorations (barrettes/headbands) buy some cheap plain headbands/barrettes, some ribbon, glitter or sequins (if you're brave :D) or stuff like that, beads and let them design their own stuff. Or plain sunglasses and let them make their own designer sunshades with beads and paint. Will keep them busy, laughing and they get to go home with something too.

Make sure you have a camera on hand to get pictures so your daughter has lots of good memries of her birthday!

Jeeez, 20 kids birthday party, are you mad lol, I remember my son`s earlier birthdays that warranted parties I use to take them to the pictures then McDonald's, one such outing involved Shrek2 I was the only one that watched it lol (I didn`t know it had a kind of adult film theme as I hadn`t seen the 1st one at that time), we also have places like go bananas for the younger kids

and Colchester has a Zoo also, so we`re kinda spoilt for choice here ;).

Anyway`s hope the day went/goes well .

You're going to have about 20 kids so you'll need to set up at least 4 poker tables...

:lolup:thanks skiny, that certainly put a smile on my face this morning, though somehow I think I'll stick with the 'make up and nail polish', I got some yesterday, my 2 daughters have been running around since yesterday wearing lipstick and eyeshadow lol (not in bed though), also I have a nintendo wii that should keep some of the other children happy, everything has been got and I'm money exhausted now so there will be no fluttering at casinos this week :(

Thanks everyone on your input :)

Now that I think about it, you'd probably just end up winning back a bunch of half empty bottles of nail polish and tubes of used lipstick.

Well, what can I say, only 1 child turned up for the party, my daughter was absolutely devastated, that will be the last time any of her so-called friends will be invited. Today though, she got a phone call from one friend explaining to her why she couldn't make it, non the less we tried to make the day enjoyable for her.

In all honesty I felt for my little girl :(

My goodness that is so unfortunate. I say WTF is wrong with the parents of the invited children? Guess your daughter learned a valuable but hard lesson about what it means to be a "true friend". Well she will remember that her family made her special day a good one!

Feel for ya:)

OK the mom in me is coming out now big time. 1st Did the parents RSVP for the party? If so I would be calling and telling them just how bad my kid felt because of there rudeness. 2nd I would explain to my daughter not to take it so bad that some kids may have wanted to come but their parents were at fault. My daughter has been invited to parties and two come to mind. One mom wrote wrong date and when no one showed up she started calling people, that's how she found out. We rallied the troops and we were there within the hour. The 2nd party I remember was my daughter was invited by the child to a party and I blew it off because the parent never contacted me. When the mom called I said I'm sorry she told me but I didn't know if it was kids making plans or if there was an actual party. I was waiting for you to call she laughed and said your the 4th parent that has said that to me today, so we got dressed got the gift and headed over to the party.

However I would still call the parents.
