Betway's "free spins" offers

I joined Betway last week after receiving an email offering me 20 free spins on the "Hellboy" slot. I couldn't find any details on the free spins but since it was a no deposit offer, I decided to give it a shot.

So after downloading the software, registering and spending 10 min with customer service because the free spins weren't there (CS couldn't explain why but the FS only appeared 10 min after opening the account), I was set to play the FS.

To my surprise (shock), I quickly realized that the 20 free spins were only good for 5 lines (on a 20 lines slot) at 1 cent each. That's right, a big, whopping $1 worth of free spins. I collected a couple of pennies from the spins, as espected. That was a hell of a welcome bonus.

Feeling insulted that they tried to lure new players with such a ridiculous offer, I uninstalled the software right away.

That was until yesterday, when I received another email. Same deal but this time it wasn't for new players and it was on Center Court. I figured that they couldn't pull the $1 thing twice so I decided to download and install the thing again.

Sure enough, it was the 20 free spins scheme with 5 lines at 1 cent each again. I did better this time though and collected $0.22 (which were gone after 3 regular minimum bet spins).

Hey Betway, sometimes nothing is better than something. People tend to not deposit at casinos when they feel like they are being laughed at.

.

We have seen worse :D

1 line out of 100 and this offer even required a min £20 dep.

Holy cow, that's the same $1 but spread on 100 spins instead of 20. It's obvious that they do that so people will download the software not knowing what these spins really are, but who's going to deposit when they feel like they were fooled? I got fooled twice Betway, shame on me. You won't get me again, though.

It should also be mentioned that Betway and Cabaret Club (the casino with the 1-line offer) are part of the same group as far as I know.

Players can probably expect similar offers from all of their brands:

Spin Palace
Ruby Fortune
Mummys Gold
Cabaret Club
Betway
Gnuf

Seriously, what would it be for them to give 20 spins with all lines active (assuming it's a 20 lines slot)? That would be only $4 worth of free spins, which is still less than half of what many sub-par casinos give away as no deposit free chips welcome bonuses. Does tricking players like that worth it?

Well, no deposit bonuses are one thing. I do not think it is fair to complain too much about these promotions as they do not require any deposits.

It is much worse to see promotions like the one sent out by Cabaret Club where you must deposit a least £20 to get 100 free spins worth £1 in total. This is clearly designed to lure players into depositing in my opinion.

It's because they have only a tiny pot of money to give out in freebies - they would rather spend the loin's share of their promotional budget spamming the hell out of people instead...

This is great, a typo that still makes sense but with a slightly different meaning.

I'm going to start using this version of the phrase, it definitely sounds more entertaining :)
