Hi all
appreciate any thoughts on this.
I am a problem gambler and and self excluded my self last year from Skybet.
I would have expected this to include affiliates and indeed immediately after, my Pokerstars account got suspended. Betfair is also an affiliate.
on 30 December 2020, I hadn’t used my Betfair account in about 18 months but decided to play on the site. Over the course of the session I deposited £1150 in amounts ranging from £25 to £100.
I have complained to Betfair that these amounts shouldn’t have been accepted. How when self excluding from Skybet and I excluded from some affiliates but not others.
whether they are technically covered by legal loopholes or not I don’t believe they have acted in the spirit of my self exclusion.
After playing for several hours, my account was suspended mid roulette spin and I received an email saying I had to do verification checks. How is it possible to accept £1150 before asking this. If I had been asked at the start of the session I wouldn’t have deposited.
after complaining about all this to Betfair they closed my account and gave me some links to problem gambling. How were they able to make this decision after accepting my money but not before.
the whole idea of my self exclusion from Skybet and it’s affiliates was to avoid sessions like this and it is just abusing problem gamblers

Their exclusion isn't instant between brands on Flutter primarily because they are on different licences. Pokerstars one came through for me about 7 days after the Sky exclusion.

What verification did they ask for? If it was in relation to identity then you may have a case. The casino groups will have a policy on cross licence exclusions. Most do it straight away but others it can take some time so read up on that. Exhaust the complaints process and then go to the UKGC if you are still unhappy. You will need to check terms though.

ok, my thoughts are that you were trying to freeroll.
They are not on the same license and therefore don't have to apply a cross license exclusion.
You clearly know quite a bit, more than I would expect someone who genuinely didn't have a clue to know, therefore I'm sure you are aware of gamstop's existence, yet you don't mention signing up there.
It isn't a legal loophole, they haven't done anything wrong. They might have done a cross license check at some point and decided to exclude your account, in fact that might be what they did triggering the ID request. It might have just been normal KYC, as I would suggest a new customer, depositing over £1k in a few hours, should trigger checks.
They made the decision to close your account as you admitted being a problem gambler, any casino should do that instantly if they are licensed by the UKGC.
I would be extremely surprised if you get your deposits refunded, but you have nothing to lose by trying. I would expect them to come back with similar to what I have wrote above though.

Hi wasn’t trying to freeroll the self exclusion was to stop sessions like this. I didn’t deposit with the intention of trying to get it back if I lost but the more I think about it, the more I think the deposits shouldn’t have been accepted.

Use gamstop if you are a problem gambler, and don't try to be creative with your details as you won't be refunded.

Did you register at gamstop?

No but I thought my exclusion was from Skybet and it’s affiliates
So, just to be clear, you self excluded with sky and thought that meant you were self excluded at Betfair too.
You didn't sign up with Gamstop, which would have stopped you playing anywhere licensed in the UK.
So, despite having a gambling problem, you decided to gamble, ok thats fair enough, thats what happens when you have a problem.
But then did you play at say Videoslots? AllBritish? Coral? BetVictor? Bet365? Rizk? Betfred? WilliamHill? Any of which you could play at as you hadn't excluded. No, you chose to play at Betfair, a gambling site you thought you should be excluded from.
If you weren't trying to get a freeroll, then, simply, why?

I thought I was excluded from Skybet and it’s affiliates. I didnt know at time Betfair were one, I’ve heard of Gamstop but never bothered with it as I am either self excluded or have a tiny deposit limit on most of the sites you mention. i wasnt aware I needed to sign up to Gamstop. I wasnt trying to get a freeroll as wasn’t aware Betfair associated with Skybet at time. Ok so it’s my fault I got drunk and gambled on the only site I could find I had access to but I think my self exclusion from Skybet should have prevented this. How come Betfair subsequently excluded me?

I've already explained that.
Also, sister sister aren't affiliates.

Sorry pal, your full of it.

Will my Self-Exclusion be extended to other operators?

Sky Betting and Gaming forms part of the same group as Pokerstars Brands and Full Tilt Poker. We have recently been acquired by Flutter Entertainment PLC, the operator of sports betting and gaming brands Paddy Power and Betfair.

anyone reading this would think Betfair included

Well scroll on - hardly constructive
A opinion doesn’t need to be.

but as a affiliate I’d liked to of thought your where well aware of licenses, responsible gambling tools and self exclusions etc..

reason being should one of your sign ups whom you’re making a living from have any concerns.
