Yep, looks like 2015 is the year of consolidation - first Ladbrokes and Coral, now Paddy Power and Betfair and soon bwin and whoever is willing to cough up £1bn for them. I expect a few more to come before the year is out.

Interesting to note that Paddy Power CEO reckons that the new merged company will still maintain the two brands rather than creating a new one. Speculation floating round twitter was that it would be called Betty Power
