:eek:Heads up, banks starting to investigate "irregular" transactions. I know from personal experience! Anyone else been contacted.

Please pm if you don't want to post:eek:

I get calls about "irregular transactions" everytime I travel or spend an unusual amount of money or spend it at an unusual place.

Both my bank and CC are very concerned with identity theft and that is what causes these calls.

On that note, I reported an email to paypal the other day

The email looked authentic but I noticed a redirect on the link. It could easily catch people out.

ALSO REVIEWING WIRETRANSFERS

Wiretransfers being watched closely, best thing to use ACH, but the ewallet stopped that. Credit card deposits much worse for ewallets and us.

Can you use prepaid cards over there? We can use them in the UK. The cards are not tied to a bank directly and you can lift from a cashline. They are through banks but do not go through any scrutiny, for now. Its pretty untraceable unless the actual company reports you

Yeah Gary, we've got them. They work great as you don't have to worry about your bank account being wiped out. The only issue is that sometimes when a deposit is rejected at the casino, the charge is made to the card anyway. I had this happen a couple of times and called netspend to report it. They are able to remove the "ghost" charges for you if you are persistent. Oh, the hoops we have to jump through these days!!!

Hey Gary,

Yes prepaid cards can be used here in the US. I'm in Texas and up until recently my method of deposit has always been Netspend or Wired Plastic, both of which are prepaid cards. Now I have a quicktender account and am using that but I still use my prepaid cards to deposit money in my quicktender account. I also do not withdrawal winnings to my banking account. I've been using my Wired Plastic card for that.

Word to the wise though if you do use prepaid make sure it's Visa. :)

Hi Sensical.. sorry to let you know this... but you just dug up a thread from last February.

Both my bank and CC are very concerned with identity theft and that is what causes these calls.
Very true ! I get called every time an UNFAMILIAR transaction occurs...once they see the transactions for usemywallet deposits they have never asked about them again knowing they were authorized by me the first time they asked.
Wiretransfers being watched closely,
This is in the amount of $10,000 or more at any given time same as always...

These have always been in place..nothing has changed...

The only thing might be a new form of transcation showing up and they are trying to make sure they are covering their (the banks) butt by asking for confirmation that you did indeed start the transaction.

Please do not create panic here...this has been and is the norm of everyday business for the banks in protecting us against account theft.

My bank has a pamphlet on the teller window to let them know if you're going to use your credit card out of the country.

UK VISA

First Direct SUCK BIG TIME!!!!!

I have one of their VISA credit cards, and around 50% of my transactions fail (gambling related), this still happens DESPITE the fact they have finally gone forward with "verified by VISA".

Yesterday, after clearing my card and making an earlier deposit, it FAILED AGAIN - trying a miserly deposit to Neteller to use the Ladbrokes promo (never used CC there, and don't want the "faxback treatment" just for one deposit). Just as well, 50 in and withdrew 200 from Laddies - going well so far. Sadly though, the 50 DIDN'T come from the VISA card, I had to use 50 from another card, and soon after, Go Wild FINALLY paid the 600 I had been waiting for:mad:

Today, I tried the First Direct VISA again with 32Red, and it WORKED:confused: - this despite the fact I have yet to receive the usual call from "fraud detection" to ask about the earlier transaction, so CLEARLY, it is NETELLER that has the "fraud software" on high alert, not respected casinos such as 32Red.

Last time, their CS (First Direct) said that when certain merchant sites are used for HIGH LEVELS of fraud, they tend to block ALL transactions until they have contacted the card owner.

Seems to me therefore that the likes of Neteller have a BIG PROBLEM with stolen card details being used to fund Neteller acounts, and move the money away fast. I thought that this was recently a problem confined to Moneybookers.
Remember Neteller is NOT A MEMBER OF THE FSA or IOM retail investor compensation schemes, if your money "disappears" you are SOL:mad:
