There's an old saying "If you're going to live here you should learn the language" which I always thought was slightly rude since learning new languages isn't the easiest thing in the world and I'm sure most people are trying but if people are going to make public announcements they could at least get someone to proof read these things.

I passed a sign yesterday that had piles of skids (pallets) in a fenced in parking lot. A large sign on the fence read "Skids to give to a donnor." First of all donor is spelled with one N and if you're giving the skids YOU'RE the donor. The donor isn't the person receiving the skids.

I also saw a flyer someone stapled to a sign post. It read "Free rooms to rent." I'm not sure how this qualifies as free if you have to rent them but then I could never figure out free deposit bonuses either.

Someone obviously got pissy with someone who lived in a building I passed a few weeks go. The person spray painted over a window on the first floor "BICH." This might even be true but at least the bitch could probably spell.

There is even a store in Toronto. Near Eglington and Keele. Look for it. It's called "Easy Shoping" Not only did the person who owns the store know how to spell shopping but the person who made the sign was either equally stupid or couldn't be arsed to tell them it was wrong.

Another one that someone posted on a convenient store window said "Sorry we are close." Well, I have no idea why you're sorry since being close is one of the things that makes you convenient but I can't ask because you are CLOSED."

So if you're going to post a sign just get someone to proof read it first. Even if it's just one word (bich.)

There are loads of cars here in Malta with those fake numberplate signs in their rear window with the phrase "Penis Doner" on them...

A: Not a kebab I'd like to eat myself...
and
B: Even if they had spelled "donor" correctly I'm not sure they'd genuinely want to donate that particular part of their anatomy.

Still, it helps to identify the idiots on the road.

There's a guy here who seems to have a bit of a sideline in selling used cars, he doesn't have a showroom or anything, he just parks them up on Douglas promenade with printed FOR SALE signs in the windows.

One of the things he lists in the details is what fuel the car runs on (petrol or diesel), on every single petrol car sign he misspells it as 'PETROOL'.

Punctuation is important too. And sometimes these things can just be worded a bit better.

I was reading though a used crap magazine. One of those buy and sell deals. I forget which one.

One ad read - Bed for sale good for cottage with mattress.

Now I'm pretty sure it was supposed to mean - Bed for sale. Good for cottage. With mattress.

Or even better would have been Bed for sale with mattress. Good for cottage.

I pictured some guy laying on a mattress on his cottage floor reading this ad thinking "Hey, that's what I need!"

I laughed when someone in 3Dice said "try neutering Dio" when by just adding the intended comma ("try neutering, Dio,") suuure changed the whole meaning

Ray usually spends a few minutes every morning looking through kijiji to see if anyone has any guitars or amps or whatever for sale. It's very rare to find an ad with no spelling errors. Guitar seems to be a difficult word to spell. Most of the business signs I've seen that are wrong have to do with apostrophes...like "Dinning room table's for sale" (Dining is also difficult I guess)

But the worst I've seen was this one (from the internet)
