We have a glossary that has been live for years called the Babel Meister. It's located here:
Babelmeister: Gambling Glossary - Casinomeister

Now this is was originally written for our poker site - when poker was a thing - so there are loads of poker terms. I have added a bunch of terms to this as well over the years - pertaining to online casinos or to the forum, or the site itself. The thing is, it could use more terms.

So if there are terms or accronyms you'd like to see here that you feel will assist our members, please post them in this thread and I will define them and add them to the BabelMeister. Thanks!

Great idea, great for SEO also, every good site should have a glossary of terms for its subject. The industry is full of jargon also.
Some days I truly feel old with the short cuts
Granted, they make sense, but I still do a quick google (ex ISO)

A couple of standards I didn't see:

Card Royals - J, Q, K, and A.

Card Suits - Clubs, Hearts, Diamond, Spades

Some basic slot ones from a half-started glossary :)

Dynamic mechanics
Respin
Bonus Buy
Reels
Columns
Rows
Pay symbols low, medium or high
Premium symbols
Scatter or Scatter Symbol, Scatter Pays
Paytable
Payline
Base Bet
Base Game
Bonus Game
Game Mechanics
Cascading Symbols
Avalanche
Reactive Wins
Tumbling Symbols
Wildline
Trigger
Retrigger
OAK – Of a kind
Clusters or Cluster Pays

FTR, I'm not a dullard, I can grasp most things by context 2nd time around.
But if someone says, say...
ISO good RTP
It's a fair head scratch
(I remember googling max's IIRC)

So good to see an updated list ;)

I remember first playing online slots and I was not even aware you could change the bet. Let alone what a scatter was or even the definition of rows to go with reels.

Most people don't want to read jargon anyway I don't think. Its good to have something that can make sense of it all.

Off the top of my head (some for newbies, too!):
  • KYC
  • loot box
  • Terms and Conditions ( 😂 )
  • Jurisdiction
  • DB (Deposit Bonus)
  • FDB (First Deposit Bonus)
  • (casino) rep
  • WD (withdrawal)
  • WR (wagering requirements)
  • GDPR
  • Casino License
  • Responsible Gambling
  • Self-Exclusion
  • ML (money laundering)
  • AML (anti money laundering)

Not today, but not long ago, I had to google OAK (3 OAK, 5 OAK, etc :D

It used to be in the forum of yore, I could select certain terms and when you'd mouse over them, the definition would appear. Pretty cool. But yes, this glossary needs updating. Thanks for the suggestions.

There are too many initials for everything!
  • WL (withdrawal limit)
  • SE (self-exclusion)
  • RG (Responsible Gaming)
  • RGP (Responsible Gaming Practice)
  • BL (bonus limit)
  • NDP (non-deposit bonus)
gosh, and truth, that's 'top of the head'.
Betcha could find another 20 :p
