B&M Annoyances

It had been awhile since I made the 3 hour trek to my nearest B&M (Coushatta Casino in Louisianna)....so decided to get out of the house last nite to try my luck.

I faired ok, but was reminded of why I enjoy playing online more as of late.

Here is my little list of what annoys me most about playing at B&Ms:

-People simply sitting down at a slot and not playing....sometimes taking a snooze....come on, the casino is full, I shouldn't have to tell you to get the f**k up!

-Big spender hitting 1,000 coins on a penny slot, and then looking around smugly to see if anyone else has noticed their big win:rolleyes:

-Same as above, but smoke a whole cigarette watching the counter add up.

-Obnoxious table players...unfortunately I went on a Friday nite, so there was an abundance of these.

-Finally, and not really an annoyance, but still makes me shake my head....I was watching this lady next to me play multi hand VP....she was playing jacks or better, and playing 25 lines, and held an A,K, and 9, all different suits:eek: And I am not one who likes to give unsolicited advice.

Anything else you would like to add....

"Couples" who play together.
One sits at the machine and the other sits next to them giving advice. Or they BOTH play one machine. None of that would matter if they would stfu and quit yammering and disrupting MY flow while playing MY machine:mad:

Oh yes and people who stop in the middle of aisles. Just stop dead and stand looking around like they have no idea where they are. Meanwhile they are blocking anyone else from moving on through.

LOL these 2 types drive me nuts also!
The ones whose machines make a shit ton of noise while ringing up the credits and want you to see what a "good job" they have done. I am the kind who immediately will hit the play button so other people don't have to listen to mine crediting.
I am all for anyone winning but for gods sake you don't need that much recogition for it , do ya?!?

I agree to all of the above..the noisey ringing up of $15 in pennies that takes ten minutes..I hit the button too and the people that stop in the middle of the aisle..happened last night! Lucky he didn't have coffee down the back of his shirt!

However...when I do make a cashout the money is in my hand in less than 2 minutes:D I don't have to prove who I am with 15 forms of I.D. and my sons middle name. It's there in my pocket ready to go home with me:lolup:

My wife and I were playing in the wee hours of the morning at an Indian casino an hour from us in a neighboring state. Out comes a couple techs with a cart full of computer chips and they were literally changing the computer chips in the slots right before our very eyes. One would work and the other was constantly looking around as though they thought they were being sneaky. No wonder the place is pack but you never see anyone winning anything big there.

So, I guess that annoyed me enough that I don't trust them and won't go back. I think the so called gambling commissions around here don't do anything anyway and certainly, as long as I have been playing, have never seen them involved in anything.

Hiya: What i don't like is the, "Expert" Black jack player, who insist on telling others, "without them asking" how to play their hand. If they lose, it was because someone at the table did not play properly.

So, to avoid this, i like to find a Empty table. But it does not stay that way for long, maybe 2-3 hands at most, until others buy in. There was a survey done several years ago that said, "Most people will sit at a BJ table that has other players already at it, vs, being the first/only one one to buy in at an empty table. This is Soooo true.

But far and away, is the, "Let's all go in different directions" ploy. My wife will have friends, usually from Hawaii where we used to live, come visit vegas. We will meet up, and go to a casino, Usually on the strip. They walk in the door, and all take off in different directions....

I am left standing there, trying to see where each of them went, so when it is time to leave, it is easy to find everyone. Translation=Me walking around the entire Casino many times, finding one person, walking more to finially find another person, just to discover that the first one i found,
is now gone.

Then my wife will call me on the cell phone, "I did not hear it ring, but i check in once in a while and see the missed call message", and ask if her friends are with me? Ummm, NO. Then she ask, "Where are they"? All i can say is, "Honey, they are not here at the Roulette table"..............hehehe:p

These B&M annoyances exist the world through... from sleepy guests infront of slot machines to agrressive BJ players... seen them all lol...

If a couple is playing a machine, i would often give up my seat for the lady to sit although im playing the machine.. i just like being courteous

For me, i best enjoy it because u always have CASH or CHIPS in your hand and are able to make a run when you are ahead... No paperwork or delays

The hate for me has gotta be when you need to try and place your bets over 5 people on the AR table... Non-Players here can be so annoying

I hate people who are making:

- noises
- useless advices

- useless advices

I was at Fort Hall Casino (an Indian casino north of Pocatello, Idaho) this weekend and internally rolled my eyes at this guy who gave his "advice" at the virtual blackjack table. The guy refused to stay on anything except 20. He hit 18 at least five times, and, not surprisingly, busted every time. Nonetheless, he was a true believer in his philosophy.

To each their own. At least they aren't playing with my bankroll.
As I left, I found a single-player machine that offered 3:2 blackjack with late surrender (the community table didn't have surrender), as well as full pay jacks or better. I know where I'll be spending my time the next time I go ;)

(The worst part was that I ran out of cash before he did, and I'm the one who's spent hours memorizing basic strategy. Go figure. LOL :D)

People who insist on playing 3rd base at a BJ table, when they have no clue what they are doing. I've adopted a rule.....If I can't play 3rd base, I don't want any part of that table. I like being the last guy who has to make a decision, besides the dealer. That way I don't have some idiot hitting when they should have stayed and vise versa. Instinct players are the worst. Hell with that....play correct stategy, nothing else.

There are plenty of people offering useless advice... They are known as 'Professional loiterers' .. They hope that the useless advise they give you results in some sort of win for you... They then ask you for a buck or 2 as compensation...

B & M Annoyances

Oh, let me count the ways. All of the above, and lets add:
The smokers who sit down next to you and light right up
The people who MUST bump into your chair when negotiating the aisle
The people who stand behind you waiting for your machine
The people to the right and left of me winning when I do not:D LOL
Kids in the casino (The casino resorts do attract some families but they really need a place for the kids to play besides the expensive arcade, esp. when it rains and the pool is closed)
Rude people at the buffet, cutting in line, etc.
Rude people at the casino shows, talking, texting, and taking pictures

All this said, thank goodness for the B & M's or I couldn't gamble anymore,
and there are so many great folks who go. We just returned from the Beau where we played in a slot tournament and we had the best time and met a lot of great folks.

Other's play may upset you but as long as you play the correct way for you (I assume perfect basic strategy), how and where at the table anyone else (some idiot) plays does not effect you as far as your wins, losses, and pushes (over time).

Quite often due to the higher stakes I use to play, the player at 3rd base (usually a somewhat knowledgable player with a 3 card 16 w/ a 4 or 5 for example) would ask me what I wanted him/her to do! I always answered the same, I wanted him/her to do whatever he/she wants to do and forget about me. Then I thanked him/her for asking but it does/did not effect me (unless I know/knew the future draw of the cards)!!

3rd base may be beneficial with a sloppy dealer though as you may be able to catch a glimpse of the hole card!!;)

Hiya: Nash brings up a good point. It is one thing for a person to play BJ and have no clue as to what to do, "they hit their 17 against the dealer 6 up card", and things like that, vs actually asking someone else at the table what they should do. But, imhop, worse of all is when they ask the dealer what they should do, and the dealer points at, "YOU", and tells the player, Ask Him.......:what:.....Don't ask me, It's your money.......

This does not happen often, but it does happen. Red chips are $5. If there are many people at the table, and you say, "Give me $100 in $5 chips", they will sometimes just give you colored chips, "Yellow as example", and place a $5 marker ontop of a yellow chip on the Roulette wheel, so everyone knows you are betting $5, and not $1. This is done so you do not have more than 1 person at the same table, both using Red $5 chips.

On more than one instance, i walked up to a table with $5 red chips. I was the only one with these chips. I started placing them on Numbers. Then another person walked up, Also with $5 red chips, and was also placing them on Numbers. I had not finished yet, but now had no idea what Red chips were mine, that i had already placed, and what chips belonged to the other player?

This is not suppose to happen. The second player is suppose to have their chips removed, and changed to a different color. How else will they know if the #12 hits, and it had 3 Red chips on it, "2 are mine, 1 is another player", who to pay, and how much to play? Station Casino's are really bad, as in letting this happen more than once.

The smoking thing I'm just not having much sympathy over. Isn't it implied that if you are going to play in a smoking establishment, you are going to get exposed to smoking? It is annoying to me when people who sit in the smoking section of the slots floor complain about smoking. Most casinos have a non smoking slot area. Those players who are bothered by the smoking should be playing there. BTW, I am a former smoker, but I would never consider playing in the smoking area and imposing my non smoking will on the smokers.

Many of your points are spot-on!

I personally hate people who are behind you while your playing on a slot machine, and if you win something, they tap you on the shoulders and ask you how much you won.

I'm not very superstitious, but every time that happens, I won't win anything else on that machine.

Yeah that is always a jinx!
BTW quite the nic you're sportin' there doc:lolup:

Personally I find the free suites, free room service, free 5 star restaurants, free shows, free spa, free massages, free drinks, free airfare or limo, free phony ass kissing as if I'm someone special very annoying. I find this very distracting while I'm trying to gamble. Plus everything else being said here, it's amazing I even bother going.

Especially when you consider I could deposit 4K online and get a 100% match free bonus. We all know how easy it is to wager 200K on slot machines before being able to cash out big wins. In fact at a couple of online casinos I think with my comp points I could even get a T-shirt with the casinos name on it.

It's obvious I need my head examined for even setting foot in a land B&M.

Your head is fine. I have the proof but I can not show you but I have investigated. If you can prove otherwise, too bad. I see no reason to send you to the Rogue Pit.

All of these are so damm true it makes me laugh. The smoking thing doesn't bother me as there is no smoking up here anymore but the people who creep behind you breathing on your neck like your machine is the one and only in a casino with thousands thats what pisses me off. Everytime somebody does it I swear I don't win a freaking cent.

Ok, I got a couple after a visit to the Indian casino a couple days ago.

I was playing a machine and my intention was to play it a good long time. This lady comes up and tells me I should go find another machine to play so others will have a chance to play it. I told her to look at it like a lease on a building....as long as my money is in it, I'm not going anywhere. :D

My wife was playing two machines at the same time and this dude walks up and asks her which one she wants to play. She was like, huh? He goes, the sign on the machine says only one machine per customer. Actually, it says "management may request that you only play one machine during peak business hours." So, I asked the guy, are you a manager? No, he says. Good, then get out my grill or I'll call security on you for harassment! That was the last we saw of him. :)

I don't have a problem with smokers in the casinos in Shreveport/Bossier. However, I do have a problem with the ones that come sit next to me, then blow their smoke right in my face. I use to smoke myself and believe that if you want to smoke, then smoke. Just be courteous and at least blow your smoke up away from my face.

Another thing that just torques my jaws, if you are going to leave your machine for any length of time, then lean the chair over (universal sign of a taken machine at these casinos) on the machine. Don't leave $.50 in there and take off and then have a bitch fit when someone else is playing it. Or leave your cards dangling and take off. As if I know that you are coming back.

There is a real big problem in Shreveport/Bossier with people coming in to watch TV and get free drinks. They put $1 in a machine and play a penny a spin just so they can drink for free and watch the big game. And they are usually taking up the machine I want to play.

That's why I've always been in favor of a minimum amount , say $10 worth of action, before you can have a drink, or must at least be playing all lines on the machine, otherwise you are loitering. :D

Reserving machines makes me think of this particular experience I had at the Vehicle Licensing Department once...

I was waiting in a queue and when my turn came up to go to the teller, a gent barged in front of me and said he was before me :what: ..
So i said to him... "Dude, you were nowhere near me in the queue and it’s the first time I see you" ... he turned pointing to an empty chair and said "You see that piece of paper on that chair? … I left it there about an hour ago to say ill be back..."

I burst out laughing and let him go ahead... he was serious and no logic could be injected into his numb skull...
