Are we addicted to convenience?

I had a sort of " ah ha" moment today. I have been moaning and groaning, out right bitching about my lack of ability to win anything over 50 dollars, and nothing but dead spins since last October. No matter how much I would deposit or games i'd play. Finally I wised up and thought, the only way I was going to make any money, was by not spending it. So I put a deposit restriction on my account at VS. I play at another casino but not very often because they have zero rewards and any bonuses have a play through, which is so annoying! Friday I got a dollar something back in cashback, will get nothing tomorrow in casino race money and havent played any battles going on week 2. I did get a free battle token yesterday and made 12 cents in 24 hours. Today I got thinking, pheww! I beat the monster in my head. I thought life was going to come to an end without those " perks" which weren't really perks after all. It was all about convenience. The ability to jump on and know something would be there for me every couple of hours, the end of the week and the beginning of the week. And if I did win anything even though its been months, the fast payouts. I know in everyday life we will always chose the fastest, rewarding system. Do you find that the casinos now use that to their advantage?

I know that feeling - having something free at fixed times like the VS free roll battles. I actually closed my accounts at Virgin Games and Starspins, not because they were bad places, just because I sort of like felt compelled to log on just after midnight to get the 6 picks on the free game every day! I didn't like the expectation to log on every day to a casino account for a freeby and only saw this as a means to get you into an addiction.

Re the VS free roll battles. I love the idea of it, having something to play after you have lost your deposits and up to your limits, but I hate the way they are every two hours. I really would prefer it if you were limited to say 20 free battles a week when qualified. That way it would allow me some peace at night and not knowing I am missing a free battle!! I can see people would easily get addicted to this, so for me I would prefer it being limited in moderation. Some weeks I feel more at ease if I haven't qualified for the free rolls, but each to their own.

End of the day, putting bonuses aside, I much prefer the simple idea of making a deposit, wagers accepted and if you win, they pay out pretty damn quick when requested. If you lose, tough really! Any cashback or race winnings are an added extra.

VS have set the bar rather high in regards to perks that others are never going to be able to emulate them anyway. They're a one-off kind of place....but ultimately all one does there is indirectly pay for these extras anyway. I can imagine not having them all of a sudden must be quite a shock though

Now if casinos tailored these perks individually that would be progress indeed. However, despite the death of bonuses I'm not seeing that much of a scramble to get players long-term with rewards & loyalty points etc. The player turnover is so high it's easy come, easy go with them.

I'd trade all freebies for something actually relevant, like instant withdrawals as standard

The freerolls are pretty worthless. Like the one currently running has 1000fs split between 760 entrants so thats 1.3fs awarded per player . Thats 26p of freespins . Most of the games are 10p minimum spin as well so its even less . Wouldnt lose sleep over missing a freeroll :p
As a perk they are ok I guess but tbh mostly they are just annoying wow I won 5 freespins in spectra oh look I got 19p from those fs lol

The next 5 freerolls are all 10p minimum spin . Makes me laugh how people in the chat get all angry because they aren't doing well in them .. it's like getting angry over 15 pence

Right, but are people addicted to the convenience of knowing they will be there? Even though the odds are against you.

People can be addicted to gambling full stop, it has nothing to do with freeroll but it does feed a need I suppose opposed to depositing.

I don't play there now. In fact I have stopped depositing everywhere and I have caught up on everything I have been meaning to do for a while and enjoying the time away from slots :)

the convenience definitely plays a big part, as we all like what we're comfortable with, but we also think, just 1 more time, last time and i personally love it!
