Poll Are Bonus Buys worth it or is it all a bit of a con?

If you are based in the UK, then you don't have the option of bonus buys on slots. This is most likely a good thing, having watched several streamers do 'their brains' on bonus buys in the hope of impressing their audiences.

So I am curious whether non-UK members actually see any value in Bonus Buys and whether this is restricted to certain slots?

I tend to check out a lot of new slots releases on a VPN, and regularly try out the Bonus Buy feature as I want to know what it is all about (this is the quick route in of course). The normal result is that I am down about 50% of my stake (fun money) on the feature buy, with the rare occasion it being something worth shouting about. Is it something similar in real money play? I get the sense that it is, but only the forum members that buy them will know for sure.

When i still worked in the industry it proved a handy tool to check out game mechanics on new games, and i imagine if you're trying to recreate a bug within a bonus, that cost you money in real play, and you don't have proof, you'd be happy you could use it in freeplay, at least

But in real money mode i'm not really prone to use them. Of course i tried it a plenty, way back when it was only a thing on Bally games, iirc? Maybe it was another provider..Anyway, i already noticed very soon that they can do your balls in really fast, to the point of no believe! I mean, those Bally (or w/e) i clearly recall having a higher RTP advertised, when using those spins, but i swear i had sessions of at least 10 or more completely dead superspins...losing a grand or more profit in 10 spins or something to that tune, i swore i'd never let myself be tempted again

Then years later other providers came out with them, and i was naturally very hesitant to try - but after some time of course i couldn't help myself....

That said, i had some amazing luck with them, and also with all those enhanced spins on various providers. The point is the cost. If you have a really bad session, using bonus buys, it will be very hard to get back up and/or over your starting balance. That's why i only use them if i already built up a decent balance, or right after i cashed out a win and have some left to play with carefree, so to speak...

It's definitely a dangerous feature, especially for newbies and or degenerate gamblers like myself, provided they play drunk and loose

I mean newbies that get into gambling through tiktok, youtube or kick-streamers, of course only see the streamers with endless balances winning millions sometimes, buying bonuses like there's no tomorrow: If you come in with that as your example, and you try it, then get a few good results, you might be in trouble...

I remember seeing people post their disbelief about their huge losses, using bonusbuys, which came to light was mostly because of said scenario above...All well and good, at first -and then reality hits, dead streak galore and possibly a whole years worth of accumulated winnings down the drain in one session...

Just examples but all those things keep confirming that it's a very dangerous feature. I don't think you should be able to spend 3K on a buy with a basebet value of 20p, and get 0 in return, but those options are now a reality..

Wonder how it will develop...

I’ve says it before I’ll say it again.

So long as you have enough money to replace the losses, sooner or later you’ll get a win.

Problem is who has unlimited money?

Watched enough streamers to know it’s absolutely horrific and leads to just more money loss at a more rapid rate.

The real crux of it is the fact it takes the “entertainment” value from the slots themself.

When I'm playing a computer game I see nothing wrong with using cheat codes to skip ahead of the parts I find boring. With slots I see it the same way. Some slots really do only exist as a long grind so that you can play the bonus. If they removed the slot completely and just had the bonus as it's own game many players would be happier, so why not give those with sensible gaming regulators the chance to do just that?

I should have added that I enjoy trying to spin in a bonus. Landing those three scatters is very satisfying.

Simply buying bonuses feels like you are trying to win (or lose) as much money as fast as you can in the shortest possible time. Don’t get me wrong. I love to win money but I also want to get as much playing time as I can with my deposits.

From someone who has done bonus buys alot, it is super dangerous and no casino should allow them ever.

This coming from someone who is up around 10k lifetime on them too.

It gave me the chance to hit max wins on gates of olympus and 30,000x on punk rocker 2. Plus some other big wins.

But if I didnt have self control, I could easily be down. I have done so many bonus buys on certain slots its still super rare to hit a big one.

They are expensive to do and very easy to blow large sums of money on. You can get in the line of thinking "ok these last 10 bonus buys havent paid, I should hit a good one soon".

Hell no. It doesnt work that way and I saw a friend streamer lose $250,000 buying the dog house megaways bonus one after another. Sank her life. Dont believe me? Go and do white rabbit bonus buys. You can do 100 bonus buys in a row and likely not get your return back once (my record is 34 bonus buys in a row all losing money)

If I had a vote to get rid of them. I would vote in favor without question.

If you have lots of money and self control they can be fun. But I feel like thats a pretty rare situation.

Sometimes when I do a deposit without claiming a bonus and I want to clear that 1x or 3x deposit wager those bonus buys do come in handy. If I have made a decent profit or lost around 10% of my starting balance I do bonus buys on White rabbit. I don't touch any other bonus buy game.

If Id have to get also my thought about it, Id remove that option, but market is there, also the quick advertising of big wins, max wins.

Its a bonus game - one way with a little boost of RTP added to big wins in certain aount of buys. I will always prefer base game to play. Its a whole game RTP, and for example apart from one bonus buy onWgute Rabbit hitting all expapnding reels to max 5k x bet win, I had my most 1k - 5k x bet wins on base games. NLC, BTG, Tunderkick, Pragmatic.. if I did say 5000 bonus buys VS normal play - yep 1000% I had more above 1k wins from base games than any bonus or superbonus buy. Its more wide open way to win big + most importantly its more fun, more exciting, thrilling and seeing possibilities and mechanics combinations of what could happen in base game, thats what I love about games.
