Anyway to get around self exclusion?

Question for you all, may seem stupid and I think we already know the answer. My boyfriend submitted a self exclusion from a website on Friday, didn’t go through right away and Saturday he won 23,000 on the same website using his daily free spin. He pulled out 1000$ of it to start to see if it would work since it said it didn’t accept our bank and he had to open a new bank account. Yesterday the 1,000 deposited. Today the self exclusion went through and he’s now locked out of the account with 22,000 sitting there.

Is there a way he can get around the self exclusion at least just to get the funds. From what we’re searching the answer is a big fat no. I told him to at least contact support and try but he’s basically beating himself up rn. Maybe we could get around it by the fact they didn’t process the exclusion when he submitted it and let him keep playing, win the money then shut down his account? Idk it seems fishy to me that they let him keep playing, win a LARGE ammount then shut down his account before he would’ve been able to withdrawal the full amount bc you can only pull 9,000 at a time, transactions take 24 buisness hrs and u can’t submit multiple withdrawals at the same time. So he wouldn’t have been able to have it all pulled out until like Friday, a week after submitting the exclusion.

Hello,

Generally speaking you can expect the “big fat no” to be the typical response here. That said, an honourable casino would take the time of the SE request as a cut-off on all activity: return any deposits made thereafter and cancel any winnings likewise. The idea being that neither party should benefit. OR, if they are sticklers for procedure, they could rule that the SE was not in effect until due process had been completed: refuse to return any deposits but honour any winnings until the paperwork had gone through.

Of course a less honourable casino would do whatever benefits them the most, namely refuse to return deposits AND cancel any winnings until such time as it moves them to do otherwise.

In other words it depends very much on what casino operator you are dealing with and what jurisdiction they are licensed in. That last bit — the jurisdiction — can become quite important in such cases. A tough jurisdiction will have rules here that the casino must follow; a lax jurisdiction with probably sit on its hands and let the operator do whatever they are inclined to do which, you might well imagine, won’t likely be to your bf’s benefit.

If you care to provide more details — namely the casino, or at least the casino’s licensing jurisdiction — we might be able to provide more detailed and relevant responses.

How was the self exclusion submitted?

The gambling commission guidance says that funds should be returned after a self exclusion, so you should be ok if, for example, you had requested SE by email which wasn’t answered immediately.

If you used an online submission, they should have imposed the SE immediately as Jan says.

Don't think the gambling commission guidance will matter much here since he is a USA player. So guess it all depends on if it's a half decent casino or one of the crap ones USA players have to choose from.

Apologies I missed the OP location! No idea how it works over there but I imagine the same.
