Hi
First time posting on this forum so apologies in advance if I've put this in the wrong place.

I've joined up to a casino called GrandIvy and deposited £500 winning £11,455. I was advised I could withdraw a maximum of £5000 per week so I went ahead and withdrew £5000 and received a confirmation email to back this up. Now 4 days down the line and I'm still waiting on my withdrawal to go through however I have been contacted by 3 of my credit card providers asking if transactions made were done by me. They were done between 11pm and 5am at which point I was asleep.
I thought instantly maybe my bank details had been passed on and sold so the bank and card providers blocked all my accounts and the transactions which was expected.
I then noticed I had emails welcoming me other casinos and betting sites, a PayPal account was attempted to be set up (mines was cancelled around 3 months ago again due to somebody accessing my PayPal and sending the money to another account in London). I never agreed to anything of the sort and was in bed as I was working at 8am and have a 3 year old so would not be setting up 4 different betting accounts at this time.

The time came when I had to go to work, when I got to my van my door had been left ajar and my
'Work'Wallet (only £40 in cash) and my phone had been stole along with some tools & and then the van was left in a bit of a state. I got
A new Samsung s8 on Sunday so the phone left in the van was not being used for the last few days and didn't have a sim card but wasn't cleared.

The area is pretty bad for break ins on cars, a few weeks ago my personal car handle has stuck in the open position as somebody had tried the handle so it's not uncommon.

I've reported it to the police and they've investigated and gave me a crime reference number but said not to expect much luck in have the items returned which is understandable considering there was a 14hpur period the van was left sitting unwatched and nobody has came forward to give information regarding it.

Long story short I got an email saying that the withdrawal had been declined. Following all of this carry on I was now very concerned. I attempted to log on to my account and it was froze and stated to contact via live chat. I contacted them and they said my account had been closed the previous night. The funds had been played through and my withdrawals cancelled. All the money was gone but also around £6500 was attempted to be taken from my cards on the same night.
Probably the worst thing I've done is the night I've won the money I posted it
on social media which I'm sure has made me a target.

I've contacted GrandIvy to see if there is anything they can do, they've asked for the crime reference number and I've advised that there was fraudulent use of my cards at the same time, my wallet and phone was stolen along with tools and other bits and bobs, and that I was targeted by fraud around 2 months ago.

They're saying it's gonna take between 7-21 days to investigate which is really annoying but understandable... I'm just wondering if there is anything else i can do?

Also what the general opinion is and whether I'll have this money returned?
If it was just my account being hacked I'd say I'd have no chance... but the fact everything else has happened and that the police are involved it may give me a leg to stand on.

Thanks for the time for reading this, and any information, advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Matt

I can't think of anything else, it seems as though you have done all you can for now.
It's frustrating having to wait, but they are probably going to contact police and possibly card companies, and it won't be a 5 minute job.
I would also report the £11k as theft too, if you had it and now you don't due to the thief then they have stolen it, doesn't matter that they didn't get it.
I think you might have to fight a little with GrandIvy, all Caddell casinos are decent but customer support can be lacking. However, in my view, if the money was used fraudulently then it should be refunded. Maybe they would give you the IP address(es) of who was logged in and with a bit of luck, could help the police catch them :)

Why would a robber break in, steal your wallet, log onto your personal computer, log onto your casino account and play away your funds?
Do you keep all passwords and account names neatly saved in your wallet?

The break-in and robbery sounds horrible, I hope you are insured and/or get stuff back - but it would surprise me if it had anything to do with your casino account and I would not be surprised if the casino shares my sentiment.

Where did he say anything about them logging into his PC?
Do you keep all your passwords and account names neatly saved in your wallet? Not sure why you are asking that, I don't but I am logged in and passwords saved on my phone.

I've seen stranger things than this happen, maybe you should have more of an open mind. It would actually be pretty easy for the casino to prove one way or another, depending on times things were done.

All I am saying is that I doubt the robbery has anything to do with the money being gone on the casino account unless the password to the phone or casino account was visible somewhere together with what was robbed.
Sure, if someone got access to my computers or phone they could enter my casino accounts but how would they get into my phone in the first place without the password?

If it's a home computer without password, why would a robber risk taking the time to log in and play away 6500, and how would he even know where to look?

The casino will be able to see the IP logins either way, so for OPs sake I hope they believe him, but realistically I very much doubt it.

Not everyone password protects phones, and I can get round some of them if needed, so it could be that.
He might have been bored, he might have been fucking with him 'for a laugh', it could be a 'friend' who did it after seeing it on social media, getting jealous, and saw a way to screw him over. Many many reasons why he could do it.

Ultimately they will be able to see the IP, device ID, they may use iSnare (not sure if caddell do) all tools that might prove if it was the OP who used the funds or not.

Of course there are other scenarios but going from whats been posted I don't see any reason to doubt the account of what happened.

I'll be honest I think I'm really gonna be struggling but as I said hoping the fact there is a police report regarding the stollen phone and wallet will strengthen my case.
The phone didn't have a password on it, however, all my log ins in the past week were done via a new phone so they should then be able to identify that was me logging in, the other phone hadn't been used log in to this account for around 1 month, so
Hopefully they will look at this as somebody else accessing it.

Also my passwords were saved on the phone so it wouldn't have been that hard, and considering I had received emails and a text confirming a £5000 withdrawal, that would take 5-7 days to process, it wouldn't be that hard to realise where to look for cash.

I know it's gonna be very unlikely, but as I've said surely they will look at it and say it's too much going on for it all to be a coincidence?

I've wrote the cash off, and if I get it it's a bonus, just hope they look at it in my favour. Even if at the very least they could give me some it back, or bets to that amount... would
At least give me a chance
To recover it myself.

Possibly... but when withdrawing the money, its states this can only
Be done to a card that is under the same name as the account holder.
The only thing I can think of is they've tried to set up a Paypal account in my name when I already had one which was blocked...were they then gonna wire the amount to another account like last time?

Realistically I think GrandIvy will refuse to do much... which I understand isn't their fault but in the same respect really annoying.

I'm just an old man who has been around the block a few times. Just an assumption based on what the OP said above,

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark

This is WHY I am uncomfortable with this trend to doing things like online banking and playing casinos on one's phone. It's so easy to nick a phone, and anyone who knows what they are doing can inflict alot of damage very fast if they can get inside a stolen phone. It's because so many people do these things on their phones that thieves will automatically search a phone they have just nicked to see how far they can go.
Unless the thief knows a bit about online casinos, he may not have known how to get at all the money left in the account, and thus played it out in frustration. However, he knew enough to think of trying to get a Paypal account set up, which as we know is not going to get at the money.
If the login was from the old phone, the casino would not flagged this up because it would already be a "trusted device" from when you used it.

Unlike the banks, there is no obligation on a private business to take the hit when a customer is defrauded, it would be a case of demonstrating negligence on the part of the company in allowing the fraudster to get away with it. For a UK player, this falls under consumer protection laws, and there is a requirement that the consumer is "treated fairly", and some companies make what they call "goodwill gestures" which allow them to reimburse a customer without having to admit formal legal liability.

There may of course be something in the UKGC regulations regarding the security of accounts on mobile devices so that there is something in place to prevent possession of the phone making it easy to gain possession of the account.

One thing is certain - the robber is definitely a casino fan!!! I wonder if he’s following this thread ...

Hope the whole story ends well for the OP and he gets his money back .

I'm trying to delve into the criminal mind and understand more about the bankroll mob - Why would someone log into an account to PLAY and then demolish a balance if they were thieves?

I mean wouldn't they rather attempt to change payment methods or request a withdrawal to another account instead of smash a balance away?

Maybe some of you have experienced the same wallet stealing balance bashing gang somewhere along the line?

Nate

My instinct is telling me OP reversed and lost the money himself.

Most likely he's in a state of shock and disbelief at his own actions that the story of a criminal logging into his account to gamble his winnings is more believable, even to him. We've all been there - that feeling of "how could I have done this?" The shame of having posted about his big win on social media would add to that.

Several people have already stated the most obvious thing here which is the play history of the criminal who lost his money, but OP seems to be ignoring that. Surely one would be curious to know exactly how the criminal spent the money. Every gambler has a play style pattern unique only to them. I imagine the "criminal" played OPs favourite games which is why he's not acknowledging it.

For me however the most striking thing is that in such a well crafted post, there's not even a hint of anger towards the criminal. OP seems very accepting about what happened and how he has to face the consequences of his actions.

Matthew2, I fully understand if you want to tell me to "**** off" right now, but feel free to PM me if there's anything you want to discuss.

That is of course a possibility, but its also very easy for the casino to prove, as if it was overnight then theres a good chance he would have been using his home wi-fi for a start, plus obviously playing style, and the other stuff casinos can see in the backend (which is more than a lot of people think!) etc.

Wouldn't be the brightest of things to attempt to do if that were the case.

Would be very easy to prove and can be done within minutes. An IP search and the cookies they plant on your computer/browser.

Seems to me he reversed and lost it and kept going to on tilt to recoup the money. And now this is how he thought there may be a small chance to get it back.

Hate to make accusations but Ive seen this story on here too many times not to call it like it is.

If I am wrong, I apologize.

This is how the casino will approach this. They will know that some players will come back, go on tilt, lose the lot, and then try anything to get it back. Some have even gone so far as to fake a crime and get a police reference number, knowing that the police will often leave it at that and allow the reference number to be proof that the theft was reported for insurance purposes.

For this reason, the casino isn't just going to refund the money overnight, they will conduct a thorough investigation into the claims first.

Some casinos have been known to bring their own cases against players who "try it on", although usually this is when they have been taken for large sums or by an organised syndicate.

if you believe a criminal used his account to lose that big win you belong in a nut house.

OP clearly played it all back, and for 11k i'd happily try and play the theft card.

Sorry for the robbery - awful

but someone logging into your casino account playing the funds ... call me skeptic but i smell bullshit here. Likely scenario you logged in reversed and spunked it all back. Shoot me if im proven wrong.

Quite easy for the casino to track this though, IP address, MAC address of computer used , location , times and of course betting patterns ...

I could be wrong ................. but .... ? hmmmm make your own mind up

I work with paypal allot with my business, and for a person to set up a new paypal account in the UK they need names/ dob / full address which are all verified on sign up and not just with a card ... and you dont add a debit card until the paypal account is actually open. Its one of the most secure systems there is. And even when a card is added its needs verifaction by sending a code with a mico deposit to your bank. Any one trying to set up a basic paypal account who has just half a brain would know this ... and therefore know it was pointless to try and do.

I think you need to say goodbye to this money.

Glad I read what I was thinking from others before posting.

I sincerely hope I/some of us are wrong on this one but experience and times gone by tell me otherwise.

Just think if the 11K was spunked away, OP will have a good amount of LP's - Lets see if these are still there, a would be thief would quite probably not know of these or how to redeem them, a player on full tilt certainly would ;)

That's a lot of LPs. I sincerely hope he has a record player :p

I was thinking he meant records - sat here all confuddled for a second thinking he never mentioned a record collection being stolen....then I read 'redeem' and had a lightbulb moment - twat!:laugh::laugh:
Goddamm Jono and his bamboozling code- speak :laugh:
