Hey,

Is it mandatory for a user account to be downgraded/restricted for forum members who quit online gambling?

I'm sure I've seen in the past where accounts have been changed to 'Quit Gambling' accounts. Is this optional?

As far as I'm aware it's a request (by the member) sent to max or Bryan to be moved into the Quit Gambling section
I think a few who've hit a clear downward spiral have been moved there for their own benefit

Thanks for your reply.

I called it quits back in September. I hit a dream run lasting almost a month (including 2x £20,000 Royal Flushes) and knew there would never be a better time.

I will wait and see what happens to my account now that I have said this.

Hopefully it isn't restricted as I enjoy reading about the industry and contributing on threads where I have the knowledge to do so.

If it does get killed, it was nice being part of things here and I wish you all well.

I dont gamble anymore online but still enjoy this forum and all areas. Of course good to get yourself placed in the quit gambling section if struggling - if not enjoy reading )

I certainly still enjoy being here on the forum. I am also very interested in what will happen with UK online operators as the UKGC tightens it's grip.

I'm certainly not anti-gambling now either. I just restrict my play to bricks and mortar casinos these days. There are none local to me so it's not a regular occurrence.

With all the SOF/SOF checks, a win online stopped feeling like something to be excited about. It seems even the best operators are becoming toxic when it comes to withdrawals. The stress I faced in getting my large withdrawals processed is something I never want to go through again.

I read a lot about people saying, UK wise, they get stressed over if they're being paid. Dont know what casino's you used to play at but if i HAD to bet my house i'd say the following will give no no issues: William hill, Bet 365, Novibet (unless SOW) Unibet and Sky - still a lot of casinos here that will not hit you with BS. Even Videoslots.

I think this is a real concern for players making high value deposits and withdrawals.

I had given a single operator almost all of my play for 6 years.
Before I called it quits, I was asked to complete SOW twice in 2 years, despite no increase in annual turnover.
They also checked a £20,000 Royal Flush AND an £8,000 Royal Flush with NetEnt, taking more than 5 days to give the 'all clear' on both occasions.

I closed my account with them (refused to complete another SOW) and played briefly with MrQ. They were great. I had three large wins with them, including a £20,000 Royal - all paid promptly but it was a worrying time wondering if that would be the case.

A perfect time to quit on a high, so I did just that. Registered with GamStop for 5 years to remove any temptation and now only play at land based casinos... who knows if SOW will be requested there in the fullness of time!

As Dionysus says, generally you have to request to be moved into the Quit Gambling group here. No problem having full access and not playing though. I mean I no longer play, it would be a tad annoying if I was moved into the Quit Gambling group LOL
I agree!
This is such an active and helpful community; the forum and the reps registered here have been a great help to me over the years.
