I don't understand why some casinos request personal information for a withdrawal. Where could the fraud be? Somebody using my Neteller account to withdraw his winnings? Go ahead, I give you permission!

I'm always using Neteller so I won't have to share my credit cards with anyone and I even opened a different bank account just for Neteller. Not good enough, I would have to send proof of... what? My age? That should be done BEFORE I make my first deposit. Proof of my identity? They don't know me when I start depositing, why do they need to know me when I start winning.

Too many casinos out there who don't request personal info; should I just not bother?

i know because

This is a strategy because all casino hope that yuo reverse your withdraw.
NEVER NEVER REVERSE A WITHDRAW!this is the first rule of a good player.
But the best reputabile casino as criptologic, boss media, don't ask driver license.
this is a strategy of all RTG casino.
a lot playtech.
some microgambing.
I can understand it if a player deposit with credit card, but where is the problem if a player deposit with neteller and ask withdraw with neteller?
when i sent money to my friends with neteller and digit your e-mail i see yuor name, also the casino when send money see our name.
A good casino don't ask never documentations to withdraw with neteller and never use term:BONUS ABUSER.
WHO IS A BONUS A BONUS FOR A CASINO?
i am the answer:A PLAYER THAT WON!!!!

There are quite a few casinos that ask for this.

I agree, with Neteller it should not be necessary.

Personally, I never send it. But most people I know do send it in all the time.

There seems to be some misinformation floating around that indicates Neteller accounts are exempt from fraud or chargebacks. This is not true and I have mentioned this a number of times (I know not everybody reads everything that I write - oh well :D).

There are plenty of reasons to request copies of IDs. Some of this is to oblige the terms and conditions of licensing or banking agencies. Sometimes it's the requirement of the casino. I do not see it as a delay tactic, since many players have a copy already scanned and waiting to be sent. Takes an additional 30 seconds to send via email. What's the scam? And what's the big deal?? :D

I still don't understand why these reasons always occur on a withdrawal and not on a deposit! :what:

I think the main reason is that the loss for the casino is even greater when doing a chargeback after a withdrawal than "only" disputing the (lost) deposit.
Otherwise too many people would be deterred if a casino claims all these documents before you are able to start playing.

Let's be realistic. How many customers do you think a casino would get if they required everybody to send in ID before they were allowed to deposit? Can't really blame the casino that they wait until you cash out. And if it's really a big problem for you I'm sure the casino wouldn't mind to approve your documents before you played.

I guess another point is that, as VirtualTed would tell us, most customers never withdraw anything at all. The casino may as well save themselves and the player the hassle of checking ID on deposit.

Some casinos use ID as an excuse to delay payment & make cashing in so unpleasant their players are likely to reverse withdrawals and lose them - but these casinos are well off to the rogue end of the scale.

my idea

I think that the best rules is every casino must ask ID+UTILY BILL ,before a palyer deposit. The account must be approvved before deposit not after withdraw.
I hope that this rules will be done from all casino.
in this way no more problems

I agree piccios. The only problem with that is that someone suddenly fancys a flutter online one evening and they cant unless they have registered a week ago!!

If the UK ever gets round to regulating online casinos I rekon that will be a requirement to open an account. To get in a UK B&M casino requires photo ID and a 24 hr wait.

** Hey all, this is an age old debate. I have figured the following for myself:
Because there are fraudsters phishing for your information, it is good for the casino to ask for ID when they pay you to a)insure that it WAS you who made the purchase, and b) it WILL be you recieving the money back! I don't understand what the casino stand to gain with requesting this information... if anything, the way I see it, they are doing you a favour. You hear so oftern from players 'my roommate did this, or that' and then you dispute the charge? Well, in this event, if you are aware of the buy, you will not mind being asked certain details! no should that very same casino just go and refund, and then it turns out that those funds were somehow re-directed or whatever, then you scream and shout at them! So seriously. the reason for not requesting it on the purchase is because a)you will soon enough complain if it was not you and b)you won't be happy having to wait for something you have now already PAID for would you?! just a thought. **

In my opinion the fact that they don't ask for the documents before accepting the purchase means that they DON'T WANT to know where the money come from!!
I have no problem sending my ID+UtilityBill (it takes quite a long time been paid even in those casinos not asking for 'em) but i think the only reason for asking these is the hope in that tempting "reverse withdrawal" button ;)

Frankly, I worry about Identity theft.

With all the information the casino then has on you, what's to keep one of their employees to use it to commit identity theft and steal you poor?

That is still extremely difficult to combat in many cases and it just worries me to give anyone that much info about me.

They don't know me personally, so they don't trust me, well I don't know and trust them either!
