A Typical Obama guy......

ok.......this guy 2 houses down. Great guy! Best friend forever! But.... A Hispanic who sued Quaker State for damages to his back...... He worked for an oil=change garage. Claims that he is injured for life after lifting and moving a 55 gallon barrel of oil.

Gets a great check every month! When I left my last home, he wanted the freezer in the basement that weighes about 700 pounds. I said it's too heavy to move, but he insisted that he and a friend could lift it. He claimed that he lifts that kinda weight all the time. I said to my friend........."this guy is getting checks for the rest of his life on the government because of a bad back.......yet he wants to carry out this freezer?

He works on cars every day in his back yard....... Easy money for him.

This is bullshit! The guy works harder at home collecting free money than many people work on the job!

He has cars coming in for repairs almost daily. This whole system sucks!

I was out on my bike tonight.. I ran right over his Obama sign on his lawn!

My guy is on disability and it took 2 years of hard work to make that happen. He never got any financial aid during the whole time, no food stamps and only 3 months of medical assistance. When they figured out he couldn't be sent back to work, he was cut off from that. He has a compression fracture of the T7 vertebrae that could have been fixed had he not had to wait 2 years for any kind of assistance.

And then you go down to the local TDHS, Texas Dept. of Human Services, on Monday morning and see who is signing up for food stamps, financial aid, housing etc. Boyfriend sits in the car while girlfriend and all the kids go to to apply. The dancers at the local strip club make a pretty good living too.

I pay my taxes so they can collect welfare. What a country!!

tim, I love ya man, but:

What the )!#($&*@)!#($&@(*#&$@(*#$& does this have to do with Obama. Just because he has an Obama sign up in his yard, that makes EVERYONE that supports Obama just like him? Get a grip.

If you want to stir up a pissing contest, at least do it with relevant information.

And, if you really want to make a difference, besides bitching about it, find out everything you can regarding his lawsuit and report him to the proper authorities.

Hell, set his ass up. Find something that he really wants, or even PAY HIM to move something heavy of yours. Then take pictures while he's doing it.

Absolutely correct!

The people who really need help don't get it, or it takes forever and one hell of a fight to get it, and the people who "play" the system get it with barely any questions and get it almost immediately.

This is going back about 30 years, but it's still relavant....my best friends father left her mother, she worked but didn't make enough money for rent/food/etc...she tried to get help (welfare) and they told her she made something like $20 a month too much. She never received any kind of help.

There also was a woman in that neighborhood that would keep having children when her welfare was about to run out (I think after the age of 5 something happens with your welfare, I'm not too sure) so as soon as her kids reached a certain age, she would have another child. She has 7 or 8 children, and I do not ever remember her working.

i knew a woman one time , she was a 3erd generation wefare recip. her grandmother, was on it, her daughter is on it, the woman is also on it, now her pregnant 18 year old is guess what?........on it, the 3 of the living, grandma passed away, but they live in low income housing, all 3 have never held a public job, but take jobs that pay under the table(cash) and the 3erd generation woman still has 5 more kids to raise( well the goverment and tax dollars). i am a firm believer if you need it , it should be there for you, ie, elderly, single moms, not those rearing a kindergarden class, the ones that are dis- abled and the mentally challenged, theres a bill cosby video, someone had on one of the threads or it may have just been some remarks on this issue, but this is one mess that needs to be cleaned up whom ever wins next month, as i told in the storie and its a true one, its been going on for decades.......time for change.........................laurie

THat is exactly why people who do need SSD have such hard time getting it. It took me 8 months to get (should of been 3 but in PA theres a 2yr back up).
You are put through the ringer to get disability because of malingerers. First you have to fill out the application, then they send you novel size questionaire, then you have to see their doctors and psychiatrists , then you fill another replica of that novel again, then you have phone interviews just to get denied (73% of americans do, thats the norm) then you have to get either an appeal and wait 8-16 months or get an on the record decison by the ALJ (thats what i did). If your denied, you gotta do it ALL over again.
THank God I had enough medical records for the ORD because it blows my mind what ppl go through to get it.

I could see if maybe the guy was having a good day but a freezer??? THats not a good day, thats a good life

There's some states (CA is one, I think) that have specific rules in place regarding having kids while on welfare.

It all boils down to: Have as many more kids as you wish, but we won't help support them.

I wish ALL states would work this way.

I had to fight for 2 years, all of which I didn't get any sort of help, before I got SSDI. I, like many others, were turned down the first time, and had to appeal to get it.

I'm just glad that they went by my doctors records so I didn't have to see one of their doctors who wouldn't have known me. How could any doctor say that you can or cannot work if you only see them once or twice?

I totally agree with you on that WInbig. I didnt have to see their Rhuematologist because I had 4 different Rheumy's with a formal FMS diagnosis. THats what I mean though, I had to go to 4 different doctors just so I didnt have to go to theirs. I did have to have a psychological exam, they make every applicant do that (i think). Maybe they made me go for the PTSD, not sure

I think CA will pay up to 2 kids for welfare. I just think its aweful. I have this neighbor who has 3 kids with 3 different dads. The first one was a marriage but the other 2 were on purpose. She even told me "having kids are my job" She gets child support from 3 different guys and doesnt have to work. Plus she gets the credit on her taxes (thousands per child). She is under 40 and hasnt worked in years. Everyone has circumstances for the most part but this person is abusing the system and it bugs me.

Welfare is really meant for Women who were married or in a relationship and they had children and the wife stayed at home and then something happened to the Man (death, divorce, etc) and welfare is suppose to be used a stepping stone for the women who really needed help because they never worked before because the Man provided. But to get pregnant on purpose just to get a check??? ugh!

Do you like gambling online, Tim?

Vote for McCain and you can kiss your RIGHT to do so goodbye.

I hope you're wrong, and I'll be honest with you..I don't think either choice is a winner. I think McCain made a huge mistake by not choosing Leiberman as his running mate. That's just my personal opinion. In these times I think I have to put national security before online gambling as a priority, and between the two guys, I really think McCain would be stronger in that respect.

The first sentence is the best I've heard from you yet :) I think we're screwed either way we vote.

Online gambling is second on the list under the "crime" section for their agenda, right under " Stopping Online Child Predators and Ending Child Pornography".

It seems the GOP is making it one of their top priorities to bring an end to online gambling in the United States, at least until the LEGALIZED land-based casinos get the powers that be in their back pocket and launch online casinos of their own.

That's a joke right? We can do BOTH. :D

The GOP will bankrupt this country if we keep them in office. You would rather save Iraq instead of your own country? Bush LIED to you dude. Get a grip! The war in Iraq has NOT made us safer even if you have the illusion that we are.

It's time we got back the respect of the world and stop acting like cowboys out to blow up other countries by going to war with anyone that looks at us funny!

McSame is NOT going to win and we will end the war in Iraq.

#1 - Stopping online child pornography and child predators
#2 - Internet Gambling
#3 - Ridding our streets of gangs
#4 - Locking Up Criminals
#5 - Reforming Prisons and Serving Families
#6 - Protecting Law Enforcement Officers
#7 - Improving Law Enforcement
#8 - Continuing the Fight against Illegal Drugs
#9 - Protecting the Victims of Crime
#10 - Securing Our Civil Liberties
#11 - Renewing Neighborhoods, Building Communities

Doesn't #10 conflict with #2?

Because our Constitution is based on the principles of individual liberty and limited government, we must always ensure that law enforcement respects the civil and constitutional rights of the people. While we wage war on terrorism in foreign lands, it is sometimes necessary for intelligence agencies and law enforcement officials to pursue terrorist threats at home. However, no expansion of governmental powers should occur at the expense of our constitutional liberties.

If the statement in bold was true, then every official that voted for the UIGEA should be locked up. Banning something that's NOT a federal crime, and also legal in many states, is definitely against the constitution. We all know what the end result of Prohibition was, and I don't see this online gambling prohibition ending any different.

I also like how they put Internet gambling higher than both #6, #8 and #9.

I have no idea what you're talking about, and maybe you don't either. When and where did I say that I support the war in Iraq? I didn't! I think it's a total waste and that we need to get the military back home and stop wasting all this money and lives. Not choosing Obama does not mean I support the war in Iraq.

I am pro-Obama and my mom pro-McCain...............we had this war discussion the other day and she said Obama wants to move the troops from Iraq to Afghanistan.............is this true? Anyone heard of this?

Yes, it's true because Afghanistan is where the REAL war is and the General said that we desparately need more troops asap.

My problem with Iraq is that it's bankrupting our country and taking resources that are needed elsewhere and Iraq did NOT attack us and we are no safer being there. It's a no brainer. :)

I'd rather spend 12 billion dollar a month in the US instead of Iraq where our brave soldiers are being killed for NO reason every friggen day just because the GOP wants to play cowboys and indians!

I haven't heard any good arguments for why Obama makes people scared. Please provide good arguments, so I don't have to make assumptions about the people who make this "scared" claim.

I'm all for political discourse. I think Obama's tax plan is going in the right direction. Even Joe the plumber will use Obama's tax plan for his benefit.

"I want to set the record straight: Currently I would not fall into Barack Obama's $250,000-plus," he said. "But if I'm lucky in business and taxes don't go up then maybe I can grow the business and be in that tax bracket - well, let me rephrase it. Hopefully, that tax won't be there."

And before you go into some rant about the "liberal" media, Where does FOX news stand? Are they the liberal media too? Cause they sure talk a lot of crap.

Well that's cool and kinda refreshing...........isn't Bin Ladin hiding in Arghanistan...or Pakistan...he switches a lot :D......so the good news is our troops are leaving Iraq  but the bad news is they're going to Afghanistan...or Pakistan......ok, well at least we are actually doing something about terrorism..............who's responsible for 9/11? Have we figured that out yet?

Bin who?

Bin and gone.

I think you will find the Neo Cons had good reasons to invade Iraq but it had nothing to do with terrorism.
Of course many people pointed that out in the UK to Blaire so we changed the reason to WMD's.
Of course anyone who knew anything about Iraq at that time (including UK and US) knew that they had no WMD's the only ones they ever had were supplied by the US and they used those on the Iranians so that was ok.
When that was pointed out the reason for invasion was changed to Regime change.
A pity they never got around to telling us the real reason but you really do not have to be overly bright to figure out why, invasion is a selective process and selection is based on 3 things, location, location, location.
