After seeing sodax77's new avatar (brilliant stuff), it occurred to me that JohnSteed should perhaps tackle the lofty assignment of compiling a Top Ten Avatar list.

While I can't imagine anyone topping sodax, it would be cool to see JS' assessment of things. :notworthy

Hi "greedygirl" :) ,

Well, the thought had crossed my mind. It's a great idea! But, I feel that THAT would be too biased of an opinion. Certainly fun though.

Oh darn-it... too tempting to pass-up...

Oh, alright... If I DID have to make a "Top-10" Avatar's List though, it would go like this...

"Top-10 Avatar's List"

(in John Steed's eyes)

#1
Simmo!

:notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

- The handle/avatar works oh-so-well together. I would imagine that Simmo! would be a fun person to hang-around and gab with. I think his avatar says as much.

#2
GrandMaster

- Scholarly, adroit, serious-minded, intimidating, and highbrow. The picture couldn't be more precise in defining the handle (and perhaps the man behind-the-handle).

#3
Slotchik
(as "Jane Jetson
")

-With hand-on-hip, it just made sense with all the ??? and !!! responses that Slotchik routinely uses. Tough yet fun.

#4
PhilipfromParis

(as "the Fonze")

- Tacky and spot-on. Philip seems upbeat in his posts, as does "the Fonze" in that particular photo.

#5
WarriorCherokee

- Colorful, vibrant, and BIG.

#6
KasinoKing
(as the fat man in the tux)

- Worked VERY well for me when I first found Casinomeister.com. I somehow miss that avatar, despite being petrified of it for so long.

#7
Jetset

- Sure it's simple enough, but there's so much more to it. Studious, smart, informative, which goes with the handle. The avatar marks simplicity at its best.

#8
Sodax77
(as the spinning-cube)

- A technilogical breakthrough for avatars. 3-D at it's finest.

Sidenote: You wrote the above post while I was writing this. Odd stuff...

#9
Mousey

- In a nutshell... cute. Makes me almost want to go out and buy a pet mouse and have it fitted for glasses.

#10
gaputernut
(as the happy computer)

- Again, like "Sodax77", pushing the envelope on what can be done with the avatar.

"Noteworthy" avatar...

"Silcnlayc" for "special" reasons. Let your mind wander a little... (ahem)

Steed takes a 5 minute break...

"Top-5 Avatar's"
that either
"annoy me" or "creep-me-out"

#1
2brnot2b

- Fucking annoying. I don't like fighting, but I really want to beat-the-techno-snot out of the person in the photo.

#2
"Casinomeister"
(as the devilish Santa Claus)

- We know that Mr. Bailey is a handsome lad, but while I'm okay with the green wrestling mask (or whatever that is), and I'm happy that he participated to make an appearance in that particular outfit... IF I had a child, I would NOT let my child near the screen. Sorry sir, but it's too creepy.

#3
sal monella

- Makes me want to vomit. :puke:

#4
KasinoKing
(as a "suspect" Santa Claus)

- While I applaud the whole "Merry Crimbo" theme... nevertheless your Majesty, in my humble opinion, it's still creepy stuff.

#5
tim5ny
(a few months back)

- The one with his daughter was a great idea, but the quick-motion was murder on the eyes (even moreso than the lime-green I occasionally use for coloring text... worse than THIS). That only lasted a couple of hours, if I recall.

Sidenote: "greedygirl", I was JUST thinking about your avatar, when I was glossing through the latest "GAMBLING ONLINE MAGAZINE". It reminds me of "GoneGambling", although I never really go there.

Y'know, talking *creepy* avatars the one that sticks in my mind was that of "Jyde" who used to post here a lot and was a great contributor. His avatar was a silently screaming person slapping her face simultaneously with both hands and it always unsettled me. Very effective.

Well now you guys just make me wanna go out and find something that says "this is me." Feel so naked without one, lol.

Great list, JS.

Agreed. I'm hoping that I'll bump into Simmo! in London this month, but I know I'll be disappointed when I realize he isn't that goofy purpley-blue blob in person. :p

Gawd. Now I'm gonna have to change my avatar. I'd hate to think anyone would associate me with GoneGambling.

On second thought...

Well, on second thought, you do sorta' look like that claymation "orange" that sang opera in that vignette from "Sesame Street". Does that help any? :D

(not that I'm expecting anyone to know what-the-hell I'm talking about...)

I'm so tired to all 3-D/flashing/mysterious stuff , etc. So i thought this is best choice ;)

About "spinning-cube"? JS mean this one:

I PM'd him already Greedy, lol. I couldn't stand it anymore, even though I was sorta (hmmph, clearing throat) chuckling to myself. :)

LOL. I'll be there - and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised GG...although that "photo" was taken a couple of years ago now and there are one or two wrinkes appearing around the eyes now. But i still do that nervous winking thing which makes me look so endearing ;) My mother was beautiful as you can imagine...

Agreed. And i'm honoured JS :D

Totally agreed on Simmo's! It was months before I realised it is actually winking, and it's not just my eyes going crackers from all those spinning slots! :D

Probably time I went for a change, I'll have a think today!

When i realised that first time... i was quite drunk. So check that few times... after hangover ;)

The Weihnachtsman creeps you out? C'mon - I be jammin' to some funky reggae beat!!

Maybe I need to upload an animated gif so you can see my moves.

Or was I jammin' to Soundgarden - can't remember - it's a blur.

The eyes... It's the EYES...

I was wondering when you were going to say something (lol)! :D

Hahaha, no I'm cool with the "Weihnachtsman" (I'm guessing that this is the character in the green mask... don't wanna' keep putting my foot in my mouth). They can make a plush toy of it and the kids (that I don't have) can play with it for all I care. I was talking about the "Santameister"... or is it the "Claus-Meister" (seeing how you ARE in Germany and all). That creeps-me-out a bit Bryan. Those... eyes... :eek2:

Weihnachtsman = Christmasman :D

The eyes match the intensity of my reggae beat - or thrash metal - or whatever.

I love it. It's a really useful image, too. Printed it out as a poster to show the kids who's gonna come a-knockin' if they're not good!

Them kids been behavin' real nice lately...

Gosh Johnsteed,

It took you less than 2 hours to compile this! You are making us look like zombies. The only reason you have been able to do this must be that you have been cloned a dozen times and that there are 13 of you working on this.

Good work,though.

WHAT!!!

I was told specifically by Captain Needa AND General Veers that there were no remaining Stormtroopers on Planet: EARTH. Must I always reduce myself to having to play the bad-guy, having to choke these people just enough to get things done. :icon_evil Did they take a boat from Costa Rica to South Korea? Last I heard, those prices at this time of year are murder on the credit cards (George Lucas lent me his AMERICAN EXPRESS :D ).

I'm seriously ticked!

Hi Tim :) ,

Sorry about that. I was going off of an earlier thread where somebody had made that comment. Nothing was said about it afterwards, so I assumed that maybe she was your daughter. Maybe I'm confusing forum members here... hmmm.... :what:

Regardless, it was murder on the eyes. Glad it was changed to what it is now.

Nice one Mr.Steed! :notworthy

Just for you, as Crimbo is sadly over :(, I'll go back to Mr.C for you for a while...

For the benefit of anyone reading this post when these 'horrors' are long forgotten & have not the faintest what JohnSteed is on about... see below!

(John, you can close your eyes if they scare you too much... :D )

PS: The fat one is on the left....
