15th isn't too bad Cheekymonkey, better than me, lol.

I am looking at the current chip leader markbarr. There is a markbarr here, registered 2 hours before the tournament. Clyde1967 also at the final table, registered on 9 february, hankanator on the 10th, bkdixon on the 11th.

Have also spent the last hour reading posts (after being kicked out at 28th place) and can honestly say casinomeister have gained another fan of these forums - so much interesting stuff !!!
A freeroll is beneficial to members of casinomeister, but also beneficial for casinomeister to gain more members.
Finished 28th by the way.
GrandMaster said:There are 100 people registered. This seems quite a lot. Does anybody check that they are all genuine Casinomeister members?
This is just the first free roll of (hopefully) many. For upcoming competitions, we can organize these by perhaps for members with certain "reputation" points, etc. This shouldn't be a problem.Pinababy69 said:See, that just isn't right. It seems pretty obvious that the only reason they signed up at the forum here is to play in the freeroll. I agree with you Grandmaster.

Building up reputation takes time, and we could also give them negative reputation if there seems to be a problem.scrollock said:that a good idea, however it would only be a matter of time before the bonus whores organize themselves and engange in a mutual giving of thanks
Hey Pinababy, what did you think you were at Woodbine and there's a parimutuel clerk you can tell what you want to do? You're on your own at the poker table, amongst those sharks.

I think that the tournaments should only be open to members who joined before the tournament was announced, or possibly even a week or month earlier.
I noticed that there were about 20-30 no-shows for the tourney.
scrollock said:with the prize fund being much bigger than previous freerolls, this tourney was always going to be a target for those dirty filthy bonus whores, hopefully the meister knows who they are and kicks this kind of scum off this site.
hopefully 32red put up such a good fund as a sting operation to identify these people and are currently passing on their details amongst its MG friends.

Get a couple good books. It's really money well spent. And it's just a fascinating subject that you can never stop learning about.
There is a difference between a monthly match bonus available to everyone and tournament with a fixed prize pot. In the latter case it is indeed not in your interest to let more people know about it.paul1 said:lol I can't tell if this is tongue n cheek or what. Either way, it's still kind of funny. I've looked at the bonuswhores site. And in my opinion, the whole thing is self-defeating. As soon as a good deal comes along, they all post about it and JUMP ON IT. I think that is what happened with Bet365 a month ago. They offered a decent monthly, and probably got a GAZZILLION bonus whores. Then they started banning some of the players who "didn't play enough" and it caused a big stink.
I read some of the threads over there, and it is obvious that many of them are merely children, (under 25), and they are so obsessed with whining about bonuses, that they fail to understand that if they just tried half as hard to improve their skill in the game of poker, they'd be way better off.
But anyway, it's a force to be reconded with. If one of them posts about a good bonus offer, there's probably going to be a huge BLOCK of players jumping on it and they could just defeat themselves by doing so. As for myself, I like money like anyone else. But if I discovered a truly good deal, I think I'd keep it under my hat.

In a tournament with 100 players and $320 prize pot, the expected win, ignoring the differences in skill, is only $3.20. Even if you are a good poker player, I don't think your expectation would be more than 10 times that, $32.
Playing poker for 3 hours for a very uncertain expected win of $32 is not exactly lucrative, so I am a bit surprised that there was so much outside interest in it.
