Well I almost got everything I wanted from the round of 16, results-wise.

I only want one thing now. Brazil to NOT win the World Cup.

I am officially declaring my membership of the ABB club....or rather the ABN club (Anyone But Neymaaaaaarrrrggghhhh!!).

Please Felliani, take one for the team. Break Neymar's leg and give him an injury that even he couldn't fake.

Hate that play acting twat. Referees need to stamp out that bs.

I personally want to see a Uruguay v Belgium final with Uruguay winning it. Just double checking; that can't happen. :(

Uruguay v Croatia it is then :D

Edit: No idea how to embed those links

This one isn't as Messi as the first one I seen.

2 Girls no Cup.webp

Hasn't been a great WC when all's said and done, Germany's shitness aside all I've seen is unfancied teams put 11 players behind the ball and basically hoof -counter every game.

VAR has killed the spontaneity and flow of the spectacle, players are surrounding refs after every word said in anger and doing their best "Hey look guys, I can do a square!" impressions.

All the while, FIFA have let the lesser nations have their fun but ultimately giving Brazil a bye to the final, where they'll meet clearly inferior opposition. Perhaps to make up for their home-based horror show of four years ago :D

It's basically rigged, yes rigged

Platini admitted as much when saying matches are engineered as best as possible.

I do believe Edskullmurphy has actually been right this whole time. It stinks!:D

2 Games today

URUGUAY vs FRANCE
BRAZIL vs BELGIUM

France will win and the 2nd game i hope for Belgium.

They dont have TV at the Gym ?

Yeah they do.....but I think I'll take it easy with a few exercises today :D

And run home

I would disagree with your assessment of this World Cup and VAR.
Every World Cup has been hyped to the max by the media and as sports lovers we are only too keen to buy into it.It is age that slowly allows us to see things without rose tinted glasses.
VAR does seem to be having a mixed introduction as far as I see. Holding up the flow of the game is worth it,but only as long as it shows consistency. It has not done that for me so far because it has only highlighted bias when clear sendings off and decisions have not been given despite that access to replays to make decisions on.
England have been treat so far in the same way we have been treat in a few decades of Eurovision song contests

So, err, we agree then :p

Keep telling you to lay off the cider before midday. You never listen

My god. I drink once a week and never before the day has been long. I just think that this World Cup has been the same as it has ever been in my lifetime. Other than the first few that I watched between playing on the fields with mates between games

To be honest if it was a Belgium-England final which it won't be (it'll be Brazil V Croatia) then I wouldn't be disappointed if Belgium won it. They would have got there winning 6 games beforehand and playing football. England have played the draw.

I do not see it that way. Their first two games they where quite positive and the game against Belgium was never going to be a true reflection of our abilities. Against Columbia we where better in every department and that is why Columbia's frustrations where shown in their awful conduct.
3-0 against Sweden :D

France Belgium eh. Not only interesting for the obvious rivalry, but because Poirot will be in attendance!!

No but seriously....he won't be able to attend :(

It's kind of a unstoppable force meets immovable object scenario, but I expect France to see it out in Extra Time. And Belgium's 'Golden Generation' to miss out again....

As much as I want USSR to do well, for political points alone, Croatia deserve their spot in the sun. And if it means beating Sweden in the Semis, so be it :D

From a footballing perspective, Belgium have won already hands down. They're also a slightly less smug version of France :D

Want hosts to do well generally, but Croatia deserve some rewards for years of 'could have been'.

England will no doubt receive knighthoods for reaching the dizzy heights of the QFs. Sweden may go 'flat out' against England tomorrow, and I expect them to 'build' some momentum going into the latter stages :D

France or Belgium will make it ;)
Well how did you reach that conclusion Robby

One half of the draw consists of the Valley of Doom and the other half (England's) is made up of retirees, volunteers and YTS trainees :D

England won't have to keep their heads as much as they did against the "lets get them sent off" Columbians.

Although we always struggle against the Swedes, they are actually more likely to play football rather than cheat.

2-0 or maybe 2-1 to England :) (Sorry Sara :p )

Either way, PLEASE no penalties, heart just can't take that again

I suppose one of England's strengths this tournament has been their game- management.

Haven't seen them fall behind yet, the Belgium game doesn't count, and so have always been on the front foot for the majority of games.

The England I know would be leading and then concede two in ten minutes, and be chasing the game:D

Much as I don't like this team, it's hard to deny them a Semi-Final spot based on their resilience, and even harder not to get swept up in the euphoria :cheerleader:

Second half though is where it's at. Expect the Alamo in overdrive :eek2:

Wa-hey! I remember clearly the 1990 SF against Germany. Like this year we were in a long hot heatwave and I had just bought my first house. I stood out on the lawn trying to cool down and absorb the disappointment, the numbness at about 10:45 that 1st. July 1990. Work the next day was subdued, everybody. So near yet so far. I want any team except the French to win, anybody. If you want a mystery, like where's the gold 'D' on Bonanza, tell me how on earth the Machine Gun Midget has manged to accumulate 50 England caps. I'm baffled, he must have something on somebody.

I'm at a loss what MGM contributes really. Terrible composure in front of goal, can't pass and can't cross

I think his saving grace is how he pulls defenders wide and opens up the defensive line, for better players around him to exploit the gaps, that's about it

Well done England. Surprisingly comfortable.
They finally did what they so often fail to do in the really big games and got that second goal.
Kane didn't score, but he's still looking good for the Golden Boot.
More importantly, he's going to be the highest scoring player on Sun Dream Team :p

I'm just wondering (like Mr. D is) why Sterling continues to get minutes on the pitch.
Rashford has pace (if that's the excuse they are using for continuing to play MGM), but he actually knows how to score goals,
yet he has spent the tournament keeping the bench warm instead of playing.

Funny to think that in 2007, England failed to qualify for the Euros after they lost their final two games to.....Russia and Croatia.

Guess where that loss to Russia happened? In the Luzhniki, where England's semi final is being played.

Funny how things can sometimes come full circle.

Marcus Rashford=Super sub in case they need some fresh inspiration urgently.

Is that a poll of players from just today's game if so what is Rashford doing on their with less than 4 mins play in the game and Dier didn't play?
Southgate decided to stick with the same team as vs Columbia, for continuity if anything. Although Rashford should always play partnered with Kane, with Sterling as super- sub......

Dier's a 'closer', someone brought on to see the game out. Henderson's not as defensive- minded but is definitely more proactive.

I think that Rashford would have taken those chances that Sterling wasted. I love the fact that Pickford has had to really battle to make the grade after being farmed out on loan to various lowly teams on loan spells.

Anyhoo. for me its a sign of the times that I'm getting so excited about a potential semi! :(
