Why does Boss Media use a timer when playing?

I was just playing Black Jack at a Boss Media casino and I need a beer. Being a gambler, I thought I could click on the deal button, get a beer and come back before the timer ran out. I got back just in time to see that I had an 11 against a dealer 6 but not in time to hit the double button. I lost the hand.

Why do they use a timer? What is their big hurry, they are going to get our money eventually anyway. One of the reason people play on line is so they can relax in their home and play at their own pace. Here is an example. I enter the publishers clearing house sweepstakes. A week later I am playing at a Boss Media casino and I do a $1000 bet playing black jack and I get 2 8's against a dealer 6. The phone rings and the caller ID says Ed McMahon. So I split the 8's and get 2 11's....now I have to double but the timer is running down and the phone is on it's 3 ring. What do I do??? In my panic, I pull the mouse out of the wall, the timer runs out on both hands so I stand on the 2 11'x and the dealer gets a 17 and I lose 2K, I missed the call and Ed leaves a messages stating that I would have won if I would have answered the phone. I hate the BM timer!! :icon_evil

It's weird, isn't it? It makes sense if you're playing with other people, but it's there when you play on your own as well - by the way, you can make the timer take longer by altering the settings (and change the stakes on the BJ tables in case you've ever found yourself at a Boss Media casino and thought the minimum stake was $5).

Then there's a problem at some BM casinos whenever you double or split at BJ - the next hand you can't just click on rebet but have to manually replace the chips as the software seems to think you've changed your stake and now might want to bet a different amount. It gets worse when you're playing more than one hand and because of this the camera angle changes and you just end up playing one of your hands... You'd think an upgrade wouldn't be beyond them! :machinegu

I agree that the timer is stupid!

You can change the timer? How? Can you make it counts till the sun burns out?

Boss defaults the timer setting at 15 seconds.

However, you can only double that (to a max of 30 seconds) by changing it. If you go under the "Blackjack" menu, you'll see a "Settings" line.

Click on that and you can change betting amounts, seat at the table, whether music or sound effects play and the timer limit.

Still kinda ridiculous, I agree.

So the concensus is that the timer is stupid. But thank god they give you the option of 15 or 30 seconds. Anyway, me and my friend Oliver Warren just opened a new RTG casino, www.2secondbj.com No, it is not an adult website, it is a online casino, but think fast as you only have 2 seconds to hit, stand,,,,,,etc....but if you win, we pay just as fast in the tradtion of Crystal Meth Palace Casino.
