Why do some casinos not share how to become a VIP player?

Curious why do some casinos/reps hold back info on what it takes to become a VIP. Some casinos like Videoslots and Playojo show your level of play etc.
while many do not and when you ask what it takes to become a VIP in my experience most time I get a reply saying right now you do not qualify for VIP status but they refuse to share with you what it takes to become a VIP with there casino. Is it the amount I wager? is it the number of deposits in a given week? month? year? do I have to become a streamer and fake my excitement with my followers??????????

For me to play at a new casino I like to know what my rewards could be etc if becoming a VIP what it takes to become a VIP. What's the process etc.

I recently started to play Winz.io actually made a fair number of deposits and was amazed by their free spins and other promotions wager free. I personally do not feel I deserve VIP status as yet and I have not asked to become a VIP but I have asked the rep Feb 4th what is required to become a VIP and received a reply back that hell sends my request to VIP manager and I still haven't heard anything. Is this not something the rep can answer? Surely they must know what it takes to become a VIP if there the rep for the casino.

In my personal experience, Playojo has been the best for me with VIP treatment and the good thing with them is once you become A-Lister (VIP) you're for life but mind you 32Red was like that one time with their Cub Rouge and went back on their words.

If a casino can not share with me what it takes to become a VIP on their site then I think we should rethink should we play there or not.

From my knowledge of working in the industry, there is sometimes a set requirement for “VIP status = deposits over x amount over y months”. While others may look at various factors.

These various factors (what makes a good value VIP) varies from casino to casino. Unfortunately, some (less scrupulous casinos) may define a VIP by factors that overlap with the problem gambling signs that Responsible Gambling teams look for. Hence why they might not want to advertise their VIP qualifying criteria (due to regulatory and reputational risk) Even trustworthy casinos who don't use such factors still may not want to publish their qualifying criteria as it's not a black and white matter.

I feel an advertised VIP status is often disingenuous, especially when the casino has some sort of ranking or VIP level. If you've played for a couple of hundred a month over several years, you are not really the customer the casino expects to one day drop a few hundred thousands into your account, and you'd never be able to participate in a bet/win tournament with the 2-week old VIP who doubled your years of deposits since he registered.

Essentially it boils down to: a lowroller is never expected to grind his way to VIP status, and the VIP status means nothing unless your deposits are good.

A couple of linked casinos no names mentioned both gave me VIP status after a SOW check which I find rather dodgy as
it showed collaberation between the responsible gaming and promotion teams although its quite possible they are sat next to each other

deepsky2 . haha don’t feel bad . i signed up on winz.io jan 16 . deposited almost 100k . cashed out 80k . played over 200k . i am still not VIP there . i don’t really care that much . as long as they pay out fast and no BS. i have played over 10 years online . the most impressive is leovegas that’s like 5-6 years ago . they always credit back 15% my loss . usually if i lost 20k they credit me 3k back in my account. but i lost more money in leovegas than any other casino haha A3F779F1-EEE5-4B43-A0ED-06A8E0F2CDD2.png

I guess I better not hold my breath then. Your right in that they do pay fast etc. and to be honest for being a non VIP at Winz.io you get more and treated better than being a VIP at some other casinos.

Is it not a double edged sword? Hey, become a VIP but er, only cos you're losing?

I was a VIP (whatever that actually means) at Redbet but it came on the back of losing about xk in 3 months ish - so, you kinda think 'oh that's great' but when you look at your bank go 'ah, that's why'
I can assure you that casinos wants winners on as VIPs. Think of it this way, if you just withdrew 50k, as a casino I'd want those 50k back. And since I know for a fact that you're good for at least that amount, I'd push my offers to you rather than someone who dropped 50k in one day and then never returned.

Agree: Well, i think they want winners for a bit, certainly not long term obviously like you intimate. Short term winners are what they want cos they know, medium to long term, they're the winners.

If you check out the BBC Doc on Ladbrokes you hear the senior Ladbrokes Reps calling the VIP 'lambs/Mugs' (or something to that effect)

indeed . as long as they have full rtp setting / fast payout fast and not ask million documents. i am happy to play there . vip or not doesn’t matter to me . i play on coolbet/winz/betsson heavily . i probably deposited around 100k on coolbet as well . yesterday i received a $50 boston pizza gift card from coolbet as a vip . i appreciate it . make me feel good . but i don’t really care about $50 obviously.
as for winz be aware of their play and go games . they don’t have rtp number in their help file . i asked the live support they told me it’s 96% hign rtp setting. but not what i feel

The casino always wins long-term, so most casinos welcome "long-term winners" with open arms :)

I agree and think you hit the nail on the head.

Surprised nobody mentioned it before.

Casino VIP status is ambiguous because it's selective.

The system is set up to reward the biggest losers to keep them coming back. As if any casino would offer extra perks and spoil a consistent winner, to keep them coming back for more winnings.

Just my opinion :)

It would be the 'worst business acumen fail 101' to reward winners that run your business into the ground, wouldn't it? Unless it's some cunning plan to lull them into a false sense of security....

I mean it makes perfect sense to keep VIPs playing and sweetening the deal by appealing to their free- spending impulses, say, a gratis chip here and there, hookers and maybe some blow, as any good casino should 🙌

I suspect any VIP that rinses a casino out over the long- term will end up having their status reduced to VUP before you know it

Yes, they want winners of course they do, that's why they stall and frustrate big withdrawals and bonus ban players naming it bonus abuse.

No business is in it for the love. You would not want somebody chewing through your profits on a regular basis.

Hence, why VIP status is, usually, by invitation only.

Carrot on a stick springs to mind :)

What in interesting discussion and topic :)

Just wanted to add that winners and especially big winners are also very useful for casino reputation and good marketing news, which is sometimes more important and valuable than big loss from a VIP player :)

Some simply don't have it. That's all about marketing strategy :)
They probably don't want you to control your activity when you play for real money, so it more beneficial for them to give you some other bonuses to make you stay at their website

I agree, I've had the best customer service at Winz.io! I really really want to love this casino but I just don't win. And I can't seem to get past level 11. I've deposited and deposited but because i can't seem to win anything lately, it just sits in the 20-30%. Super disappointing

You could argue that they should look after the big winner to avoid this person not returning. The big winner has the cash to plough back and ultimately lose so I would look after this person until they spunked all of their winnings back.

Absolutely, the player will be enticed to return. The answer to the op's question is still because they will tailor offers to manage each whale closely.

We base our VIP status on deposits over x amount - you get a dedicated VIP manager after that point and personalised bonuses and cashback - Feel free to PM me

This approach makes sense: Dont allow players into a VIP program until you can see they can afford it.

There have been too many examples over the past few years where this wasnt done, a blind eye was turned and multil million pound fines were handed out by the GC. All the while several problem gamblers went through hell including prison time.

The GC expects operators to conduct such RG and affordability checks before becoming a VIP really.
