Why bother asking?

CM, I am wondering about something and kudos to you for taking on this forum for these many many years!

Why do people post for feedback on an issue and then disregard the advice they receive? I can only speak from my own experience and I do try to be tactful and respectful when giving advice about a situation. However, some posters seem to have already made up their mind before they ask for feedback from the forum. What's the point in asking if they ignore what they are told? Are they just hoping that their issues will somehow slide past the casino's security checks? Am I being disrespectful? Do I need to get a life? Why are the Americans doing so poorly at the Olympics? :eek2:

Hey peanuts,

Me thinks they ask because they want to validate what they have in their mind.

Hi Suzecat.

Thanks for the kudos. And I think gfkostas has it pretty much figured out, some people just want to validate what they have on their mind by seeing it in print. :D

Also, there are a number of players that will take their chances with roguish operations - thinking that I'll be able to bail them out if they have problems. It's pretty lame IMO. Some people either just won't listen, don't recognize casino warning signs, are greedy, or just plain stupid. It's really sad in a way.

But what the hell, it gives me something to do :D

Yeah, I agree with you guys. It's kind of like one of those "My boyfriend flirts with other girls and I find phone numbers from other women in his coat. Do you think he's cheating on me?" Then you analyze the situation, respond with the idea of confronting him and she does that and then he denies it all. They make up and everything is dandy until a few weeks later. Same 'ol sob story. Right? (and I didn't know about this forum before my big ordeal! :p )

It's more of a self esteem problem in my estimation. You always want to check out with the tribe if you don't trust what answers you get from inside.
