Damn it`s all dusty and cobwebby in here, I thought I would post here (in the hope of getting some serious cuddling attention

, rather than start another thread).
The last two-three weeks of my life - Firstly, my Father lost his battle for life, we bury him Thursday week, the second very close family member i`ve lost to that bastard disease this year, the other being my beloved, angelic 4 year old grandson Mackenzie.........
My daughter Dan (Danielle) truly is an inspiration, how the hell she is coping with this so well is beyond me, here`s to you and Jay princess for keeping it together after an Earth shattering experience.
A few weeks ago I bought a 2nd hand laptop for £250, a Toshiba Satellite E-Series chip with windows 7, 4 gig of RAM, etc, etc, I was using it one night when the cursor started to behave weird, going in the opposite direction to where it should have gone, a few seconds later some weird icons appeared on my desktop, I right clicked on one as to delete it, then it multiplied, so I tried to drag one into the recycling bin and every icon on my desktop was linked together, I rebooted and it looked like the screen resolution was 60 x 60 pixels and 2 colours, no icons had names under them, and when I clicked start there was nothing there, then poof, blue screen of death, I tried to restart but nothing, I couldn`t even get into BIOS, I gave it to a good friend of mine to look at and he said basically everything was fried, and it would far outweigh it`s worth to replace everything, how the hell can a virus or whatever do this?, I know if write to BIOS is enabled they can change settings like increasing the voltage etcetera, but meh, it`s f*&%£d now.
Then my fridge freezer broke, and washing machine.
So, I turned P.C. on and was greeted by this... Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM, so I logged onto the recovery console and tried to repair the windows installation, after several possible remedies including a very long drawn out affair of copying the registry etcetera and using system restore, which failed abysmally, I conceded defeat and had to format and reinstall windows, in doing so losing around 4 years worth of stuff.
Today, I turned P.C. on, no internet, I rang MY ISP up and after the normal mandatory possible remedies it was assessed that the wifi part of the modem was fubared, but, I was reassured that whilst waiting till my new modem turned up (Friday) I could use an Ethernet connection, tried, didn`t work, tried using my mobile, both the wifi and tethering failed, so, trying to keep my patience I turned on the old laptop I had restored, np`s whatsoever in connecting via wifi, so I thought I would use the laptop`s USB wifi adapter on my P.C. installed drivers, still no connection. trawled the net on the laptop forever looking for answers, gave up, reinstalled windows once again, now it`s working.
I`m no IT boffin, far from it, but in all my years of having a P.C. there has never been a virus I didn`t beat or a software/hardware problem I couldn`t solve, in the past few weeks i`ve been steam-rolled three times

.
I need a cuddle please
