What's to stop an unlicensed casino operating?

Leading on from the news that Maxent LTD have had their UKGC license revoked, can they actually be prevented from operating and taking bets from UK players?

I appreciate that holding a UK license is like a gold standard for casinos (although it doesn't prevent some shocking operations from holding one tbh), but does it matter anyway? If SlottyVegas were to simply continue operating "business as usual" can they be closed down/prevented and/or the owners taken to some kind of court for operating without the correct license?

Note - I closed my SlottyVegas account ages ago, once I heard the rumours about dodgy ownership. I'm not asking if it'd be safe to continue playing there.

The law, pure and simple. They would then lose any other licences they have and be completely screwed if they went ahead with that.

The Gambling Act, enshrined in UK law, gives the UKGC full oversight and regulation of the sector. The UKGC require a licence to operate or supply services to UK players.

Has there ever been any action by the U.K. for casinos who operate without a licence (in the U.K)?

It's a criminal offence as of 2014 amendments to the Gambling Act. So any commercial entity trying to do so is in fact operating out with the law and face criminal prosecution. In terms of actions, I'm not sure. Sure someone on here will know.

Slottyvegas has an UKGC licence? They even have mga?

If operating from within the EU they would be subject to criminal or legal proceedings as these are cross-border, which is why for example MGA casinos with no UKGC license always block UK players. The UKGC could also instruct payment providers not to facilitate payments from UK residents, but for some reason doesn't get involved in this sure fire way of preventing unlicensed sites taking UK money. That said, Neteller I believe block UK payments to casinos without a license.

If the shithole casino is operating from Eastern Europe (non-EU) or Curacao or Costa Rica etc. there's bugger-all the authorities can do.

I'm sure there was something about banks not having the facility in place to be able to identify and block these transactions. Our banking system doesn't give a fuck about this, although would like to see the UKGC pushing it a bit more in political circles.
