As a result of the new UKGC rules around VIP Programs what will be the future of these programs and what impact will it have on operatos and customers.

Some high level points on the new rules

1. Before a customer enters a VIP program enhanced due diligence needs to be carried out to decide if a customer can afford to be part of the program.
2. Customers cannot be incentivised with bonuses that entice longer sessions or bigger bets
3. Operators cannot offer bonsues based on losses
4. Ongoing monitoring and affordability checks to be carried out on players.

Questions
1. Will players send in payslips/bank statements to allow for affordability checks to be done?
2. How does an operator decide what a player can afford to deposit/lose?
3. Will less incentives mean players will just stop playing with regulated brands and migrate to the black market?
4. What is the measurement of success for this?

I think the online industry is on its way down! Who is online casino to tell me what I can afford for my online slot sessions. Same as that sow bullshit just another way to delay withdrawels! If you want to do a sow Check you do that when a player wants to deposit and not when the withdrawel is there.

Will this mean that cashback will be stopped for us in the mighty U.K. now then?..

it’s not per se vip, just a little bit back for our deposits.

In a way I’d love this to happen just to fist the streamers in a way not seen since a Barrymore party, but for honest regular folks it’s gutting as getting a little bit Back after losing was always nice.

It's a load of bunkum.

What next? Going into a shop and having to provide a bank statement to show you can afford your smoking habit or going out to an expensive restaurant and having to provide a wage slip?

Madness. The industry is dying on its arse and will continue to do so for as long as regulators keep pushing such demands.

Personally, I'm a big believer in personal choice and accountability rather than nannyism.

Things did need to change but it’s getting frankly absurd now. Can count on one hand the casinos and brands I’ll play at because of all this piffle.

and it will only get worse for the genuine player, also the decent affiliates and those within the industry.

Such an option isn't good for casino business as it will simply turn a lot of potential customers away.
The main goal for many of them is quick customer registration such as username → email address → password → confirm password (the rest can be entered afterwards).
If the customer enters and confirms this basic info, it means he/she is nearly behind the casino doorstep.

Agree it isn't fair that online casinos are telling us what we can or cannot bet. The main issue is that the UKGC is forcing them to do this in order to ensure responsible gambling is in place.

If operators choose not to follow these rules the UKGC will simply fine the company or suspend the licence.

What's casinos do you think manage the UKGC rules well? The new rules don't come into play until the end of the month so I think we start to see a lot of changes from November 1st.

I think we can all agree that some regulation of the industry is good for the customer but it's a tightrope and too much can be detrimental.

I mean, soon it'll come to a point where casinos simply just don't tow the line for the UKGC license and will effectively be out of the regulator's reach anyway. So it's in both the UKGC's and player's interests for the UKGC to moderate the direction they are headed in.

William hill, ladbrokes, sky.
Also maltese based the L&L group.

All the Above had massive payouts and made huge deposits over the years, going back over 10 years without a issue at all.

it’s also not about how I see the rules managed, I don’t care.

As long as I’m paid and can deposit my interest ends there.

Agree, the UKGC need to find a balance at allowing people have the entertainment aspect but also making sure operators have responsible gambling practices at the forefront. At the moment the fun is slowly being taking out of it and it is becoming more and more like a financial institution with all the document checks and limits being put in place.

Thankfully I am located between Ireland and the UK so I keep most of my accounts on my Irish address and not under the remit of the UKGC.

Can’t remember where but thought I read something about a lot of casinos cutting their VIP programmes by 70 or so %?

I think if I could afford to roll that high I wouldn’t be overtly fussed where I played as long as they paid me, so you may find some just simply stay where they are (though there maybe many who like the perks and will consider shifting if the progs disappear)

Maybe they’ll find new and innovative ways around it, maybe some casinos will simply avoid the hassle by cutting the programme altogether; time will tell.

Also possible some of the high rollers are or have been SOWd already etc so they’ll have the info to allow them to continue with VIP perks as it is, I don’t know.
