i am thinking about close my account with a casino . but i still have some money there . it seems take them forever to process the withdraw. if i close my account there . will they still have to pay me the balance ? if they don’t . or they said they did send me the money but i never get it ? what should i do ?

Personally you should never close your accounts at casinos. This can come back to hurt you further down the line. Depending on the wording you used when closing the account. The agent you speak to when you close it via Live Chat or if you have to email the casino support requesting it, might deem your words as a gambling problem reason which will mean they close it based on gambling problems which will hurt you further down the line.

Some casinos do this out of spite if a customer is not being very polite with their support agents etc etc and they will just do it on purpose. I would suggest that you should just wait for them to process your withdrawal or if keep contacting them and asking them how much longer will it take? Otherwise if they still are not paying you then submit a PAB on this forum here: Submit Your Online Casino Complaint and make sure to read the PAB rules and do not post about the case until it has been sorted anywhere on CM.

What is the casino that will not pay you? and how long have you been waiting?

@dingmj , if this relates to the PAB you have submitted then I can say with 100% certainty that you SHOULD NOT mess with your account until all outstanding money matters are resolved. Once you have your balance in your pocket then you will be safe to proceed with closing your account, if that's what you feel is necessary (but @DreamRJ has offered you some good insights on that). If it's playing your money that concerns you then @Nate has made a good suggestion above.

I've tweaked the thread title a bit for clarity, apologies for any inconvenience caused.

You should be allowed to make simple account closures (to start the process of the deleting of your data, though some will be held for x years) but oddly some casinos insist this is something that isn't possible and, oddly as i found, will try and force you down the route of Self-Exclusion

Agree with Dream in that there have been a few i've simply left open to rot away on their own accord as they took that stance and, as they were part of a group and i played at others in that group, i wasn't convinced they would do it properly (ie they would put down as a Self Exclusion when you type in bold, NOT SE reasons etc)

Even some that have the 'a/c closure' button on the site, once you click it only give you the options for SE/TAB

Yeah I forgot to mention about the groups, Cos if you do close an account in a casino in a group and you open or play at others in the same group even if you closed your account for a reason that is not for gambling problems or not it can still come back to hurt you. So yeah it is best to just keep all your accounts open.

Only time I close some is under extreme circumstances. Like for example LeoVegas. Although I think they only have a few sister casinos. I do not play at either of them. So because they went totally downhill I completely closed my account with them.
(but I also now check what group a casino is part of by doing some simple google searches before I decide if I will close an account or not first too, just to make sure.)

But then on the other hand that can still come back to hurt you too for example. If one casino group decides to buy another casino group. So then that can lead to issues with all accounts you hold and closed before the new group taken over and merged their databases etc etc. So yeah you have to be extremely careful!

thank you all for your reply . it’s the SOW . i am canadian. i have account on maybe 10 different online casino . never been asked for Sow before . and i don’t feel comfortable to give out more of my personal information . but i still have around 20k balance in my account. i am thinking if they don’t let me withdraw am i allowed just close my account and they will send me my balance ? i had some issues with 2 big casinos recently.

Ah, so you're wondering if closing your account is a way to force them to send you your money WITHOUT completing the SOW, yes?
In my experience the answer would be "no", account closure will not trigger a payment to clear your account. If that were the case every fraudster on the planet would use closure as a payment technique and the casinos would go broke in a week.

Accordingly with EU's 4th directive, we need to establish the origin of the funds you use to play

they didn’t ask me provide any documents yet . just a simple forum

It depends.

IF you are in a country that has good licensing rules and IF the casino you play at is licensed there then it's likely that they can't just take your money.

If they are licensed by some crappy jurisdiction -- or not licensed at all -- then the chances are they can do whatever they want and there is no one to tell them otherwise.

This is where the PAB process helps: you give us the details, we'll usually know the best approach to take from there. We've been in the business for 20+ years and have handled many 1000s of player issues, chances are we can help you too.

Yes eventually they still have to pay you even if you do not complete the SoW in that casino. It just takes a few months. It would still be faster if you just done the SoW and sent them the docs they needed. That way you would get your money much faster. I know SoW can be very intrusive and not everyone can do it or likes to send the docs they need, but it is now part of the laws and we can not change it. So we all have no choice but to either comply or expect huge waiting times for getting paid!

Also to note - I still do not agree when a casino does not pay out your money until you complete an SoW. Casinos should not be allowed to do this for SoW but they do. It sucks totally. Good Luck though what ever you decide to do.

thank you for your reply . it’s not that i can’t provide . i am a business person . i don’t feel comfortable to send my private information like sow to online casino . it’s a simple entertaining for me . i will choose to stop playing if an online casino insist or play on the online casino regulated by my local government. their games are so limited but at least no SOw bs

I'm assuming you are talking about a casino from a proper licensing jurisdiction, yes? Because if that's not the case then I'm afraid I can't see how your statement can be true.

Maybe I'm missing something here but in my experience casinos in crappy jurisdictions, or no jurisdiction at all, will use the SOW scam to do exactly that, confiscate player's money.

I stick by what I've been saying, it all depends what license rules the casino has to obey. If good licensing is not part of the equation then it defaults to the casino operator themselves: if they're good then there should be no problem -- and no SOW in the first place BTW -- but if they aren't good then the player can end up in a world of pain.

Yes I was referring to good licensed casinos in good jurisdictions.

The @OP has still not even said the name of the casino it is either. I would still like to know which casino it is? @dingmj - Please can you tell us what casino it is?
