was wondering if ike had hurt anyone else at the gas pumps today? i had to search for a gas station that did have gas for sale and when i did it was the high grade stuff 4.69 a gallon, put in 50.00 and it didnt even put it on full:eek: and the prices are climbing as we speak also alot of stations are running out fast.........................laurie

Low-grade gas is anywhere from $3.45 to $3.75 around here in Virginia Beach VA. Gas on the commodity markets took a big dive today so it should be cheaper the next couple of days.

Was $3.39 a gallon last Thursday when I filled up. Just passed the same station a few moments ago and it was $3.69 so up $.30 in 4 days here in the High Desert of New Mexico. :eek2:

i pay 3.58 to 3.78 here in florida but im sure after the market how it went today it will shoot up again. it was over 4.00 dollars a gal for regular then it went down, now up again.

pevangel

$3.56 for regular on Thurs. -- by Friday 6 a.m. it was $3.99. And that's where it's stayed so far -- that's if you can even find regular. A lot of stations are out or have dwindling supply.

Here where I live, gas was $1.34 a litre Friday past, and today it went up to $1.45.
Time to attach a wagon to my doggie and use that for transportation :p

I was brought up to New Hampshire over the weekend. Friday night gas was 3.49 a gal.. Saturday morning same gas station 3.73!! :what:over night!
But in Mass. it was 3.51

Today when my son drove me back up to the dr. in NH. When we left Ma. gas was 3.53 a gal. Got to NH and it the price was back down to 3.59 up there  and when we returned to MA it was up to 3.63 here!!

So as of tonight NH is 3.51 and Ma is 3.63 (but that will change in the next hour)

Am in East Texas where Ike came to dance after he waltzed through Galveston and Houston. Gas went from $3.49 to $3.79 in less than 24 hrs. I live on a big lake about 30 miles from the nearest big town so as you can imagine, gas consumption is limited to a few cars/trucks and boats. I know this gas station is still selling the same gas that was $3.49 to $3.79. What a rip off!!

Gas remains scarce, pricey

Fuel remains scarce and pricey across Middle Tennessee.

Prices spiked early Friday and by afternoon, some stations were completely out of fuel.

Many experts blame Hurricane Ike, which made landfall along the Texas coast early Saturday.

According to Mike Williams, Executive Director for the Tennessee Petroleum Council, almost all gas stations in Tennessee are owned by independent contractors who price their product the way they see fit.

He said prices differ for many reasons including the different contracts that various independent gas stations have with their suppliers.

Gas stations affiliated with major brands, like Exxon or Shell, get priority over non-affiliated stations.

Unaffiliated stations have to pay the "spot" price, which is higher thus reflected in their per-gallon price.

Williams said currently there is no product coming into Tennessee because almost all of the gas comes from one pipeline that originates in the Gulf of Mexico.

The gas starts in Houston, then goes to Atlanta, to Chattanooga and then to Nashville.

Hurricane Gustav first shut down refineries a few weeks ago and production was again disrupted by Ike.

Williams said the price per gallon increase is a direct reflection of supply and demand.

When supply drops and demand increases, prices go up.

Prices spiked Friday because so many people decided to fill up.

Tennessee had plenty of gas to get through the weekend but ran low because citizens got scared, began hording gas, topping off and filling tanks.

Supply couldn't keep up with the demand.

When asked if the media is to blame, Williams said no but any time there is a rumor, whether on the internet or through the media, it often becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, which was seen across Middle Tennessee over the weekend.

Governor Bredesen is urging Tennesseans to be "conscientious in their use of gasoline."

"If you need gas, buy it, but if you don't need to refuel now, there's no reason to rush to the gas station to fill up. If you can wait to refuel, it's best to wait until supplies are replenished," he said.

Forecasters predict Mid-State drivers could be paying $4 or $5 per gallon of gas for the next few weeks.

MTSU economist Dr. Bill Ford said until oil refineries in the Houston area get back online, drivers shouldn't expect to see any relief at the pump

The national average for a gallon of regular gas Monday morning was $3.84. In Nashville it was $4.05, up from $3.91 Sunday.

The Daily's in north Nashville was selling regular gas for $4.09 a gallon while the Thornton's in Hermitage was selling regular for $4.19 per gallon.

In Antioch, a gallon of regular gas cost as high as $4.29 at one Phillips 66 station.

As of Monday morning Tennessee's division of consumer affairs reported more than 500 complaints about gasoline price gouging.

Consumers can report suspected price gouging at www.tn.gov/consumer or by calling 615-741-4737 or 1-800-342-8385. Consumers need to provide the name of the gas station, address, the price and grade of gas.

Geesh..........you folks are spoiled! Here in the Mojave Desert, central California, our regular is $4.68 and premium is $5.77.............:eek2:

edit..............oops, reg dropped to $4.51

Bunch o' cry babies.

We have VW minivan - (Touran) which runs on diesel.

Diesel prices this week: 1.4 Euros per liter = $2 per liter. Approx 4 liters = 1 gallon.

$8 a gallon - and that's cheap since prices have actually dropped about 10 cents a liter in the past six weeks.

And diesel is cheaper than regular gas here - regular is around $8.50 - $9 a gallon.

With the land space equivalent to Washington state and Oregon combined - and 1/4 the population of the entire US, I'd think we have more than two roads. In fact, it's much more densely populated than you can probably imagine. ;)

You'd better hurry. There's talk about setting speed limits on the Autobahn due to the energy problem :(

Gas down further on the overnight markets today. You should see lower prices in your areas today or tomorrow compared to yesterday.

We just had a increase over the weekend to 1.36 liter. 5.44 gallon. Diesel price here is 1.18 liter at least last time i looked.

We are paying avg 3.99 - But really bugs me is there is no public transportaion at all where I live in Port St lucie Florida. So even if I never used it would be nice to know the community was doing something to help..

Wish I had of seen this yesterday...put gas in the car yesterday at $1.45 litre and today it went down to $1.36 :eek2:

RobWin...thanks buddy :)
I'm terrible with math so it would of been hellish to try and figure that out :p

$3.65 here, but that's up .20 from about 4 days ago

I guess we're lucky here in the Philly burbs..

I have a friend in northern Indiana where it was over $4 the other day, up 70c in ONE DAY. The funny thing is, every gas station in town had the same price. If I were the mayor, heads would roll. Can we say price fixing?
