Everytime I get one of Virtual's promotional emails I opt out to get off their email list. I must of hit the link to opt out at least 10 times over the last couple of months but the emails keep coming. I just got the latest one tonight which I reported as spam and blocked them from sending me anymore emails. Why bother having an opt out link if it doesn't do squat?

I Am Really Pissed Off

While I was categorized as "Skilled Player" by them, they have been keeping
sending me promotional e-mail OFFERING ME 425% bonus while the
"skilled player" can only receive up to 30% ACCORDING TO VIRTUALDEAD (oops )

NOW WHY DO I BOTHER TO REPLY THIS E-MAIL IN ORDER NOT TO RECEIVE
SUCH E-MAIL ANYMORE??

WHAT IS MORE,. AFTER HAVING READ VIRTUALF**K'S SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
HYPCRITIC REPLIES HERE,I AM REALLY PISSED OFF THAT THEY ARE DOING THE SAME BUSINESS AS USUAL.

Most of the time these opt-out features in spam email are just a way for the sender to verify that the email address is still active so they know to keep sending crap to that address. I don't even bother with the opt-out, I just block the address from my email server. I have had to block email addresses from 90% of the RTG's that I played at because they just kept sending them even though I closed my accounts stating that I no longer want to play with RTG software. I can't pinpoint which casino was responsible but the address I use only for casino signups has been flooded with thousands of spam and junk advertising emails. I know it is one or many of the RTG's because that was the only casinos I played at during the time the spam started. They must be selling the email addresses to squeeze out even more profits. I now play at Microgaming only and used my regular email address to register at over 60 casinos and have not received one junk email. MG casinos also honor the opt-out features in their promotional emails.

In fairness to a very select few (2) rtg joints, breakaway and sci-fi, rarely send me any spam. Once or twice a month.....maybe. But I did contact their cs and request I not be eligable for ANY bonus EVER.....so maybe that helps too.

no doubt at some point you will start getting hit with spam from cirrus and cool cat (the other arms of virtual), then you will get the dannycom emails aswell, then you will have various fake forums and watchdog sites that virtual have set up. be very wary of these as the staff from virtual actively post on these, often pretending to customers who have had a big wins.

the most common trick they will use, is to send you a bonus offer from one of the various portals they have set up, when you check the portal and the forum on it, you will find that the bonus offer you have been sent is at the top of the forum page and there will be about 10 people who have made a killing off the same offer you have been sent, this is to lure you in!

however if you were to post on such a said forum, that you have been ripped off by virtual, you would soon find your post deleted and blocked from posting further on the forum, so the forum and portal would be ready for the next victim to fall their way.

it is quite an elaborate and clever scam

I think this is something they tried out a few years ago, but I'm not sure this is what they are doing now. If so, post the URLs for these "forums" and "watchdog sites" and I'll check them out. Thanks.

Trkwak,
I apologize if you are still getting promotional offers from us. Please send me your e-mail address so I can check why you were not removed from our mailings. We normally are able to remove players with in 24 hours of the player opting out. What does happen sometimes is if a player has opened additional accounts, it is the other accounts that the mailings are going to and not the one that you original opened.
Remember this is not spam, we have upwords of 20 different promotions going out every week, so that is why you are getting many different e-mails.
Please any other players who want there accounts changed to no longer receive any e-mail from us please just send me your e-mail address and I will have all mailings stopped. Also please let me know if you had opted out previsouly, so I can see why that link is not automatically removing your address.

Ted,

These are all coming from the same email address and it has your name on it. I only have one account at Virtual so I'm not sure what your implying.

I'm not concerned bonuses that take you to forums to lure people in or fake watchdog sites since I would not deposit a dime with virtual.
