UK Players Input Needed

The UK All Party Parliamentary Group recently released their report into how a new Gambling act would be restructured. The report suggested a raft of changes including a removal or all advertising and marketing, £2 maximum bets on slots, the removal of in-play betting, removal of VIP incentivisation and improved measures for KYC procedures and recognising vulnerable gamblers.

One of the criticisms levelled at the response is that players don't have a voice. The APPG consulted various groups including vulnerable gamblers while putting their report together but there is no collective voice for gamblers as a whole.

The idea of this survey is to collect some anonymous statistics from players that can be used to demonstrate player opinions on the effectiveness of the report's suggestions and/or to to highlight whether the potential side effects could also benefit the grey market, an area that was dismissed in the report as unlikely to have an effect.

The survey is anonymous and for UK gamblers only. The results will be widely shared and will be published here once complete.

Done the survey, just hope they take note of our views but doubtful, can hope

UK online gaming is going to be one miserable experience by the time they have done with it.

£2 stake limit wouldnt bother me but is going to do untold damage to the industry as a whole.

Does not seem fair to target VIP players, the casinos should be free to reward loyal players but should
not use VIP membership to entice players to overspend.

Do agree with central ID and SOW checks, such a pain having to go through the mill everytime
you sign up with a new casino

Silly banning ads, casinos dont actually advertise games any more just how much they care about you, and showing you all the wonderful tools they have to help you stay in control, advertising does more to put
you off than make you play.

Done but hesitated before completing the final question.

Its nice being given the chance of feedback but i would have liked a less biased survey - a chance to offer a comment or some more varied questions.

The first few questions ask about your spend then the next about the restrictions and that's it. Too specific to get real feedback.

Only a few real questions there amongst all 33. Poor survey in my humble opinion.

What's with the 3 words rubbish? Should have kept it simple.

I put the highest possible likelys for the SSO part. Think its genuinely the best solution.

I've just done the survey but it's a pile of shit as far as I'm concerned - it just steers you down a specific path and doesn't allow you to express your individual thoughts and opinions. It's like it's been designed to coax a set of answers that suit an agenda and can be presented to achieve that objective. I agree with @bamberfishcake above

How about a box where you can give proper insight, suggestions and ideas?

The central area for registering and setting limits, SOW etc is a very good idea but once I've gone past all of that I should be free to spend my money however I like. If I fancy punting some low-variance slot at £5 or £10 a shot, I should be able to.

I'd like to see a survey at a later date that has more of a focus-group vibe about it.

Aye, The £2 limit is what gets me - it's very low. I wouldn't play regularly at that level, but if I've got a decent balance I like to have a few silly spins. I've spun £10 and immediately got GOLD on Bonanza and withdrawn a grand from a £10 deposit. Most of that session was at 0.20-0.60 until I had a £150 win at a low stake. One big silly spin and if it hadn't paid I'd have reverted to the lower levels. I'm an adult, that's my choice.

When you look at Lotto - £2 a ticket, and FAR less chance of any payout (even your stake back), it's nuts.

And yep, it's going to be a licence to print money for the Curacao operators. And I suspect that heavier regulation in the UK will push the big game designers into a decision as to whether they become more willing to supply their games to unregulated markets. Helping nobody other than the government, who'll get some nice headlines in the Daily Mail to distract from the ongoing crapshoot of the current parliament.

Seems a pointless survey that could cause more harm than good.

As it is anonymous you could have all the people against gambling completing it many times stating how much harm is being done and instead of this showing gamblers against the changes it could lead to the survey showing most people want gambling strictly controlled and all the changes to be applied.

Think if there were any reputable offshore casinos, they will make a fortune from a mass exodus of UK players,Must admit I have looked around but the casinos I have seen dont look very proffesional or have the variety of providers that we have in the uk.There are any awful lot of new casinos springing up but "brand
new" doesnt really inspire me.Would have to have a reallly good record and been long established before
I would risk my cash.
Shame we are being reduced to this , it just overkill big time and will do very little to stop problem gamblers.

I've looked very hard, over and over, and can't find any. There are a few tiny Rival/RTG casinos with very limited (and poor imo) slots, which do pay out, but take 7 days to process and max £500/day. Also can't accept VISA any more for some reason!

Anything that has any decent providers' games is either pirated, a confidence trick, or both. The usual Vega World Solutions / Alpha Interactive frauds that simply don't pay out.

I've said it before, there is a massive untapped market for a "good guy" offshore casino! I very much doubt that one will ever come to pass, though.

Many curaco casinos around but have to pretty desparate to go down that route,as you say the market
is wide open and begging for a good offshore casino.Knowing the UKGC they would ban payment providers
from processing deposits to anywhere not UK licensed.
Not seriously thinking of going offshore at the moment , just about got enough UK accounts that have accepted my SOW docs, but its really going to get shitter, its just going to more and more regs.
If they do end up with a central system for id checks and SOW clearance I can see every player having
to resubmit the info they have already submitted to casinos, It would be pack up time then.

Have you looked at the bitcoin market? Do you know if they fall under same regs or any good guys amongst? I know nothing of them but it maybe an option i wish to explore if things go this way.

Same regs. The legit bitcoin-only offshore casinos appear to have all taken a decision to exclude UK players. Can't even get as far as the home page with most, just get a "geolocation blocked" message.

They probably get loads of great replies to their survey :) They could also have made it bit differently and collect some valuable feedback instead of random anonymous "tick the box" ones, but they probably don't listen too much feedback anyway so no harm done.

I used to do these surveys by the dozen, back when I mistakenly believed that completing them would be a pathway to riches.

Little did I know that I had to complete circa 12,000 of the ****s to amass a £10 Paypal voucher. Which funnily enough I spent on gambling.

Would be bully if the UKGC rewarded this Mickey Mouse survey's participants with a likewise gesture, then the chickens would have really come home to roost.

Alas, I'm stuck with a dreary 'survey' that's more style over substance, and doesn't help either party. Feel relieved at falling into the 35-44 bracket whilst I still can, as the 45-54 one is giving me loving stares.

Was somewhat stumped at #6, when they threw a curveball my way with 'How would you describe your gender?", but ultimately relieved when they didn't require an actual description. So out went the "Mostly male with a sprinkling of Papa Smurf/ Rocky Balboa"

As for the remaining questions, banning advertizing shouldn't do too much for those versed in gambling as it's already 'embedded', newcomers or potential recruits may benefit from not being overloaded with these ads however. Because as we know, gambling ads are pretty much commonplace now.

Removing VIP perks achieves.......precisely nothing, and the removal of ALL bonuses, free spins & signup perks will only be counter-productive, as punters will find themselves gambling more (due to shortened, bankroll-halved, unfulfilling sessions) and spending more to compensate for said lack of playable funds. So good job there UKGC.

Like the idea of a universal platform where Deposit Limits are set across all casinos (thieves stole that off me. W***ers) but aghast at the inclusion of a universal credit check. It may make gambling safer, but with that goes all spontaneity, which doesn't always have to be detrimental. Some may just fancy a £10 flutter but now find the Sterility Crew have put that idea to bed.

Yet overall it wasn't the worst survey I'd ever done, though I'm not sure what they'll glean from it. Still, at least they're attempting to take some proactive stance on gambling addiction, even if flawed. And for that I can't really fault them

they should stop casinos do this, players can still deposit and suspend withdraw to you verified

I believe at the current pace of change, the UKGC will abolish these types of practices. As we know by and large they kind of suck but have recently demonstrated a desire to correct a few things, as evidenced by Reverse Withdrawals and so forth.

I think their intentions are good, it'll just take a number of years to weed out these filthy casino tricks in an industry that mutates around laws to gain the upper hand. Not forgetting these casinos have embedded these shenanigans for many, many years.

It's like trying to untie the world's tightest knot :eek2:

This happened to me last week. Been playing somewhere for 2 weeks, made first withdrawal and all of a sudden they needed "to verify my identity" and said they would cancel the withdrawal after 5 days if docs hadn't been received. A full 7 mins they cancelled it and couldn't withdraw again until all this crap was complete. Not only against the rules, but devious bullshit. Deposit as much as you want but your not getting anything back. Scandalous and blatant...has to be against consumer law.

Aye. At least now casinos seem to ask for everything at once, as long as it's a simple check.

Gone are the days of the Cozygames sites asking for each item of ID individually, taking a few days to check each one in the process.

(Also gone are the days of Cozygames sites giving you £1.00 cash every day just to log in. I was heavily in profit as a result of that.)

Casumo loves to make difficult to verified to UK players but they let you play for year without Verification deposit withdraw no problem for 1 year, then one day when you ask for 4 digit cash out they block you withdraw to you full verified and send 100 doc include proof of income and selfie,if you ask to close account they will not pay you anything,I personal think Casumo Casino use a law gap to scam UK players, now other casinos so is working for Casumo casino for so long Rizk casino Kaboo Casino start doing same think,I am sure lot of UK players complying casumo casino holding withdraws and UKGC doing nothing about it,is more important for UKGC to block players in UK deposit before they full verified and stop Casinos scamming by asking 100 doc to get verified,is easy to get mortgage from bank that get verified on Casumo casino
