UK Mp's are coming after online casinos

How about reducing scratchards and all sports bets to £2 max , throw blackjack and roulette in the mix too. Perhaps we should restrict all bets on the stock market to £2 and perhaps bets on the fluctuations on gold and other commodities too. How about not being able to lose more than £2 in a hand of poker or restrict poker tournaments to a maximum buy in of £2? Where will this madness end ? If people want to gamble they will, even underground if necesary. The current rules regarding SOW are more than sufficient . There are plenty of tools out there to give problem gamblers the opportunity to restrict or exclude themselves if they need that help. Politicians think they understand the market but they do not and neither do they understand how a gamblers mind works.

End of the day, will it affect me? Not really

£2 seems like a reasonable-enough cap, given how the majority of normal punters wouldn't likely go beyond that anyway. I once reeled off £2.80 bets for a duration and near enough shit the bed

Please someone explain why £2 bets wouldn't be sufficient or in line with RG? Sorry if this puts a lot of of Hollywood streamers' noses out of joint, but their 'bets' are an affront to Responsible Gambling and hardly likely to be affordable by the average viewer.

God knows how many players have got unrealistic expectations from seeing upward of £20 bets being reeled off with gay abandon, because, you know, it doesn't matter because that great bonus is just around the corner :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Fact is, £2 caps won't be the be-all and end-all either. Have they not seen how fast some bets can be reeled off on certain games by certain providers *cough* Pragmatic *cough* BTG etc

So ultimately this impending stake-nerfing will only truly work if coupled with the unthinkable: spin delays of however many seconds, a la Sweden. I know I know but hey that's the truth. Otherwise it's a load of virtue-signalling political rhetoric used to garner cheap approval, by Ian Duncan Smith & co, and say 'half responsible Gambling'. Do it properly and thought-out or don't bloody do it at all.

But then he's a douche politician so what did anyone expect

MP's and UKGC should be looking back to the arcades and bookies, where they will find "Premium Play" introduced from the day the stake was limited to £2.

"Premium Play" is simply a mechanism where you have to play 10-25 spins on some fast-spinning mini reels that have a 0% RTP. Then you get to play the game itself, effectively at the same high stakes available before the ban. If that isn't taking the complete piss out of the legislation I don't know what is.

I'm going to write to this group. Simple solutions here.

1. Mandatory deposit limits on sign up which can only be lowered and not increased in a 12 month period.
2. Trigger point of deposits where the casino have to ask for SOW or additional info.
3. Ban reverse withdrawal facility
4. Cap the max stake at £5 and for anyone wishing to go over that they need to specially request from the casino and provide backup to prove they can afford it. Casino looks at the risk and imposes a bespoke cap.

This means that casinos will interact with players a lot more in these matters and hopefully prevent harm.

That will boost unregulated gambling massively! Think ahead MPs !

Might as well just shut the industry down completely at this rate, and we can all find a new hobby. Carpfishingmeister, anyone?

Of course, all the record breaking catches will only be landed by streamers, who will be live from lakes around the country, with affiliate links for tackle... eh, I'll stop now.
I’m already a member of the salmon fishing forum and the that’s as bad as gambling expensive as fuck and little reward 99% of the time..

Just as a side note as any regulation in the UK wouldn't affect me.

I reviewed recently four slots from Playtech's new jackpot series called Kingdoms Rise. Gotta admit they are for once pretty good and intense games with three connected jackpots. Two things stood out:

- Token collection: The four games are interconnected and you collect tokens as you play (3% RTP is reserved for the tokens). Once you have sufficient, you can exchange them for bonus features on any of the four slots.
- Bet size: Admittedly these are just the demo links, but the maximum on the fourth called Reign of Ice is 2,000 credits!! That in my view is just atrocious. ... Some or maybe most casinos might offer it with something lower but I am pretty sure some will offer the standard setting.

A slight slap on the wrist for the developers wouldn't hurt when I see things like these.

However did we know developers would go down the 'collect enough tokens for the bonus-buy' route, and that Playtech would be the pioneers in this brave new world!

Companies will in time find all manner of loopholes to dumbfound our unwitting MPs and the UKGC, that will take another three years to clean up.

Maybe have 'tokens' that can be purchased upon depositing with real money, said tokens are redeemed in-game to trigger bonuses (thus being 'legal' and NOT unethical), wins from subsequent bonuses are paid back out in 'tokens', which are then redeemable for cash when withdrawing!!!

Then the industry would have gone full-circle and be as bent as the video games industry

100% this. Mandatory deposit limits would also help and no option to select "no limit"

In Sweden that's mandatory, not sure how well all operators are cooperating with this, at least some have had problems or lost their license due not interacting with players who setting "too high" limits etc.... Don't get that amount straight from my memory right now but players who add limit over some amount should be contacted etc...

There really would need to be then some maximum limit which would be kind of "affordable" for most of people to spend (not much help if i would add £50k monthly deposit limit) and then raise it with SOW verifications (like one at least some are doing at UK already by adding £300 as default limit). Would make it maybe to net loss limit that when you win you would be able to wagering back your winnings and that you just can't lose more than your monthly limit but any of these or would be good start.

That would only affect streamers from UK, not following scene at all so no idea how big streaming thing is in UK or how many are doing it from somewhere else (if that rule comes in place, could see some bigger full time ones who are making some dosh from it, to moving somewhere else for while to continue).

Bottom line, the way things are looking :(

"RANT ALERT"

Slowly the UK is becoming a communist state. Makes my blood boil all this over-regulation and prohibition!!

I rarely play slots at even £1 a spin, but if I want to spunk £100 in 10 spins because I feel like it and want the thrill of hitting a mega win, then why shouldnt I be allowed to.

What next, ban holidays over £500, ban weekly shops of over £75, ban buying cars over £5000, because a few people get into debt by living beyond their means!!

The UK is becoming a namby pamby place to live, Im starting to really hate it!!

You start to get near to Scandinavia :) How you think that you would know what you want to do and what is good for you, it's all ready decided for you and life is easy after that and no need to think or be responsible about any own actions :)

Sorry I dont believe the figure of 430,000 problem gamblers.
Who counted them, since bookies are closing and waning interest in horse racing , bingo halls
almost wiped out, are they saying its all down to online gaming,I cant see it with the operators crapping themselves having massive
fines hanging over them if they dont adhere to SOW and KYC regulations.
Wouldnt be suprized if the level of gambling in the country is the lowest its been for decades.

Slight side step, but when I go to play playtechs 'great blue' at ladbrokes the stake is fixed at 25p, you can't change it. I figured someone must've won a large sum on it and bookmaker insisted the stake was fixed. It never used to be. [online this is, haven't stepped foot in an actual betting office for years]

(Good ) put them all on a banana boat and ship the lot hook line and sinker to Malta were they can share a studio with Rosth....

Knew this was coming soon, and you can only order one pint of beer per day, your shopping basket will only be allowed a max of 200 calories per day, you will be limited to 1 wank a day as well, anything else they can come up with?.

Presume scratchcards will be reduced to £2 max to keep things in line
