So i've got a e mail from them today stating you've won the raffle , the head of the e mail clearly states you've won the raffle,im taking the meaning of this is i got first place in it & per header that has come my way. ( i haven't opened the e mail as per yet )

So it got me thinking before i open this e mail , it clearly does not say you're a winner in the raffle or you've won a prize in the raffle , clear heading states you've won the raffle, anyone else had this today ? or is it misleading & false on their part ? ?

I've been struggling with their software over last few weeks & haven't been playing due to the problems loading slow spins etc etc.

Just thought i would ask the Forum to see how other members see this/read this as i know this could be very misleading indeed

Any thoughts please ? ?

i shall do ) im just a sceptic on the way of online headers to be honest , my immediate thought was it could be very misleading , clearly im not stating that as such it is i could be wrong wouldn't be the first time , but i was just asking to how people would see this or read it )

Well, yes, but you're asking if we read the title as misleading based on the contents of the email without knowing the contents of the email in order to fairly judge the title

As a header it's very misleading.

But once you open it, you'll probably find, like I did, that it's made VERY clear that you've won 10 free spins.

I've noticed that English is a second language for a lot of casinos, so that's maybe the problem, rather than deliberately trying to mislead

If it's the case above that you've merely won a few spins...it's ambiguous, but not exactly misleading, if the raflle has more than one prize. Technically winning a raffle, be it 2nd-100th place is technically true, though most would assume they've gotten the main prize and could be better worded. 'You've won' might be more apt if it's a secondary, tertiary prize etc.

If someone was to say to an athlete 'you have won the race' it would mean they came first, not second or third.

it's unambiguous.

saying you won IN the race, would be ambiguous

Hi yep , it's clearly displayed on header that you won the Raffle ( header states Thrills, you won the raffle.******** , the winners of the raffle have been................

Clearly that is my point i shouldn't even need to open the e mail to collect first prize of which it is ( not sure on that one what the prize is ) either way looks like this could be very misleading to others players as well not just me.

I'm not suggesting that i did not place first either , im just going by what i have e mailed on front of e mail from thrills .

Badly written false or misleading headers should be a no go in this day & age .

Anyway i shall update the thread when i've opened the mail )

yer i get this , the point to me asking was , as header says , Thrills. you won the raffle. this means you have won the raffle.

Also im not sure if any of the forum reps might have a view on this from other casinos ? point of view & all that ?

If the lottery phoned you and started the conversation with "you've won the lottery". You'd be well-pissed off to find that you'd only won $10

I could argue it's not misleading, but it would be rather long going into definite and indefinite articles and coming down to semantics.
Sure the casino could have written 'you've placed in the raffle' but ulitmately, it's areally a non-issue as you simply open the email and discover the contents.

It isn't really. It does follow the rules of grammar without being unnecessarily verbose or pedantic. And of course, let's be honest, as this thread proves, the header generated more interest than writing 'you didn't place first but there's some small consolation' - marketing does come into play to.

I've agreed it could be worded better. But really, one just has to open the email - painless really - to see what they've won.

Well as already pointed out , again the wording that i had indeed won the raffle , clearly needs addressing & they should be adding £2000 to my account along with all the other players ) , no e mail in any competition whether that be raffle or race should start with you've won the raffle or race , this in english terms means first place.

bahhhhhh i give up Thrills hopefully the rep shall chime in here when they get chance )

If it makes you feel any better, all I've won today is an all-expense paid trip to the front door and back several times over to let the dog out so he can come right back in

i have yes your correct that there is a prize ten free spins , but are incorrect against the header , which is the point to the thread , clearly defined as you've won the raffle , this is neither are a winner in the raffle , you've been placed in the raffle or anything like that , clarity shows if you've won the raffle it's defined as first place. because you've won it.

Ok, but there isn't much to say if you don't tell me what raffle it was. What was the prizes for the first place...was it a first place?

Or was it maybe as I suspect some ...participate in this or do that and we will award you some spins?

first prize £2000 second prize second £1000 third £750 & so fourth down from there , if the header stated you won a prize in the raffle ,( no problem )

Then I agree, it's very misleading and whoever wrote it should be spanked
