Yes he is insane but he is not stupid. Those who are crazy and very smart at the same time are the most dangerous. His 1500-page book I linked gives very precise details of his motives and it also contains a diary how he planned the attack for 82 days.

He also implies in the book that the car bomb in Oslo centre was meant as a distraction so that he could focus on his main target (killing as many people as possible on the island).

There is a very strong political motive with his killing and unfortunately there are a lot of similar minded people in Norway, Sweden and Finland who see immigration from Islamic countries as a threat to their country and to Europe. In fact some people on these forums already symphatize with him and some even consider him their hero now.

According to media, this guy had no formal education. He has at one point completed the compulsory military service (about 1 year for all males in Norway), but he has not been a part of the military other than this. He expresses himself as a knight templar in the video. I watched the video and it was a crusade against islam. As I said, it really showed the mind of an insane person based on hate.

The media is reporting today that he was out of ammunition when the police arrived the island. This may explain why he did not resist arrest.

I would think that those news reports may be incorrect. But yes, he did have an agricultural company registered in his name. He used this company when he bought "ingredients" to make the bombs. The Norwegian media is reporting that he recently bought 6000 kilo of fertilizer, to be used in the bombs.

He has recently lived in the same apartment as his mother (with the intention to save money). He writes in his manifest that he used "all of his money" on the planning/preparations for this attack. He also rented the farm where he made these bombs.

He is described as a "loner", using most of his time in front of the computer (right wing forums etc...), so I am sure that this guy/his company did not employ 700 people

And I forgot, Norwegian media is also writing that he used 10 different credit cards in order to have the opportunity to buy these things. He apparently registered the company only with the intention to buy fertilizer without arousing suspicion.

And he may have gotten funding from international right wing organizations, so this incident may have much more far-reaching consequences and all this could be just a beginning in a sequence of even more gruesome events. I understand what you're saying, but I have a VERY hard time seeing anything these people do or say, as "political views". I fully respect different political views, as long as they don't include killing people for having different skin color, different religion, or living in a way, that you don't happen to agree with. Saturday July 9 - Day 69:


Later that day while I was enjoying a meal, the neighbour stopped by. As I had just completed the mixing session I still had AL stains in my face and powder in my hair. I tried the best I could to quickly wash it off but my hair still had a silver tone and it looked very weird. The neighbour asked if he could fertilize my fields and remove some rocks as this would increase the yield of animal fodder by 100% (the current crop). As this meant that he would get several people to work on my property for a week's time I declined telling him that I had plans of my own.

Later that day, while I was watching an episode of True Blood, I saw a large van driving by the house and parking next to my car. There was at least 4 people inside. Nice, I thought; it's probably a SWAT team coming to skull-fuck me. The farmer must have tipped them off... Thank God, it was only 4 Polacks looking for worked and I sent them on their way. It would have been tempting to hire them to mix my ANALFO...<3, hadn't it been for the fact that they would have understood what was up

I would like to share some info about the landscape/area surrounding the island. As I said, this is really a quiet and peaceful region.

The Island- Utoya is a very small island. It is located in the lake "Tyrifjorden" (red dot on map). The island is owned by the Norwegian Labour Party (the leading party in Norway). It is mostly used to host the annual youth camp (summer camp). Tyrifjorden is rather large, it takes about 1,5hour to drive around the whole lake. You can also see Oslo on the map. The distance Utoya - Oslo takes about 1 hour .






The area around Tyrifjorden is mostly dominated by agriculture, forests, cabins etc. This picture shows Tyrifjorden on the left, some farms and houses. It also shows a local camping site that lies about 3 minutes from where I live. This surroundings are quite typical for the whole lake. Utoya is located further up the lake from where this picture is taken. (Tyrifjorden is a lake, but we often refers to it as a "fjord")

One thing that is annoying me here in Australia is that I have heard very little about the attacks in Norway due to Amy Winehouse dying! Our media has become Americanised and is obsessed with celebrity! We get headline stories every time Britney Spears goes to the toilet or Paris Hilton has a new 'Boyfriend'(Using that term extremely loosely!).
I have seen and heard numerous stories about Amy Winehouse in the last 2 days and very little about Norway! Sad!

Recently, I've been reading a book about Auschwitz (yeah, great bedtime reading, I know), and it's a sad thing about people - how people with certain ideologies can become so focused that their morality becomes totally twisted. I've been reading interviews with some of the SS guards - what they did to the Jewish women and children they had no problem with it. They felt that they didn't do anything wrong. And the Germans were considered civilized people. This is something that is so difficult to understand.

Yes, that is correct Mattsgame. He claims there are cells ready to attack again. Police are investigating these statements, but there are no indications yet that this actually is true.

I was watching a live press conference with is lawyer on CNN now. Here are some information from that press conference (from CNN.COM and BBC.CO.UK):


- Norwegian massacre suspect Anders Behring Breivik says two terror cells helped him carry out the bombing and shooting rampage and that there are other cells abroad, his attorney, Geir Lippestad, said Tuesday.


- Breivik also used some kind of drugs before the attacks on Friday that left 76 people dead, his attorney said. The drugs were designed to keep him strong and awake, Lippestad said.


- Breivik is "very tired" because of the circumstances he is in, Lippestad said. His client considers himself to be "in a war," he said. It is "very difficult" to describe Breivik's manner -- "he is not like anyone."


The lawyer says his client is probably insane. However he added it was too early to say Mr Breivik would plead insanity.

-On Monday up to 250,000 people poured on to the streets of the capital, many of them raising up flowers in memory of the eight people killed in the Oslo blast and the 68 who died at a youth camp on Utoeya.

-Earlier, Breivik's father said his son should have killed himself instead of allegedly going on the killing spree.

-Later on Tuesday, police are due to formally release the names of the victims.

-According to the Norwegian newspaper VG, which cited unidentified sources, Breivik told investigators during interviews that he belonged to a revived Knights Templar. He described the organization as an armed Christian order, fighting to rid the West of Islamic suppression, the newspaper said.

Oslo is now surrounded by flowers. People walk around with flowers, and flowers are placed everywhere by the crowd.

How one demented individual, with support from other misguided individuals, committed so much hurt in such a short period of time baffles me.

I hope all the families and friends manage to cope. I'm not sure I could if it was my kid, and her friends, and my neighbours' kids.

Most were so young, their whole lives in front of them.

I don't cry for the dead, God will look after them. I hope their families find strength to go on.
