Strategy, Hints and Tips for Playing Bingo
Here are a few hints and tips to help you when you're playing bingo.

Anyone can be a bingo player and everyone can be good at it. Bingo is a universal game that can be played by people of all ages. Even though it is a gambling game, it is considered to be in the category of "soft gaming".

Hints and Tips for Playing Bingo Online

There is no real strategy for playing bingo online, as it's simply a matter of luck. However, before you start playing for money it's always a good idea to familiarize yourself with how a particular online bingo game works, and what the payout structure is by playing a few free games of bingo first.

Most reputable online casinos and bingo sites will allow you to play either for free or for money.

Money management is also an important part of playing online bingo. Set yourself a limit and stick to it - and never bet more than you can afford to lose. Although bingo is a low-stake game, keep an eye on how much money you are spending, and don't be tempted to play "just one more game" once you have reached your limit.

It's important to remember that the main reason for playing online bingo should be for fun, not for profit - that way you won't be disappointed if you don't win every time.

Hints and Tips for Playing Live Bingo in a Bingo Hall

Playing live bingo in bingo halls is more complicated than playing online bingo, and although it is still mostly down to luck there are a few things you need to remember if you want to maximize your chances of winning.

In live bingo it is important to act quickly. If you are too slow, you might miss out on a called number and therefore a win. Given that an average bingo game in the UK takes between four and four and a half minute to complete, and that the average speed of British bingo caller is 23 numbers per minute, you need to be able to find the numbers as quickly as possible before the next number is being called.

It is therefore a good idea to spend time getting familiar with the cards and the way in which they are numbered, i.e. the first column contains the numbers from 1 to 10, and the second column contains the numbers from 11 to 20 and so on. By doing this, you will be able to locate the numbers being announced by the caller much faster and therefore make sure you have marked off all the right numbers.

It's also important to understand the terminology used in live bingo games. If you know them you don't have to spend time finding out what on earth is going on while playing bingo and you can therefore concentrate on the game and your numbers instead.

Never play more cards than you can watch or you'll end up going crazy when trying to keep up with all the announced numbers.

Sometimes it's a good idea to bring sticky tape - yes, you read it right - because some games are played on single strips bought separately it's therefore easier to keep track of them if they are taped together instead of flying around in the table while you mark off called numbers.

Make sure you highlight a mistake on your card when you know you've made it. It's a disappointing feeling finding out you shouted "Bingo!", only to find out you forgot about the mistake you made earlier.

I know many who would disagree with the "matter of luck" philosophy. Me being one. With respect to your opinion, I have seen way too much to believe that online sites have much to do with luck.

There is "newbie syndrome" for one. Are newbies "lucky" or is it programmed into the software to let them win in order to get them hooked? Is it "luck" that can make one player who maxes cards win every 3rd or 4th game whereas another player using the same strategy not win one single game in $100 cash plus whatever bonus the site gives?

Land bingo may be more of a "luck" game. IMO online bingo has very little if anything to do with luck. These games are run on software. Someone tells the software what to do, whether it be the developer or the back end management of a site.

Has it anything to do with "luck" when a players account is closed for reasons only the site seems to know? Is it "luck" when a players wins a jackpot just to be told that the game wasn't supposed to play? Is it "luck" when they request a withdrawal after several times of depositing to be told that they cannot have what they won because they are a "management risk" or that they have the most popular excuse "duplicate accounts"? And is it "luck" when those accounts are closed many times with deposits AND winnings still in them?

Online bingo used to be fun until I started looking at all the ways the sites have to keep from paying out wins to SOME players. Not all sites are like this and you hear very little about them.

Your advise to pace yourself is great advice T. Wish I could have been stronger in that area. And looking at it as entertainment, even though it IS gambling will most certainly let you down easier if you don't win. Also good advice!!

Merry Christmas all and the happiest of New Year's!!!

Nah, it's called researching the site(s) you're going to play at, so you don't get stuck in the situations you outlined above...

Sure, there's plenty of bad apples out there, but then again, there's plenty of good sites that won't try to screw you.

Excellent post! Research really is the key. There are some bad sites out there, but there ARE some good sites out there too. Unfortunately there are a few that try to discredit the good sites by playing amateur sleuths and looking for problems before gathering their facts. I think they run out of headline making material kind of like the cable news channels do, so they go looking for problems and spin some of their suspicions into fact. Reputable bingo forums like this one are a good way to stay informed!

And then there are some who spend time trying to do something good for the players benefit who hates it when someone cannot or will not speak what is on their mind. No sense beating around the bush is there?

I make mistakes, I am far from perfect, but anytime a player has a complaint I feel it best to check everywhere I can check to get to the bottom of it. And there actually have been times when I have been right!! Glory be.. wonders never cease!

It is common knowlege about my trust for online bingo sites. I don't have any. But that does not mean there are not some out there that are more up and up with their players than others. Sassy I just happened to speak badly of your favorite one and you have a problem with me and my way of doing things.

Let's keep this about helping players if we can, that is the reason T started this thread. If you have something personal to say to me, please just pm me and get it out of your system. This crap doesn't belong on Brian's forum. And "blind punches" don't do anyone any good.

Bingo, whether

at a land site or an online site is never just 'entertainment' when money is at stake. If you want 'entertainment', play only at the FREE sites.

If you treat and look at bingo as a business instead, you may be disappointed with your winnings, but you will at least be approaching it realistically. That means you HAVE to read, read, read....and read again at each site you go to. There are clues about the site most times that will tell you if you already have an account with their group...and MOST bingo sites are part of a group of a few or a group of many.

To avoid multiple account syndrome (the most common excuse given for a site to take your deposits easily, but never pay out should you win), look at the home page for familiar group names, then read the terms of use and pay attention to the Contact information found within the site or in the Help/Contact/Support links. Often you will find that although you are playing at XYZ.com for the games, the contact links will be going to BBB.com instead. THOSE are the clues because the actual contact email addresses point to the main group that owns the site you are thinking about playing at.

Keep a paper list near at hand so you can start listing which bingo sites go with which group so if you come across a free offer for signup, you stop and search the site for more information first to make sure it isn't already part of a group you are already signed up with, and you will most times be able to avoid a multiple account situation. Some sites have software in place to prevent you from using the same username if it's already being used at one of their 'sister' sites; some won't catch that until you actually fill out the full information profile; some won't give a rat's azz if you have multiple accounts and will let you do the deed, deposit forever, but when you go to finally cashout a big win, will throw the 'multiple accounts' GOTCHA in your face, close your account, and accuse you of cheating THEM.

Read the terms of use carefully to know how your deposit, bonus bucks, and chat bonus bucks (bb's) can be used at the site. Some sites will stop you cold from being able to use those bb's to play casino games; some will let you spend them all playing slots or whatever, but will never let you cash out if you won using them. Also, pay attention to the obscene playthrough rules they list. Most sites require you to spend 3 times your deposit, plus your deposit bonus, if you are playing bingo ONLY before you can ask for a cashout (and they will take away any left over bonus bucks still in your account even though they are making you pay for them)....BUT only ONE spin of the slot games tosses you into a required playthrough now of 12X that deposit, plus your deposit bonus, before you can request a cashout, even if you only spun once and went back to playing bingo.

If you can live with that garbage, more power to you and your bank account. Otherwise, keep on trucking through the online sites until you find a better site to play at that has NO playthrough rules, such as BingoMania.com There are a few others that have no playthrough rules, but they aren't easy to find, since online bingo has, over the years, become such a huge cash-cow for unscrupulous site owners/management. They talk a great game with lots of promos to suck you into the site, but never part with a dime if they can help it.....and software manipulation is easy to accomplish because there is so little, if any, regulatory methods in place to protect the player. They get away with it because they CAN.

Understanding Bingo Odds
Calculating odds in bingo is theoretically very simple -- it's the number of cards you're playing divided by the total number of cards in play. So if 100 cards are in play, and you have 4 cards, your chances of winning are 4 in 100, or 4 percent. The trick is being able to count how many cards are in play in a game. You can do a head count and multiply that number by what you think is the average number of cards per person, but this can be easier said than done.

However, these odds don't apply to progressive jackpot games. Remember that in most progressive games, a winner is not guaranteed. So, the odds of winning a progressive jackpot depend more on the difficulty of covering the pattern in the predetermined number of calls. The odds are so steep in some progressive games that it may be weeks or even months before somebody wins.

Which Numbers Come Up Most Often?

Everyone wants to know: "What's the secret to knowing which balls will come up most often?" The answer is simple. No single ball has a greater chance of appearing in a game than any other ball, provided that the balls are manufactured correctly, that no one is tampering with the balls, and that the blower machine is loaded with a complete set of 75 balls.

Think about it. If you flip a coin three times, it may come up heads twice and tails once. For that extremely small slice of time, it's true that heads is coming up more often. But if you flipped that coin for three hours straight, the laws of probability say that the number of heads and tails counted would be almost identical.

Now, let's suppose that, in a two-hour bingo session, N-31 comes up four times while N-42 is never called. It would appear that everybody who wants to win should collect cards that contain N-31. Hold your horses! Over the course of a dozen sessions, or two dozen sessions, there's not going to be much difference at all between the number of times N-31 is called versus the number of times N-42 is called. It's just a coincidence that one was called more than the other for that short period of time.

I tried out the sun & daily record freebies the other day. I lasted quite a while untill i decided to lose it all on the fruit machines.

Just wondering what the payout % of the bingo is,

ie 100 people play for a $1

What would the prze pool be?

Odds regarding the number of times a ball

comes up aren't relevant regarding online bingo sites since they supposedly use randomly generated (although that can also be manipulated at the site because it's software that they have the ability to alter...and if you think they don't, think again)

However, at a land bingo hall, the drum that expels and tosses the balls around will have balls that consistently come up more frequently than others because the balls after time become dented and lose the ability to bounce around via the air inside the machine. The balls have to be changed often in order to eliminate that problem....and most halls will do that during an intermission by replacing all of the balls in the machine with a different set of balls. If they are a reputable and honest site, they throw away the dented balls as they find them and replace them with new so often they have five or six complete sets of balls to do that with.

I like to share it with the Bingo Player.

Bingo Tips and Tricks

There is very little you can do to influence or predict the outcome at Bingo. Bingo is a game of luck and is played primarily for fun. However, below are some useful tips submitted by visitors.
Bingo tips

Never play more cards than you can watch, be careful of "play all you want for $" you`ll end up going nuts trying to watch all your cards!!!

Never bang while you are dabbing, dabbers work better if you dab lightly. If you bang hard chances are your dabber will leak. - Submitted by avid player.

Paper cards with lower card numbers (free space #) tend to have the numbers closer together card #1 (B-1, 2, 3, 4 & 5; I-16, 17, 18, 19 & 20). Longer games like Coveralls tend to draw numbers in sperts close together. 16 17 then 19 and 20 come out. To win more coveralls, try to come in early and get the first set of paper cards issued. On big nights managers stock the counter with plenty cards usually the ones on top are the lowest free space number cards.

Be curtious to those around you. Do not yell out loud the number you need!

Burning the number (on paper cards) does not mean that it will come out the next time.

Buy a card for a neighbor once a night. You never know when you will want one more game when your wallet says it`s time to go!

Share the wealth when you win. Toss out a lucky dollar to those around you when you win. If they win a larger jackpot, they could return the lucky dollar (ten fold)! Especially if they win with your lucky dollar!

If you want to win at bingo. Play bingo on nights that are generally slower for the operators (Monday - Thursday usually less players than weekends). Being a game of chance if there are fewer players then there are fewer cards in play. If you have as many cards as you can comfortably play and there are fewer cards in play, due to lower crowds, then you have a larger percent of cards in play. Odds in your favor?! Especially if the hall you play at offers electronic bingo (computer bingo) and you have 2 or 3 cards per game.

Don`t continually gripe to your partner about your lousy numbers. It really gets on your neighbour`s nerves.

Don`t forget to bring tape. Some special games are played on single strips purchased separately, and it`s easier to dab them if they`re taped together. Hint #2 - tape on the back, not the front.

Other Bingo Gambling Tips

Whatever your gambling activity, below are the three best gambling tips for the general punter or bettor.

You can call them what you want but stick to them and you will probably be a winner, stay a winner and enjoy gambling for a long time to come with no pain and no regrets.

1st tip: Gamble money you can afford to lose. If you need the money, don`t gamble.

2nd tip: Gamble half of what you are willing to risk. This way, if you don`t win, you will give yourself a second chance, another day.

3rd tip: Don`t be greedy; if you lose what you have just won, you are.

Tips for the methodical gambler

If you bet methodically or want to devise your own betting system, then these are the three best gambling tips:

1st tip: Employ this `one-way` winning strategy: Start with minimal bets. When winning, intensify the betting progressively as you win risking only a calculated portion of your wins. Put NO limit to winnings as long as profit is progressing.

2nd tip: Set your target profit levels backwards. It is easier to fulfill a target level backwards (as profit recedes) than forward. The danger of forward profit targeting is that you can get close to it, never quite make it, and then lose the lot. Backward profit level targeting is more suitable on low risk/win ratio betting systems; that is, you risk a little to win a lot but you win fewer times. Therefore when devising your system you should aim to win more money with fewer bets and in fewer winning rounds, hands or cues. Positive progression betting is one way to achieve that. This is usually a more efficient way to bet and gives you more flexibility in managing your winnings.

3rd tip: Approach gambling realistically. You cannot force a winning outcome and don`t expect to win every time. Decide on a plan that lets you play in sessions or intervals, closing each session once certain criteria are met, and don`t aim to win each one of them. Remember, what matters is the overall net profit result.

I always feel dishonest and like im cheating when I do this, but whenever I've played online bingo, its been at about 3am, only about 30 people in the room, and i've bought 10 worth of tickets. Everyone else has been buying maybe 10 tickets max each meaning the total prize pool was only about 15 - 20 each time. But everytime I've played like this I've won...

Not big money but its the only way i've found of winning at online bingo..

oo also, i've found that with some sites, once i've cashed out, left the site for a couple of months, they give me some kind of bonus so I come back. Quite useful when using the method above... But as I said, doesnt feel quite right to play the game in this way.
