I suddenly feel so small and insignificant. ;)

Seriously though, this is absolutely mindboggling, the more you zoom in the more there is to see. If you zoom in on the dark areas and wait for it to refresh you'll see there are tons of stars even where it looks completely black. This is so frigging awesome!

Cool! But why are there little boxes around parts of the galaxy? Are those community gardens for aliens? ;)

Those little boxes are proposed soylent green facilities I think. :p

Seriously though, isn't it cool? I found it because I was watching a video about the Ultra Deep Field, which is even more mind boggling.

In case you have never heard of it, it started when they aimed the Hubble at a completely dark part of the sky, and after 10 days they processed the information and found over 3000 GALAXIES. And then later they did it in a dark area near Orion and found over 10000 galaxies. Our little milky way galaxy is only one of over 100 BILLION other galaxies in the universe.

"We pointed the most powerful telescope ever built by human beings at absolutely nothing, for no other reason than because we were curious...and discovered that we occupy a very tiny place in the heavens."

Feel yourself shrinking?
