Can anyone have a look at a play log for a slots that I played recently. I feel that all is not ok, also taking into consideration that there is also a bonus feature on the machine which I did not hit in over 500 spins.

Any advice would be appreciated including 'that's normal you numpty!'

I have the full play log, the summary is

Total Games: 557
Total Bets: $834.00
Average Bet: $1.49

24 wins

20 for the minimum of $3

2 for $37.50

2 for $75

50 'Safes' for bonus only 43 reached in 557 spins

I won't name the casino until I know more about how this session looks

This session was part of a slots only WR

Cheers

Also when I asked for the play log I received a 'special management bonus' of $40? :what:

Which will give you an idea of where your results fall on the bell curve.

Good luck...

Hi Darcus

In my experience, 5 reel bonus slots are notoriously streaky and like multi-hand VP, high variance wth the bonus feature providing a large slug of the Expected Return.

I write down my session stats and keep a record and what you have there has happened several times to me (albeit on another slot). But conversely, i have a good amount of high-hits over the course of the sessions.

You'll always get a higher house-edge on slots and the key is to stop at the right point. Its much harder to win on slots than on VP or Blackjack, not least because one spin will probably produce all the winnings. And most people don't like to quit when they are 20% up - they want more - hence why it goes back in faster. But with slots, you have to set your cash-out target lower to stand a chance IMHO. If you start at $100 and get to $120 after say 10 spins, walk away would be my advice.

Cheers

I was aware of the nature of slots to begin with and I was using a $200 100% match bonus. This was only a single line slot with a cumulative bonus feature. I just feel that 4 wins over the minimum in over 500 spins is a little bit suspect.

I'll run the figures through the links provided.

Thanks all

When you consider that slots MUST be negative-expectation games (lest why would the casinos offer them?), which is further exacerbated by the presence of large jackpots which are unproportional to the coin-in necessary to win them, then is there any wonder that their original name was "the one-armed bandit"?

I tend to play slots with only "excess" winnings (ie my bj winnings in excess of a session goal).

The calculators don't do slots by the look of it. My maths is useless, but looking at is simplistically, I got 24 wins in 557 spins which works out about 5 wins per 100 spins with less than one of those spins per 100 being more than the minimum.

So does that sound like just an average bad run?

The only thing I don't understand is why you carried on playing the stupid thing for so long!
Mind you, who am I to talk - I played Skull Duggery last night for about 380 spins, losing $70+, before finally getting the feature & winning a few lousy bucks.

Please tell me the name of the slot you were playing so I can avoid it like the plague.
Thanks.

lol, KK is a glutton for slots punishment. I find that when I do well on slots, I'm usually doing poorly on VP and viceversa. So if you can't get anywhere on the slots KK, try VP for a while.

I've tried a bit of VP - but find it rather boring & frustrating. Probably because I don't know the best way to play it, and I've never had any decent wins from it.

I confess I didn't tell the WHOLE Skull Duggery story - because while I was chasing the elusive, and ultimately crap feature, I got my $70 back when this little gem dropped in!

I am doing a little experiment and would like to know...
Are you new to this casino or have you not played in a LONG time, if so did you win big in the beginning and then lose totally or rarely win?
I am on my 3rd casino with my little experiment and would love it if someone will go to Blackjack Ballroom if you have never been there or have not played in a while. I had not played there in over a year and won like crazy off of $20...after winning around $1300 it has dropped to $200 and no matter what game, how much I spend, or what day I go, i cant seem to win a single thing over around $40 again. I just did over 600 spins in Spring Break and got the bonus 3 times TOTAL. I was betting mostly $2.25 and never got more than $20 on THE BONUS SPINS. Lost $400. This is the 3rd casino like I said in my experiment and its going exactly like I expected...you make your first few deposits, win like crazy and then never win much again. So I am curious to hear others experinces as well.
Thanks

My slots advice is "Don't". The house edge on slots is typically 5-10%, while you can easily find VP with house edge about 0.5% with optimal strategy, and there are even VP machines both on the internet and in Vegas with a small player's edge. This means that you are more likely to win on VP than on slots, or at least you are going to lose your money more slowly. Check out

I agree. I prefer games where the house edge is known. With slots it can be anything.

Actually, VP is very easy at a viper casino. Just turn on Expert mode before you start playing and it will show you which cards to hold (and its been checked and is correct). Learn from it as you play. Start with something easy like Jacks or Better or 10's or Better. Those have the simplest strategy. Then move on to Aces & Faces, Deuces Wild. They have a bit more variations, but still easy. Then move to Jokers Wild & Deuces & Jokers, for a bit more complex strategy (like holding an 8 with the Joker in JW when you have nothing connecting or 'flushy'). When you feel you are ready for a challenge, learn double jokers strategy. That one gives me a headache, I won't even try it unless I'm on a viper casino, and even then its not a good return on your money.

RE Experiment

Dear Wanda, nice to meet ya. I know exactly what you suspect, and what the results are. I have done that EXACT same experiment in the real life casino, and it turned a bit scientific! The results were pretty much the same!!

Now what I want to know is this... Who/what do draw from that?

on the slots games: 'random' is only random when nobody had programmed the machine with pre-determined numbers. *grin*

I was new to this casino, and to slots in general! I've been experimenting with them for about 4 weeks, having never previously played them. I played hell of a lot in this time though, and think I have enough data to draw this conclusion:-
In my opinion, all MG slots are completely random.
I've had great runs, and crap runs, and overall I've lost on them all. But that is the very essence of slots. The only way you will ever make profit off them is hit a jackpot (unlikely!), or have the self control to set a maximum loss limit on each visit, and the will power to 'walk away' after any modest profit is achieved.

I was stupid with that Skull Duggery session because I chased the feature which didn't come for ages (my past experience led me to expect one about every 65 spins...), and I didn't stop when that $76 win put me $5 up for the session.
But it's swings & roundabouts - after I'd just signed up to All Slots, my very first spin on my very first machine was Thunderstruck - and 3 Rams popped straight in! Shame I was starting cautiously & only had 18c riding on it!

I'm going to TRY to avoid slots in the future, but wish you the best of luck!

I couldn't agree more with that! They could have a house edge of 90%, you never know because you would lose so fast that you have no chance to find out.

HI, Petunia, nice to meet you as well. ;)
What I am trying to see JUST because its been bugging me for a while, is that every time I join a casino OR if its been a long time since I have played, I win like crazy (not on all but for my biggest wins & longest play time) BUT just after I either cash out or lose it all, I cant win a good one there again, no matter what day, what game or how much I spend.
My husband and sister both thought that sounded nuts about 6 months ago, but now they both agree with me that they have had the same experiences enough times to notice it. So we went to 3 different casinos and got the exact same results. I thought it was just way too coincedental. So its not about the odds of the slots for my experiment, because I know they are supposed to be random, and can be mean :p But after thinking about it, we have no way to prove if a casino is legit or how these machines work, AND what better way to suck you in, than to let you win a LOT at first? Who wouldnt go back and spend money, feeling totally secure at a casino that paid a big daddy?
OK for instance, in my last experimental Casino, off of a $20 deposit I got up to $1300 slowly in a few days...I seemed to win big or at least be able to play for a long time at almost every game and after getting up to $1300 I played for 7 more days and never got a win over around $40 (except once I won just over $100 after spending $250 in that game) even on $9 bets I never won enough to keep me playing for very long. I lost the whole $1300 and then $900 more with my biggest win being just a little over $100 ONCE...in $2200. Instead of being able to play for hours on the little $20 deposit, I could deposit $50 more and never even win more than once or twice, deposit more and the same thing. So I tried higher amounts upping my bets and still could not win a decent one no matter what game I played over 7 days.
It seemed the higher I bet, the longer the losing streaks & the lower the pay outs.
Whats so weird is that you get 1 point (rewards) for every $10 you wager and I looked at my cashcheck and it said that from the 13th to the 16th I deposited $928 and at casino rewards it said I had earned 928 points within that time. I cant tell if that looks really bad or really good (im brain dead right now) ...but it looked really strange to be the exact same amount. Especially strange because what I spent on avg per spin was between $2.25-$5
But I am going to move on to my next one and see how it goes.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying I ALWAYS win when I just sign up, i'm saying my only big or decent wins OR long playing time has ONLY occured in the get go then it stops.
I love to play, and I actually care about the amount of time I get to play more than winning a HUGE lump sum. I just want to be able to have fun, with the excitement in the possibility of winning.
I have Won some GREAT amounts but I would just love to find one casino that I could stick with that doesnt make me feel robbed when I leave, time after time after time.
When it starts going from every few spins WIN to 20-30 spins NO WIN...it just BITES.
The only Microgaming Casino that I have seen here that seems to pay people consistantly with no complaints (that I have found) is 32 Red...but no U.S. people can play there :( So I am open to suggestions.
I dont want to bash Micro...cuz I LUV thier games! But I want to find a good one and I would love to prove my theory wrong, but right now...its like clock work and I am bummed.
Take care & best of luck to you!
Wanda
