do online slots have hidden subliminal messages

I was wearing my tinfoil hat at the time...

My real question is why is it sometimes near impossible to stop playing a slot.

Yesterday i deposited 20 as usual and loaded up king of slots as it was wager 10 get 5 free.

Got myself all the way to 137 pounds and beat the wagering. The bonus has to be wagered on the same game.

Now usually i would hit withdraw and take the 100 out but my finger kept clicking and clicking even after losing a straight 20 pound without a win bigger then my bet size which at that time was 50p,even after a hour of arguements between myself and my finger it was still clicking until the inevitble ending.

Have any of you got any tips to help me be more determined in my efforts to get to the x and close that slot down.

I am still not talking to myself after yesterday.

Yeah if it helps I've done similar numerous times.

Make a plan to leave a slot at 'x' stage but find myself rarely sticking to my original plan.

Say I made £50 profit on a slot and its now showing signs of 'slowing down' 'One more tenner' I tell myself, only to find most times it probably double that or I end up leaving the slot level and giving back my profit.

So many times also I have said 'This is dead' but still stayed clicking away until bust!

No explanation for this to be fair, I just feel like I'm in an unbreakable trance but like you kick myself for hours after the event.

Thanks for the laugh. I do hope you start talking to yourself again soon:p

If it just had been your finger but when something so powerful take over your brain and your willpower then maybe a break will turn it on again.
The fact that you didn't even cared how much you lost is a little scary isn't it?

in theory he could of only lost 20 quid , because that's all the deposit was. finger happy myself at times but not clicking a mouse :D:D

Just a john said . cash out a hundred . job done . go deposit elsewhere if that finger is still going )

In theory yes, but I think we kick ourselves the most when we don't cashout in time, or when we reverse maybe a $1000 cashout.
When you've reversed you don't think you just lost $20.

That's the best thing with only playing where they are paying fast because that should make finding the cashout button much easier.
I'm only playing at those kind of places these days...if I play at all :)

I don't think I've reversed that much lifetime and the lifetime before that :eek:

Didn't have you down as a 'reverser' either Sarah, thought you were a good girl :p

I do my best to make you believe that but I can assure you I have done it too:oops:
I just took a sum. It could have been a $100 cashout because if I ever reverse then that's the most.

Seriously though, we should be able to control ourselves better. If we can't or don't then that's what casinos will use against us. Don't let them!

You hit the nail on the head right there with unbreakable trance that is exactly how it felt,i was so mad with myself i took the dog for a really long walk felt much better after that.

With regard to the reversing thing.

I'd honestly say (where its even possible to reverse, 32 Red, Roxy Palace, CR etc) I maybe reverse 9-10 lots of £20 or thereabouts in a year, usually long 'gaps' in between these instances too.

Quite proud how well I actually do control myself and get mad at myself for reversing £20, even if the withdrawal was £520!!!

Gone even tighter these days, say I clear wagering with £130, the 'old' me would bank £100 and leave £30 to play, nowadays I bank £120 and leave £10 :), most times anyway

Well, I would guess you can manage that since you're just as addicted to talking and typing in here, as you are at gambling.

It's the thing with finding something else to do while you're waiting.

(Just a tiny payback from the beingagoodgirl accusation)

:p:thumbsup:

good one, you win :)

Not addicted to anything here, although I do set goals. One (of many) will be to get a passport and come and take you to dinner one day

2-1 to me I think :p

Try as I might, setting myself cashout limits doesn't seem to work. I'll get to what I deem a good amount to withdraw, and leave myself some money to play with.

Making tiny withdrawals doesn't do much for me I'm afraid. The way I see it, if my £100 withdrawal clears I'd only likely gamble it anyway.

So whilst I'm sat here gambling I might as well try to achieve a decent cashout. Like friday, deposited £12 (yep, 12) and took a bonus. Somehow got to £600. Dipped back into it (oops), lost a couple of hundred but eventually managed to get to £900.

Now you'll get more chance of hell freezing over than me reversing any of that, plus it's more like the amount I was after. So I don't blame the OP for trying, that is after all why we all gamble. They may have busted out on this occasion, but I'm sure there'll be other days where the slot gods smile on them

I'd think slots are designed to lull us into a sort of disassociative trance, with their animations and repetitive nature..like video games.
Just set yourself a time limit, get up, go for a stretch and come back to a session later.
I've dogs..I'm rather forced to get off the computer every few minutes and neither is inclined to go out at the same time

Sometimes it's like you can't understand the shear audacity of the slot that it would do this to you...like keeping giving u dead spins ...and so you try to beat the slot...but alas...the slot always wins.

Exactly my problem i am thinking in investing in a taser for when things get messy.

I dont actually mind a dead spin but what i do mind is all them nearly show me the money spins or constant 2 scatters etc...

One day I have been playing Immortal Romance for 7 hours!=\
I'm not a geek...or am I....no, i'm not)) But this slot has taken all my mind and also all the money I had))) But it was funny, this is the only slot I spent so much time by playing!:D:notworthy

If you listen to the audio in certain games you will notice that when you are on a losing/dead streak the music will go very quiet background music . This is to keep you spinning without drawing your attention to the fact that nothing is happening . Yet if you get a couple of wins (even 1x) then the music volume and intensity will jump up and draw your attention to the fact that you're "winning"
Visually they use a lot of sexual images/animation to make the spin more "pleasurable" I suppose . Play Samba Carnival and watch the women's breast subtly jiggle at the end of a spin :p (like you hadn't already noticed)
I mean you can get a bit paranoid with this stuff and see subiliminals everywhere.. but there's no doubt that slot designers are well aware of subliminal techniques to induce a trance like Dionysus said and keep us clicking that spin button. Also they try to get us to increase betsizes in the same way
Also try to deposit in a casino and you will see a great big green DEPOSIT button on every page . Try to withdraw and you will usually have to click through several pages before you see a small red or uncoloured withdrawal box . It's no accident

I do think that audio plays a huge part in slot addiction and compulsive gambling.

If a game had a white screen with brown blobs but great sound effects and killer music coupled with addictive gameplay, it's far more likely to resonate with the player than just nice visuals without sound.

There are some bonus rounds that are etched into my mind and just hearing them makes you perk up out of your eight hour slots slump. Take Reel Steal, great audio and bonus round, and let's not forget the likes of Immortal Romance with its female warblings that have become strangely enjoyable.

Designers know exactly what to incorporate into slot design and I believe audio subtlety plays a huge part, even if understated or not immediately picked up by the unwitting player.

I call it tilting and I've done it many times. One more spin becomes 100. Wagering $20 becomes $40 and so on. Chasing bonuses and hoping for the big hit. Perhaps this is why I've begun playing Live Blackjack and Roulette. I'm winning and it's easier to control yourself.

Why is it easier.

Why is it easier.

When you're playing Live Blackjack/Roulette, you always have to wait for everybody to get their cards dealt or the roulette wheel to spin and the ball to land on a number. It gives you time to assess the situation and decide whether to continue or take a break for a bit or leave. Also, you can chat with the dealers and it offers a distraction. Slots are different because you can quickly spin over and over again and make bets and there's nobody to talk with. As soon as I found out I could play table games at Leo Vegas, I decided to devote more time to them. It's been an awful 2 and a half months with the slots.

In a good day, when I am winning, it usually goes like this with me:

Haha, I won again! I love this game! :cheerleader:
I am Invincible!! :yahoo:
Ok, things are slowing down.
I won enough, let’s withdraw xxxx and leave xxx to play later.
Let’s play a little longer, just the xxx.
Dam it, I lost the xxx, just a few spins more…
