I haven't signed up to a new casino in months.

I signed up at Guts last week, made a couple of deposits and decided I did not like it, so I self excluded on the weekend.

Since then, my phone has been blowing up with calls from scumbag casinos that should not have my number.

Why are you sharing my personal info?????

This scumbag behaviour should not be allowed, and you should not be accredited if you share private info.

Which casinos are calling you? I would not assume it is from Guts - maybe a hacked database, I dunno. But I have never heard of players signing up with Guts and having their phones blow up with calls from scumbags.

Do you know which casinos they were? That would really help :D

If you are looking for a Casino Rep, please click the "Members" tab and then look for either iGaming reps (includes ALL reps), or the Accredited Casino reps. :D

Hi,
I am of course sorry to hear someone who shouldn't be targeted is being spammed, however I can absolutely confirm that none of this is from Guts nor has this any relation whatsoever to Guts or any of our sites. I am also not really understanding why and how would this be related to Guts.

I am guessing here - it could be that when the player SE'd from the account he began receiving these spam phone calls. It may be coincidental, but I would like to know from which casinos these calls were for. It wouldn't be the first time that there has been a database breach in the industry . :D

We had a section here about combating spam, and tips on how to avoid or to catch spammers. One technique is when signing up at a casino, to use a unique email address.

And on the operators' side of things - to seed your database with unique email addys as well.

Using your iPhone (if one has one) to sign up to casino using the ‘hide my email’ prompt from Apple is brilliant chocolateLogs47 was one of the last emails I was generated! Brilliant and funny but it helps all the same

These are not emails, they are phone calls. And I never listened long enough to find out which one. I have not been answering any more of them because it is a waste of my time. They are all from spoofed numbers, a different one every time, so blocking the number is not an option.

I could never understand the heavily accented call center idiot anyways, even if he spelled it out.

Pretty co-incidental that this started when it did, I have not had any problem before this.

Trustworthy/honest casinos do not spoof numbers. About 5 yesterday, and at least 12 calls today so far, starting at 7AM.

I realize it is frustrating however I have never had such issues with any Betsson Casinos and they are one of the groups I would trust not to hand out my email or phone number to a third party.

If you are on Android your phone should have a way to block spam calls (although it won't catch all of them as you said they can spoof phone numbers). As well "Key Messages" is worth the one time price for text messages although they have a free version as well

Nothing to do gambling but I switched over to Sky broadband a couple of years ago , was provided with a new phone number
and digital phone connection, From day 1 its been unusable as every call is a spam call, sometimes for my deceased
wife, always get the long delay followed foreign jabbering in the background, usually i have a problem with my bt broadband
and need to press option 1, yeah right.Ended up telling every caller to f*** off and in the end just uplugged the phone.
Think the phone comes bundled with the broadbandand you cant cancel it.

Guys,

Reselling of user data, and in particular those who depositted, are worth gold for casino's.
I disagree. Hacking into a database, or stealing one is worth gold for crooks. This is why I would say this is either coincidental, or perhaps the casino's database has been compromised. Casinos do not sell their database unless they are selling the casino along with it. :D

Its must be an extremely outdated or insecure website for casino's to be hacked these days. Really, any personal details should be inserted into a digital vault. I build websites too and if i proces personal details i really need to use a digital vault for that purpose. Like if you obtain it good luck getting in there.

Most casino's also do security hardening. Even i. I pay someone extremely skilled to test, harden my servers that i have (15 to be precise). In all these years never i've bin hacked or some stuff. We have very neath things running at the back-end to prevent this from happening.

It makes more sense to simply resell data.

When there is a will, there is a way. I know for a fact this has happened before (not at Betsson) but inside jobs. I know at least 5 occasions where a casino's database was compromised - all by disgruntled employees :p

Guys,

And for a regulated casinos unusable now a days.

It's also the reason why I had one CRM manager for the past 8 years, who has juniors under him with limited access and the only reason is because I know I can 100% trust him.

Exactly, "regulated" casino's. So if you signup to a unregulated one, or one that doesnt respect privacy laws, your kind of asking for it. Never where my details "resold" or "leaked" in that matter on regulated casino's. I can stick my penis in the fire for that one. It was only one time a curacao based one that decided to close it's door and resell all it's users.

all it takes is a single security patch that isn't applied for the potential to get hacked. Unless your servers are offline there will always be the possibility even if your patched within an hour of a patch being available. You can however make it less likely which sounds like what Jeroensgambling is doing.

Having said that I never said the Casino got hacked. Odds are the user signed up at some point to an untrustworthy site that is reselling customer data. It just happened to be that he received the spam within a week of using this casino. It just needs one company reselling data to get emails from multiple parties.

Like any other business, IT is outsourced and software is often licenced. In such a event i'm sure 99.9% will be patched within an hour. And there's counter measures too to protect any website. Casino's are'nt plain SQL databases with unhashed credit card details or something. We're talking strong encryption that even if you got the details it still would be considered useless due to the strength it's encrypted with.

I mean, when was the last time a casino was really really hacked? Where either personal details where confiscated from players or simply a database dump ended up somewhere? I cant recall really. Casino security is extremely tight. I mean i have websites of clients that are EOL; and leak as a clutter. If it was'nt for the server side protection i'm running those website(s) would be hacked to shit.

With the combination of both cloudflare and server side protection, you can pretty much build a fortress in regards of protection your application. most of the hacks that you see today, is primarily due to outdated software or weakest link type of shit where a unsuspecting employee clicks on a attachment he shoud'nt open, causing a ransom attack to spread out in hours.

Ive hacked too, many years ago, back then it was quite simple. Primarily because of bad configured servers but also bad skillset of programming. Most applications back then just did'nt verify what was actually submitted and that left room for XSS / SQL Injection attacks. Now it's completely different, and most (good) software simply dont trust what the user is submitting in regards of data.

In particular i managed to inject my own user and pass combination(s) into bad configured servers hosting xxx content. Where you normally had to pay for a monthly subscription i pretty much bypassed that and was able to resell even up to 3 logins of choice for only 10$. That expertise helped me in building quite stronger websites today.
