Just had an email saying: "we deeply regret that we are no longer accepting customers from your jurisdiction".

Being the UK, I guess that's the end then? Anyone else had this? Thought I'd check because they did once wrongly send out an email before.

Simmo!

Same for Finland. Go to segacasino.com and the same text comes up.

I actually reopened my account when the rep come aboard and was waiting for some improvements as I liked the SEGA slotskins more than the original ones.

Someone on another forum said that they had been "hit" pretty hard. Prolly not the only reason for closing but heavy losses at the beginning was most likely enough for the execs.

Logged in, games are unavailable, Support can no longer convert loyalty points and when I asked if they were closing completey they said they could no longer discuss any information. Also, this support rep was a new name to me - normally I get one of the same two people. Doesn't look good.

I'm getting the same info from my end - "not accepting my jurisdiction".

So much for the Baptism by Fire. It would have been nice to have received notification that they were on the way out.

Have to say it doesn't really surprise me they didn't make it.
The list of restricted countries was by far the largest I've ever seen.
A casino needs players. Lots of them. The more the better.

I'm sure there must have been a reason for it, but excluding 75% or even more of the worlds population from signing up is not a good start imo.
Maybe they got the best games on the planet, but if nobody knows.. I was not even allowed to play them in fun mode.

This just in from the rep:

We would like to inform everyone that right now we just have a lot of restrictions, we can't cater players from a lot of jurisdictions. All affected players will be informed by our Customer Service Team.

We would like to thank our of SEGA players.

So consider yourselves informed :p

I have to say that they were right to inform players first IMO. If they had done players after say affiliates or the press, it wouldn't have been the right way round.

Yup same here.
I have to wonder if a huge and well respected company like Sega can't make it work what are the smaller less respected ones doing differently?
Bit of a shame this as the industry desperately needs some respectable brands to help with its image.

 They're definitely in the wrong business if they can't do what 99.9% of the other online casinos are, and have been, doing for years. I guess they're trying to market the casino as they do their games, and you see how well that's working...

And yep, it's only a matter of time before they go belly-up...

Same here - I've asked for an explanation from Sega.

If these are selective restrictions, it would appear that they are pretty wide.

Presumably when emails go out to players there will be some sort of of explanation.

Huh! Auto response:

This email is to let you know we have received your message and will be replying to it within 24 hours. To help track your inquiry, we have generated a tracking number for your reference. Your tracking number is XXXXXXXX. Please use this code for subsequent communication.

Thanks again for contacting SEGA Games, and we'll be attempting to do our best to address your concern in a timely and professional manner we can!

I would have thought an organised company would have forseen a reaction and set up a better response system under the circumstances.

Their live chat just goes to an email fill-in field, too.

I'll tell you why, it's because they don't understand the european market, cannot process transactions because they don't have a UK acquirer and consider UK players to be bonus abusers :)

Shame really, such a big brand could be great for affiliates, cheap traffic too I would have thought. Their website was/is awful though, and the support will be based in Asia too, as you can tell from the dreadful grammar.

Got the same email im from the UK. Thought it was strange that my area was blocked. Never played there ever just downloaded the software to take a look. Seems like they out.

That was a real fast tits up wasn't it. They may be back though once they can allow more players hard to say what caused it But suffice it to say poor management.

I received the email about not "accepting customers from your jurisdiction" as well today.

I played a private poker tournament and won just 3$ a few weeks ago, and hadn't played since nor deposited, but was considering doing so. Now, about 2 weeks ago, I received a call from Sega telling me about their great bonuses for first depositors. I think that was the second time a poker room calls me to my cel phone about a promotion.

I felt it was kind of strange they did and not just sent an email about it, so I didn't make any deposit there. And now, today, this email. Maybe a coincidence, maybe they were looking for people to deposit and get higher rake, who knows. I hope everybody can get their money from them withoout any problem.

nor from MY jurisdiction and I'm in Canada. I wonder if there's any country that's able to play or if by 'jurisdiction' they mean 'planet'

Heya!

We appreciate your patronage of our Casino. We would like to thank everyone who has been part of making this experience as fun as possible. To address all of the players' concerns, we guarantee that all remaining players' balances will be refunded back to them. We apologize for we cannot accept players from all other jurisdictions for now.

Thanks for the info. So in other words, you are closing shop?

The company line is clearly to give as little information as possible; I've just received this so-called response to my enquiry asking for an explanation of what is going on:

QUOTE:

We deeply apologize for not informing you sooner. But SEGA Management does not want to have this happen, we can only say that we are very sorry that we cannot cater most of the players due to jurisdiction concern.
Thank you so much and we hope for your understanding.

UNQUOTE

This is so unprofessional, and can only encourage negative speculation.

Exactly! These people really need to get real and profer a proper explanation of what's happening and the reasons for it.
