They have declined to pay me because they have a 5 pounds maximum bet and have said that because I bet more than 5 pounds using the gambling feature I have broken the rules. Are they correct to say that?

Yes. Max bonus bet is 5 euros. Its a very common betsize limit with most bonuses. Were you playing roullette to get to that balance out of interest.

Literally no leg to stand on here. If you want to use the gamble feature and high roll don't take bonuses while doing so. I'd actually say unless you have special permissions like "The Bandit" etc avoid even playing table games with a bonus intact as the wagering contributions are extremely low compared to slot play wagering.

I'm not so sure about this - the rules don't seem to say this is not allowed:
1.32 In the interest of fair gaming and fraud prevention, wagers placed using bonus money are subject to a maximum bet per game round limit. In most games, the maximum bet permitted when playing with bonus money is $7.50, €7.00, £5.00, or its equivalent in another currency. In the case of the following games, these operate with a deviating maximum bet of $1.50, €1.40, £1.00, or its equivalent in another currency, when playing with bonus money: The Rift, Dead or Alive, Bloodsuckers, Kings of Chicago, Hellboy, 300 Shields. In case of a breach of this rule, the player agrees that his bonus and any associated winnings may be void.
Surely a "game round" is everything between one bet and the next bet and the limit applies to the starting bet only?
I personally wouldn't class doubling up a win as a new game round - it' still part of the original spin / hand.
The T&Cs don't mention "double up" or "gamble feature" anywhere that I can see - so I can understand why players might think this doesn't apply.

Hmmmm... maybe PAB and see what the experts think.

The gamble feature is actually a separate game and not related to the spin that won the amount, and should have a RTP of 100% thus not affecting the slot's overall RTP. So it is effectively a separate play. But if this is NOT specified in the terms I sympathise with the player here.

Definately sympathise with the player.
There was a case on ask gamblers where a player done the same thing on bikini party, playing at gday casino. After a bit of a tussle, the casino agreed, the player won the case and was paid. Unless that game is excluded with max bet in there terms they should pay him.
