I did a Euro backpack when I was a kid. Bought a Eurrail pass I ended up chucking and never using as I was broke before hitting most countries (damn pubs lol)
So only hit Eng, Ire, Scot, Fr, NL and totally mised Sp, Gr and It where I wanted.

Oh, how I miss those times. Backpacking was my first foray into traveling the world, this after thinking I would never see anything of this planet when I was growing up in Romania. Started at 18 with hitchhiking from Germany to Turkey and back, stopping in Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey as well as Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria on the return. 5 months of pure bliss. Did the same a few months later towards the West (after doing student jobs to earn the dosh), ending up in Lisbon, Portugal.

Never thought but always wished to get a job where I had to travel a lot. Little did I know that only 8 years later that became reality.

Seeing so much of the world opened up a totally new perspective and made me understand better how people are and think in well over 100 countries. I feel really blessed to have had the chance to do all the traveling while being paid a nice salary and daily expenses on top.

My last was backpacking my own country to the far side and back.
By the time I got home my feet were so busted and infected and I had to go on agressive antibiotics and stay off them for 6 weeks - thats when I was like, ok, maybe doggies and more home time and I aint so young anymore

- We spent a week visiting a European Country. This country has an amazing education system which is really focused on the children.

- We had a day trip out to a nearby city which was actually in a different country. It was the most beautiful place imaginable.

- in our final year we had to study a very contrasting locality and lifestyle.

- my first holiday was to New York when I was 13.

Superb field trip, can't get much better than Jamaica - one of the places that is on my bucket list together with Cuba and Cayman Islands!

Somehow, never made it to that corner, the closest was Costa Rica a few times.

Definitely depends on your school lol.
One HS all field trips went as far as the US - and being in Canada, that's a car ride.
When I transferred high schools, the school trip was to Enlgand..MUCH better offering lol

It was an experience all right! In many good ways but also a little scary.
Beyond the walls of the complex or hotel...where tourists don't venture....market places where we had to duck down on the bus as we might have been shot at for being 'white'.
Schools with classes of 50+ children, desperate to learn.

But the most terrible part was dawn - dusk fieldwork = no sunshine time for tanning

I have not actually touched it as yet, god after so many losses, not only on Bonanza but on everything I touch, for once I am fighting my conscience to deposit opposed to not depositing - Harry is such a sweetheart and whilst I was considering as well as stopping the slots but removing myself from the forum, that is just not going to happen now.
