Privacy VS Personalization

Hey guys. Today I've found an article that touches upon data protection and personalization in the gambling industry. Here is a quote I liked:
72% of people will stop engaging with a company completely if they have concerns over data collection, while also saying that 76% of players prefer hyper-personalisation over mass marketing techniques.
The article outlines player's behavior when it comes to data privacy: customers are aimed at services that provide transparent data usage and storage.
"Gaming operators are walking a knife edge" while balancing between increased focus on privacy and individual manner of promoting their services to customers.

And now a question to players: would you trade more of your private information for a more personalized gaming experience? Yes?No?Why?

Thing with financial interactions, the 'private' aspect need only go so far, and unless considered fraudulent - whereby they'd delve further into historic financial deeds - shouldn't involve any facet of someone's personal life. I don't go into WH Smiths to buy a paper so that they can ask me what my favourite colour is, or how many times I had it off this month (we'll leave that latter one)

There's a LINE, it's a financial trade, nothing more. Casinos have long overstepped the mark and are now testing the waters further. And in all honesty, most are fed up with it, with the only losers to come out of this being the casinos themselves. When will they learn?

Aha got your point. Do you actually gamble? 🤓

Yes, the tables will turn as a result of online casinos greed.

Not all players are addicts and many will turn their noses up when seeing their deposit whittle away dead spin after dead spin. Especially new players trying out casinos for the first time and trying to replicate the streamer they watched. Most will wonder what the fuss is about.

New registrations, if have not already started to decline, will. And the old guard, who remember the casinos of yesteryear, are moving onto different things to spend their money on now because compared to before, its a waste.

The bubble will burst and apart from new markets, the profits will be squeezed, and many a casino will be left reminiscing about yesteryear's profits.

Thanks for answering :)
I was curious since you have quite a clear position regarding the topic. And what nonsense did casinos actually start? 🤔
You're welcome :)

In answer to your ridiculous question = absolutely none. Casinos have gone above and beyond in their persecution of players, and have forged an unbreakable bond that is the envy of the world. I must have dreamt it, Dallas- style. D'oh!

Hope you don't mind me butting in, but let's start a list:

Low RTP models of their products.
No bonus offers.
Bonus-banning of customers who win too much from bonus offers.
Marketing bonus offers to players and then punishing them for taking them.
Crap service.
Suspicious game errors.
Suspicious requests for information when trying to withdraw a big win.
Deliberate delay of a withdrawal when trying to withdraw a big win.
Deliberate frustrating of customers in the hope they go away when trying to withdraw a big win.

Just from the top of my head - I am sure there are plenty more.

Thanks for sharing! As a casino representative, I can see some of these points from the inside.
Would you specify here? "Suspicious requests for information when trying to withdraw a big win." What exactly do you find suspicious in verification process? (I know verification is a tough topic for many users)

Timing.

Why make the request only when a player makes a big withdrawal? Why not do it when a player loses regularly or when onboarding?

It is a blatant attempt to try and find something wrong with the win. 99% of casinos are happy to take your money, but bring out the magnifying glass when it comes to paying out.

The ones that don't, will stick around and are mostly at the top of their game for that reason.

Where are we on SoWs? No one mentioned the SoWpocalypse yet? I hear this has been around the last few years, and been warmly embraced by all, thanks to casinos' happy-go-lucky, amenable approach?

Thought I'd throw that in there, as I don't think it's been covered much on CM

My pet hate atm is interrupting you every darn hour to ask do you want to continue, as if you are up to some nefarious or doomed activity only the foolhardy or deranged would pursue. These come in even during the feature round on games, 'yes I think I'll stop now after spending hours trying to land this thing!'

I'd wager no one has ever clicked on the no I want to stop option even when having a very bad session, gambler's minds don't work like that, but if it said instead 'here's 50% of your losses back if you press stop now and bugger off' most would!
