MICROGAMING AND INTERTOPS CASINO RELATIONSHIP DRAWS TO A CLOSE

20 May 2009, Isle of Man, Microgaming has today announced its agreement with Intertops Casino is drawing to a close, due to Intertops Casino wishing to operate in the US market. Microgaming has powered the well established online casino for over a decade, and has enjoyed a successful relationship with it.

Intertops.com accepted the worlds first ever online sports bet, and enjoys a top reputation in the online gaming industry. Microgaming is the worlds largest gaming software provider and powers over 120 of the worlds most profitable casino sites.

Michl Posch, Head of Marketing comments: Intertops Casino is proud to have been powered by such a reputable, market-leading, gaming software provider over the past decade. The assistance that Microgaming has provided in the change process has been extremely helpful.

The move follows Microgaming operators continuing commitment not to accept US player registrations.

 at the bolded parts. They may have the biggest amount of skins but there are networks with more players.

And responsible operator conduct and player protection. TUSK.

This makes little sense. We earlier had the CEO of MGS give out a press release that made it clear (apparently) that the decision whether or not to accept US players was up to the individual operators.

This could now be interpreted as meaning that this was all a lie, and that all along, it was MGS that was COMPELLING operators to ditch the US market.

These releases are viewed as official, and any inconsistency over time risks being ripped into by journalists.

We have had SO MANY LIES come out of OFFICIAL sources since the original signing of UIGEA that it would be pretty hard to convince us that ANYTHING that now forms a press release is the truth.

The biggest lie of all was Neteller, and their "we are processing US customer's withdrawals as fast as we can, but the sheer volume means some may have to wait weeks...............", it turned out that the number being processed was pretty much ZERO.

I think a Rep from 32Red would be the perfect person to comment on that statement there Vinyl, since they are one of the, if not the most respected MG Operators on this board. Maybe someone from 32Red would be willing to come in here and clarify this once and for all, so all of us can finally put all of the speculation out to pasture, so to speak.

I wish people would get their )#(&$)!@(&*$@ facts straight before publishing PR's such as this. What bull***.

They're just now getting around to blocking the BANNED STATES, NOT ALL OF THE USA.
Straight from the horses mouth:

Dear Brian,

Our Casino/Poker Software provider has recently introduced a new policy to block customers from certain States within America. You have received this email because their IP-Geo locating software believes that you are currently in one of the banned states.

We can help however! In order to remove the block, we require that you send us by fax or email (Customercare@Intertops.com) scanned copies of :
- A photo ID - e.g. a valid passport or driving licence; and
- Proof of address - e.g. bank statement or utility bill (less than 6 months old)
- We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience and we look forward to have you playing in our casino as soon as possible.

For further information, please feel free to contact one of our customer service representatives who will be more than happy to help you through the process.

Sincerely

Your IntertopsCasino.com-team

MGS??

Ok I have a really great question for everyone. Why is it that just about all software companies had website to visit to contact regarding the software and casinos that use it and most still have them yet for 3 years every time i click (www.microgaming.com) no matter what site it is on including the eCogra it goes to a white page stating "SITE UNAVAILABLE"????
Seems to me the MGS people have been hiding from something for some time now!

The Microgaming website is unavailabe to people residing in the U.S. and has been for some time, as far as I know anyway. Not really sure why they would block access to the software website, but they do. It's been mentioned before, but I can't remember the thread. The site comes up fine for me (Canada) and for anyone residing anywhere but the U.S.

Straight from the horses mouth:

How does this tally with the announcement from MGS themselves that they are TERMINATING the relationship with Intertops. This is WAY beyond just enforcing the IP blocking.

We are being fed BS and half-truths from BOTH camps at present.

1) MGS has NOT "terminated" anything, I can still log into my account.

2) Intertops are STILL telling players only banned states are blocked from MGS.

These official statements are inconsistent with each other, so one is DEFINITELY untrue in some respect, and maybe even BOTH are.

MGS didn't appear to give a date for this termination, so maybe it is imminent, just waiting for a period of notice to run out.

It's my understanding that Microgaming has stopped accepting NEW players from the USA, but if you already had an account before they stopped accepting registrations from US players (Nov 2008) you are grandfathered in and allowed to play. Obviously, you cannot be in a "banned state".

EDIT: Misunderstood everything here, you guys probably know this, sorry for being an idiot ;)

Okay, I haven't tried logging into my Intertops account in a few days. BUT, according to the email I received from CS, Intertops (green) is still running, along with the new Red casino and Royal Joker. Maybe, I should try it out today and see what happens...

Hi All,

I received this yesterday from Intertops:

Our new Casino is live now! Enjoy our completely new and enhanced RED Casino with $100 bonus!

Visit xxx.intertops.com/casino today and convince yourself of the fantastic special offers and all other benefits. Playing at the Intertops RED Casino is easier and even more fun!

Play the biggest progressive jackpots that are available for players from the US. The new look drives the name: to differentiate from our existing (GREEN) casino, we call it the RED Casino.

$100 Bonus for you!

1) Download the software from our website or start playing immediately without downloading at xxx.intertops.com/casino

2) Log in with your existing user details!
Your username is: DA5xxxxx

Granted I'm in Australia so the switch is not for my benefit but I can still gain access to the MG casino.

Though I'm surprised they didn't call it 23RED and be done with it!

Cheers

I think the phraseology of the MGS release, and specifically: "Microgaming has today announced its agreement with Intertops Casino is drawing to a close" implies that the software license agreement is coming to an end, and that Microgaming's involvment in the Intertops "Green" casino is of limited future duration.

In other words MGS will not be there much longer, although the operator presumably has plans for a new software provider - maybe RTG as is the case with the "Red" Casino.

When that happens, Intertops will presumably be in contact with its players advising them on developments.

I believe the generally amicable tone of the statements made by both MGS and Mikl Posch from Intertops in the press release support the above.

I think you've got it about right, jetset. The MGS announcement doesn't say Intertops original casino is closing any time soon. Intertops has already launched its "green" RTG casino and it appears that they will operate both during a period of transition.

Good news is that US players that played at Intertops for years can come back and current players will have plenty of time to make the switch. Apparently Microgaming is working with Intertops to make the transition as simple as possible for players and affiliates.

I appreciate the concern which is been rose. The things need to be sorted out because its not about the individual but it can be with everyone.
