The Gamstop Group 2025 Annual Report, highlighting a year of continued growth, service modernisation and innovation, is published today.
The report highlights continued growth in demand for self-exclusion, particularly among younger adults; something the Group continues to put resources into with its student research and partnership with Ygam.
During 2025, Gamstop launched a redesigned user-centred website, introduced a new five-year auto-renew self-exclusion option, and expanded its data and heatmapping tools to support partners working to reduce gambling-related harm. The organisation also rebranded MOSES to Gamstop Betting Shops, creating a more unified identity across its online and retail self-exclusion services.
Building on this strength, the Gamstop Group today also announced the appointment of two new Non-Executive Directors and its first Head of External Affairs, further strengthening the organisation’s leadership team as it continues to evolve its services to reduce gambling-related harm.
Jo Costello and David Spruce are joining as new non-executive directors, replacing . Kevin Beerling and Mike Dixon, who steps down from the Board following his elevation to the House of Lords as Lord Dixon of Jericho.
Jo Costello is Head of Membership Services at Rape Crisis England & Wales, the national membership body for Rape Crisis Centres supporting women and girls affected by rape and sexual abuse. She has spent her career working across the third sector, education and social care, with a strong focus on supporting vulnerable people and helping them regain control of their lives; experience that will be hugely valuable in her new role at Gamstop.
David Spruce has been a chartered management accountant for 30 years, with senior financial and operational management experience across Esso, Mars, JP Morgan, SunGard and QBE Insurance. He is currently Treasurer and Trustee of
Alzheimer’s Research UK, lead finance Trustee at the Heart of England Forest, and an independent member of the Audit and Risk Committee at the Royal United Services Institute.
The Gamstop Group has also appointed Matt Burgiss as its first Head of External Affairs. Matt joins from GamCare, where he spent the past eight years, most recently as Development Manager. He previously worked on the TalkBanStop collaboration and is a strong advocate for the benefits of Gamstop, having used the service as part of his own recovery journey since 2016.
The 2025 Annual Report is the first report under the leadership of Chair, Chris Pond, who comments:

The 2025 Annual Report is the first report under the leadership of Chair, Chris Pond, who comments:
“2025 was a landmark year for The Gamstop Group, not only in the continued growth and impact of our services, but also in how we are evolving to meet changing patterns of gambling harm and user need. As my first year as Chair, I’m incredibly proud of the progress made across the Group.
On behalf of the entire team, I would like to thank Kevin and Mike for their outstanding contribution as NonExecutive Directors. Their consistent support, wise counsel and leadership have played a pivotal role in shaping our strategic direction and reinforcing a robust governance framework. Their experience and judgement have left a lasting legacy that will continue to benefit the organisation as we move forward.
The appointments of David, Jo and Matt continues to ensure the breadth of expertise across the organisation at an important time for the sector. Their experience across finance, safeguarding, lived experience and external engagement will be hugely valuable as we continue to expand our partnerships and support services.”
