I often see the gambling industry describing itself as entertainment. While this may describe a small percentage of players, I am guessing most are there for other reason(s). So, why do you go to the casino: entertainment or to win money?
If you are not sure why you go, ask yourself?
1) Would you still go if the entertainment were removed (every slot machine was a single line three reel game so there are no bonus rounds, progressive jackpots, and animated screenplay, there was no food and drinks, not acts on stage, etc.)?
2) Would you still go if the money was removed? You could play all you want but you neither win nor lose any money.
3) Okay, okay. I know there could be other reasons to go to a casino ... please feel free to list them in the comments below.

Personally, I am there to win money. I find virtually no entertainment value in these games except getting to play with statistics a bit (I like math). In fact, remove the wagering and some of these games become quite boring.

I primarily go for the fun of the games, if I win it’s a bonus, and to me that’s how you should see it really.

To go there for the sole purpose to try and win money seems a little short sited, we all know casinos are not built from winners.

Some providers have had autoplay modes that just show what you won. For my intents and purposes this is optimal as the slots spin faster and it's the same spin just without the bells and whistles.

Not many people offer this although I think I saw a similar thing with nolimitcity games so there's one big provider I guess. I think the biggest problem with modes like this people who have bad streaks will probably feel cheated especially when they don't see the game rounds happen so I doubt they are too popular.

It’s been a while since I went to a physical casino but I went yesterday.

My wife and I sat next to each other, taking turns to press the spin on the machine and changed stakes etc while having a few drinks. Had the odd gamble win etc and a bit of banter over who was luckier.

Next to us or around us, were people just stood watching the machine on auto play.

I think people use casinos for different reasons but surely everyone knows you’re not there “to win money” as it’s extremely rare?

It’s changed now but our local casino used to have an amazing restaurant and we’d visit just to eat. Without gambling!

You make a good point about food. One of the few reasons I'd visit my local casinos! I've been very busy the last few years but I've been meaning to get back to playing poker in brick and mortar casinos again as a hobby. I might not necessarily be a long term winning player (haven't checked) but tournament play you get good value for money as far as time spent there, free drinks and occasionally free meals.

So for local casinos a poker tournament and a nice meal are definitely appealing to me.

For online I definitely want a big juicy bonus 🤣

I have never gone to a casino because I know that I have an addictive personality. For the same reason that I have never gone into an amusement arcade without a child responsability I have of.
I have an inclination that you have follow up questions but your post seems like it is based on personal stimulation and manipulation of personalities that they can take advantage of?

Used to do this once a month or so for same reasons. Bit pricey but the best steak I've ever tasted and the only reason we'd go.

Not been land based for over a decade now but did go with more of a social aspect in mind than gambling or to play the odd poker tournament and not play the tables.

Despite working in one for 5 years and been shit hot at black jack (decided not to abbreviate this one for obvious reasons :p) I rarely played tables, fancied roulette occasionally but could never get any space to get bets on properly on 25p chip tables

Used to visit one daily for 5 years and didn't even gamble. Stopped once the guy I was stalking left and then found him online not long after.
I’m hoping there’s a positive end to this story?

But he was awesome at spinning the roulette ball, it was simply fascinating to watch! Though, after a while I'd find myself watching him during his breaks too (not toilet ones, jeez m8's!). TBF, jumping trains to Wolverhampton and back was a headache after my face became known anyway. H'es probably asleep now. Likes his early nights he does.
shhhh ;)

edit. This was a lame joke. Thought someone would pick up that I was describing our Jono777 member here at CM, who used to work at a casino. I might be a knob, but FTR I do not actually stalk people ;)

When I am away with work (couple of times a week) I will often go in - especially to the smaller genting and grosvenor casinos. If there is a poker cash game I might jump in, but usually I just go to unwind and have a couple of beers/something to eat - most of the times I won't even gamble when I go in. I just prefer the environment of the smaller casinos as the food is usually decent, and after a long day on the road they are usually a lot quieter than other places to go and get food in (especially mid-week when I am usually away)
