Pokerzip - US get-around?

I was at this soccer game the other night and met a poker player who was also a fund manager. Chatting about the US legislation, he said he'd been hearing about this new company called "pokerzip" (from searching around I think he means betzip.com) in investment circles. Apparently, you pay a subscription per month which gives you access to effectively "freerolls" with prizes - they use it as a way to promote online poker to US residents.

Wondered if a) anyone had come across it, b) what people thought and c) is it a concept that could potentially be applied to casinos? Just got me thinking...
