We have been getting a HUGE amount of Asian students coming to Canada for their education, as early as primary, and then going back.

Yep, studying abroad gives kids from Asian countries the best chances for a good job.
Singapore itself is also a frequent destination for students, yet, still for Singaporeans a few semesters abroad make quite a difference.

I was recently looking at the STATS in populates and prices vs Canadian. Where I live in Ontario, there is 65% Asian ( India-China) that make up for University population. Their tuition is anywhere from 30-50k Canadian. That doesn't include board/lodging/food etc. Canadians pay 10-15k a year, excluding all of the above. They are making their money.

only made it to Singapore once (and it was a one-nighter to pick up a visa). But went to a club which turned out to be booked for a graduation lol - but i was welcomed in and had a blast

Similar to Harry, I too had 4 viewings of luxurious apartments but these Thompson catalogues are heavier than they look, and those snips don't stick well to scrapbooks 
But it's ok, got my bedsit, and my trusty flatmate, Mungo the horse-botherer

Good morning my fellow CM'ers. Thank you once again for all the kind words. I really look forward to moving in the second half of January.
This is by far the biggest place I ever rented and it's empty apart from built-in cabinets (1 year old) in the kitchen and built-in wardrobes (mostly the same age as those in the kitchen) in every bedroom. At least I negotiated with the owner to have her buy a new fridge and washing machine + plus she accepted a SGD200 lower price than she asked for. Original asking price was SGD3,500 + bills.
Being so empty, the inside looks gigantic to somebody like me who is used to live in studio or max. 1-bdr apartments.

@Supababe The balcony can be indeed opened. The door is there as on the neighbouring property, just have to remove the plaster outside. Coincidentally, the next-door neighbours have two kids aged 8 and 11 (he's 9). That is a good start for him to make some new friends.
@smart_croatia Indeed kids are our life jackpot - something I did not think 10 years ago
@Glassheart Sure, you'll be at the Marina circuit within 30 - 40 minutes with public transport. I went to the F1 GP in the past, actually to the inaugural in 2008 and was rather disappointed as you don't see much of the race, plus you might end up deaf if you don't wear ear defenders.
I spent most of the three days in front of one of the giant screens as well as at the entertainment village. They had some class acts performing on two stages.
@pinnit2014 One day it will fly out as Bonanza has been a cold-robbing bas**rd lately.
