PC Help Needed

I've actually got two programs installed that I use to monitor my startup and other processes and downloads etc. Winpatrol and Windows Defender and I also let both of them run in the background because when one of them does not catch something going on in the system such as a program trying to start or a program trying to add a new item to the start menu or running processes then the other one will catch it...both of them I have been using for the past three years or so I believe.

Sorry Winbig I wasnt having a go by all means buddy, just healthy chit chat.

What may be the best option here is what are those programs KK is talking about that he can not locate in his start up folder??,
My only concern is the programs that he cant see are actually ones tht need to be there. That is the reason they dont really make themselves known.

How do you know when your in MSCONFIG and you do delete a command or even a application that is was not connected to any others.

This didnt come out right, Ok I fully understood KK's question Winbig I was answering yours,

Programs that dont make them selves known in startup or on your desltop 9/10 need to be there, the thing with MSCONFIG is you are potentially deleting things that NEED tp be on the system, when you go to add/remove programs that is what you call userfriendly to the aspect of- if you delete anything in there it will only delete that program and nothing else, when your in MSCONFIG your deleting potential things that are attached.

The best complete uninstall program that I used was absolute uninstaller which once it has gotten rid of what you dont want it will also do a registry clean to stop any potenial file path errors for the deleted apps.

Thanks for all the replies guys :notworthy
(even though you're starting to go WAY above my head now!)

I'll try some of the simpler suggestions & see if that helps.

One more question though:-
I was just looking at my HD usage, and it shows;
System (C): 26GB - 12% free space.
Backup (D): 11GB - 99% free space.

Seems like an awful lot of wasted space on D - can I use that for additional storage - or does it have to be 'reserved' for some critical function?

Cheers!
KK

Thats one of the good things about WinPatrol...it tells you what it is and what it does...

Yes, you should be using D drive to store most of your casino programs KK since C Drive is the default drive and will be normally used as the default download drive...move as much as you can to the D drive and this should help with some speed up.

ok that sounds awesome then Robwin, I also take it has a "undo" section there that if you do delete something that was needed you can just go "undo" and it wll revert back??

You can configure it to do a backup and restore feature before you make any new changes whereas if you want to revert back to the previous settings...
